Beast Children 1

I feel like I'm seeing Hinata again. Also heavily reminded of Sena in how much a character looks like they shouldn't be playing the sport lol. Art was okay. Will probably keep reading.

Last Saiyuki 12

Entering the stage for me where its heading to cancellation so just skimming some content I guess...

Still, enjoyed the final bit where the Torii gate was destroyed.

Double Taisei 2

I never thought theyd reverse their positions though what if its more than that and they just never switch anymore, sei is just in his head or something.

Also I wish they didnt have Jugo look like he pushed him(?) that was the saddest and most shocking part.

Samurai 8 3

Surprised they didnt go with Hachimaru.

Beast Children 01
Solid start. Likable protagonist and successfully builds to a moment that conveys a passion for the sport. Some Haikyu vibes in terms of how it was structured/early plot points. I'm pleased that the smaller size of the protagonist isn't presented as the main conceit of the story since that is already the case for the other physical sports series in the magazine. Also nice that Yukito is somewhat friendly (teaching some skills!) and we already have a reasonable explanation for why he is cagey at points.

"Beast Children" referring to the successors of 'Mr. Beast' (hilarious/goofy moniker), Sakura in ideals and Yukito as the literal son of him is as the hook is interesting enough.

Wonder if we are a ways away from an actual match given it is a club of 1 (3 assuming the other two join). I imagine they won't be blackmailing redshirts to fill out the team Eyeshield 21 style. Maybe they join a regional team or something?

Funny that Act Age prepped me for the Night of Galactic railroad reference (though it is explicitly mentioned in a later scene).

Double Taisei 02
I'm baffled why we even had the brothers in the same body thing if he is indeed dead and gone. Have to imagine that it continues to be a factor in some way.

Wonder how weird this will get if by chapter two we already have an opponent decked out in BDSM garb.

With the way Hinomaru is going I wouldn't be surprised if it ended soon.
Yeah, probably just the remaining handful matches of this tournament then a jump to a wedding or final match/something to wrap things up.

Beast Children 1

I hope the writer keeps putting the HeroAca references in this, its so cheesy but funny, wonder if the night on the galactic railroad was a call out to act age as well.

Really awesome start and I kind of love that the spectator (sora) was the one getting all of the emotions the whole time and not just or not only Sakura, made it feel different than the others and honestly I hope it inspires Sora to play rugby as well.

Dont really see Yukito as a Kags clone at this point as he is willing to actually play with Sakura and even give him tips and probably wont be totally against him next chapter (I hope).

Ill assume we're gonna get a time skip to high school.

I hear the Sunspot 1

Great BL, or rather great development of friendship between boys. Kohei with his declining hearing and Taichi just getting so interested in helping him and getting to know him was intriguing and not just because he was, like the femchars, driven by the novelty of getting with someone who was like he is.

Really loved the deep emotions and tears shed but also how amazing and happy Taichi could look whenever he got good food or got a smile or something from Kohei, and Kohei could smile and laugh amazingly too. Really lovely friendship the whole manga and looking forward to what they experience next.

Karada Sagashi 2-10

Really enjoying this so far, some of the panels are hella creepy and I'm liking the characters so far (Shōta is such an asshole though lol).

The end of the first chapter is kind of a fake out though. The characters are actually stuck in a time loop which means dying isn't definitive (at least so far).

A warning to any reading Bard Loen:
At its heart, it's a feel-good story that wants to cut out your heart and leave you sobbing on the floor. Be prepared to cry.
That said, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes seemingly well-grounded fantasy stories.

No World Trigger this month. Ashihara's gallbladder surgery resulted in intestinal complications, so he needs additional time to recover.

Wow that's terrible. I hope they recover.

Really sucks that The Last Saiyuki seems like it'll be canceled. I've really been digging it.

With Double Taisei, I have to say I didn't expect them to go this route. Maybe this will help make it interesting.

Beast Children reminds me a lot of Haikyu. Like a lot a lot. At least it seems charming enough.

Wow Mikage is incredible but his BF is sitting here getting all emotional and thinking Mikage was just playing with him the entire time. I think Mikage wants to be a director just like his dad instead of actually acting anyway.

Interesting chapter.

Kaguya, Neverland and Gotoubun got huge boosts so yeah. Not that they sold bad before, it's just that backlog sales sold very well and new volumes got bigger numbers. Before the anime, Gotoubun was selling 160k, Kaguya was selling 180k and Neverland over 300k. Now Gotoubun sells over 300k, Kaguya reaches 250k and Neverland reaches 500k.

Probably never considering that it's from Shonen Sunday and companies don't seem to have interest on titles on the magazine and Shogakukan titles on other magazines are the ones more requested like on Gessan.

Anime always helps a lot unless a series is already well established enough to have hit saturation like One Piece or AoT

Yeah. For example, the biggest boost ever was One Piece due to Strong World in the beginning of the 2010s where it was selling over 30 million in a year

Here the best-selling manga from 2008 to 2018 as an example

I hear the Sunspot Theory of Happiness END

This volume is my favorite of the ones I've read so far as it hits every single note that I love.

I got the misunderstanding involvement, the blatant confession from Kohei delivered with sign language that just works its way into Taichi's mind making him finally realize things, and the aspect of time away from one another resulting in Taichi just realizing how much he needs Kohei in his life. Really, this is just plain wonderful and easily one of my favorite Yaoi manga in ages. Like we even got both a hug and a kiss scene that I just love love love to death in these, like, it was enough to make me smile so big and brightly, lol.

Overall, really awesome entry.

I also like the continued thing in the background with the hearing impaired in this sort of middle ground between not being able to be with the totally deaf people but also not being able to be around the non hearing impaired, just an intriguing situation and intriguing way to see Maya and Kohei deal with in their own ways.

Wow, good on 5Toubun. It deserves it. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a harem series this much, considering I'm usually not a fan of the genre.

Kaguya and Promised Neverland are good and deserve the sales. Everything else is to be expected.

Should really give Slime a try at some point. Probably once I'm over my isekai burnout.

I dont think Kaguya anime got popular because of the writing tho. It got popular because the humor and the likeable characters and that is something that Komi doesnt lack

I wouldn't say the writing in Komi-san isn't as strong, the two series are just looking to do two vastly different things.

Granted I'm of the opinion that Komi san's cast isn't super great until chracters like Yamai and Agari are dropped in the new semester in favor of less awful characters like Manbagi

I wouldn't say the writing in Komi-san isn't as strong, the two series are just looking to do two vastly different things.
They are both doing different things but Komi san at least early on really relied on characters with basically one gimmick running the jokes, while Kaguya generally opted for characters that evolved with the running jokes as the series advanced.

Oof, it's a shame to see Dr Stone at the bottom here. It's a joy to read every week, so hopefully the anime gives it a sizable boost.

World Trigger doing so well is great to see though, its easily one of the most underrated shounen's out there.

Dr. Stone 105

So it's a weapon, and it has weaknesses.
Anyone else think Dr. Stone is ending soon? There's 118 elements on the periodic table, and the chapter numbering "Z=" references that. Perhaps it will go beyond that...
I'd be a little surprised if it ended that soon. Not sure that is enough time to introduce the 'why' person, conclude that conflict, then end the series. Can't rule it out though.

Also looks like Crunchyroll is gearing up to push the anime. Suppose it will cover through chapter 45 (ending at the stone war name drop). Hope the anime turns out well since it could (potentially) fix the biggest flaw of the series with the female character art.
I'm happy for Yaiba and worried for Act-Age. I really hope a potential anime will boost its popularity. Please don't let it die.
I wouldn't worry about Act-Age. It's already pretty popular and still growing. Plus some of the longer running series like Food Wars and Sumo may be ending by the end of the year, so there should be space even if several from the last two serialization rounds really take off.

I hear the Sunspot Limit v1

The increasing levels of potential jealously from Kohei continues to be one of my favorite parts as seeing him unsettled and rattled is an interesting part of his character, when he was was always so well put together I one wondered if he had any weaknesses beyond his anxieties with his hearing. To see this character flaw in him and see it guide his words and thoughts towards Taichi is very intriguing.

Taichi, on the other hand, continues to mature in profound ways and finally reached the point where he had to admit that the thing with his grandfather really affected him, but also that the friendship he has with Kohei, is actually something deeper. What this deeper thing was, was unclear and undefined but its clear it will get explored in a future volume.

Overall the ongoing developments with work and seeing Taichi finally bond with Chiba, the continued aspect of deaf and non-hearing-impaired folks working together, and lastly, Kohei and his thing complicated with Ryu and the hearing implants really got me excited for the next volume.

I liked Komi-san when it was characters reacting to their relationship advances. Then it started to go more into the life of the students and their own tales. And while normally for these comedies I appreciate the expanded cast getting their own life, it doesn't do it for me in Komi-san for SOME reason.
