Tokyo drift (such a bad fast and furious) is a good thread title for a Smartphone "game" :p
Yeah I thought the OT title was a good double meaning if this turned out to be a bad game in the series. lol

Once you get in you can activate drifting with motion controls, which might be the proper way to go.Handling is terrible. You have to choose between only turning or only drifting, if I'm not mistaken. Drifting has advantages, but it's difficult to adjust the kart after exiting a turn. I'll give it some more time tomorrow.
Nah, if you turn manual off, straight is easy.the controls are just really bad, like if im having trouble with it, i cant imagine how casuals are gonna do with it. you cant even stay straight

Did you get her from the mandatory pull after the first cup?
i think the worry is that its going to be massive success, for like a day, and people start realizing it has no multilayer and will cause quite an uproar
Ive been best with Manual + Smart Steering, haven't touched gyro, but it feels like Mario Kart as in you're trying to drift at every chance. So; what's recommended for the control options? Smart steering and manual drifting off?
I think the game will end up seeing a huge increase in numbers when mutliplayer is added in. That's what people want, and people will probably jump in when that happens.Yep. Huge download numbers at first, but probably a weak staying power.
We'll see. Personnally, as much as I love Mario kart, this thing is totally a non event for me. I will probably download it, but I'm sure It won't stay long on my phone...
So I'm confused. I played a race and I appear to be getting into a lobby with other players? Or is the game just faking it and pasting players' usernames on CPUs? Because if its not multiplayer it sure does give the illusion fairly well.
Yeah, the fact that you can' skip the intro makes it obvious they're bots. Most people will think you can only play with randoms and multiplayer will be with friends, but nah. What it's presumably doing is taking the stats of other players, you're basically playing with ghosts. So I'm confused. I played a race and I appear to be getting into a lobby with other players? If there was actual multiplayer, they wouldn't be clumped up together so much as the race goes on.Same question. Friend of mine just played a race in front of me, and the other racers had unconventional names for CPU AIs, including names in Japanese characters. Are we sure there's no multiplayer? Or is it simply that we can't play MP with friends yet?

Even those the whole "searching for other players" thing. Are we sure there's no multiplayer? Or is it simply that we can't play MP with friends yet?

They're bots using real player data/character & kart selection.
Yes. They're bots. But everyone sucks at the game right now (heck, my friend and I even won the race), so it's not that surprising.
Are you saying they're literally simulating a MP race by fake-searching AI players and giving more original names? I mean, I could see it, especially if Nintendo is anticipating some backlash due to the lack of MP, but it strikes me as pretty cynical.
Oooooh. I see. Makes sense. Still a bit manipulative if you ask me.

Yeah, I'm rerolling for Pauline right now. There's an option in-game to start over for those that want to reroll at the beginning.
if people think its multiplayer maybe not having multiplayer wont be that big of an issue (:
Bots with actual player names is pretty standard for mobile gamesBut everyone sucks at the game right now (heck, my friend and I even won the race), so it's not that surprising.
