A solid choice yes and seems to confirm the following rumour from Reddit a few months ago:
"Auditions are well underway for the show and I've been told that four names in an audition script are Eldien, Beldor, Aric and Tyra. These could likely be fake names for audition purposes or real names to be used in the show. Wish I could have found out more about the contents of the audition script."

Just a preliminary casting name I would think. Actual character names won't be revealed for a while, and I doubt we'll hear about Sauron/Mairon/Annatar's casting before the premiere. He'll be kept a secret.

I wouldn't be surprised if an actor with androgynous features, woman or man, was cast in that role. It would be befitting of an ethereal spirit in human raiment.

Yeah, I could see Tilda Swinton playing Annatar and the characters in the story not really knowing who this mysterious being is at first.
