Like the bad impression Ffxv had its entire run to release? And went on to sell 8-9 mil and ppl still call it the first ff ever? I'm all for not liking the look of a game but sometimes ppl on here take it way to the extremes and project a lot. It's the avengers by a Known studio coming in the fall with multiplayer..Revisionist history? I'm speaking for myself...I'm not speaking for any community. All of the EA Star Wars games have looked great before launch and has sold as much. Most of the people here that thought the Battlefront games would bomb was because of bitterness against GaaS, and comparisons against older Battlefront games which alot of people playing games now did not play.
Plus remember everyone...we've never seen Square Enix market ANYTHING well. Good luck overcoming that bad first impression that most of this thread sees.
Almost all the games you play have GaaS elements. It's not a big deal.
Yes, just like most comic book movies sell well...didn't prevent Justice League from flopping because everyone could see from a mile away that it is trash. We've only had 3 "big IP games" I believe (the 2 Star Wars games, Spider-Man...and I'll throw in Batman even though I'm not sure when the last one of those released)...those all looked infinitely better than this game has in even its best form.
And to be clear, I think I speak for everyone saying this game will flop, we mean that this game will not break even for Square Enix. No way.
The FFXV game...from one of the top brands in gaming, and the lead franchise of a whole genre? Comparing this to a hyper-generic beat 'em up...Like the bad impression Ffxv had its entire run to release? And went on to sell 8-9 mil and ppl still call it the first ff ever? How is that moving the goalposts? The point is, the strength of an IP means little for the sales success of a new product.Wait, you are moving the goalposts. We went from "look at the other big movie properties that flopped as games" to "well none of them flopped but other movies did!"
Or just a Black PantherI wish instead of doing an Avengers game, they focused on just doing an Iron Man or Captain America game.

Good movies do well. Bad movies don't....good games do well...bad games don't...don't know why you are trying to over-complicate it.
Agreed to a degree, but Avengers, as an IP, has very large sales potential. If the game reaches 9 million, sure they game is very profitable, but it would have failed to reach it's potential success. Spider-man has shown Marvel just how much their IPs can climb sales wise when the right publisher-developer combo is in charge. No it wouldn't. If the game sold 10 million it would be a big success. If the game sold 5-9 million, it likely would still be a success. And I'm not even including any type of extra revenue generated by GaaS DLC and microtransactions. Obviously it's all dependent on the overall production and marketing budget of the game. Spider-Man was a massive success and the fact it was exclusive to one platform makes it all the more impressive.
Ok, given that context I can see what you mean.Agreed to a degree, but Avengers, as an IP, has very large sales potential. Avengers will make A LOT of money... But I don't buy for second that Marvel won't side eye SE and Crystal if they fail to launch a multiplatform Avengers game to similar success to the PS4 exclusive Spider-man. That does not mean that the game wouldnt be a big success, but it does mean that the benchmark that Spider-man set was not cleared by a multiplatform Avengers.
I don't know how the game itself will turn out but if this shit doesn't sell well I'm bumping this thread and roasting all of you. Both of y'all in a bubble. The game will be decent and it'll sell a buttload of copies because it's *ahem* the fucking AVENGERS.
yep. Also there's 0 chance that there's just these six as playable.
disregarding the characters that will be added as free DLC later, there will assuredly be playable characters in the base game that they haven't revealed yet. If I had to guess, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel would all be likely.
Almost all the games you play have GaaS elements. It's not a big deal.
seriously. worst business decision ever.72 hours early access, get the FUCK outta here with that nonsense.
People aren't surprised at them looking different, they are surprised at them looking kinda bad.I'm really surprised that so many people in this thread are so unused to the idea of comic book characters looking different from artist to artist. The MCU is just one take on the roster.
Okay, but I'm not really surprised by those people. I'm surprised by the ones who explicitly said it was the fact that they look different, going back to even the first page. I think those are the ones I mentioned.People aren't surprised at them looking different, they are surprised at them looking kinda bad.
Especially when MUA3 has come out so recently and looks very good in the character designs.

Still hoping that this one will have good SP campaign. If not then I'm out.
The game will probably set some records in sales for SE though, being Marvel's and Avengers and all.
I'm still thinking that Disney of all companies would be much better off creating their own game development arm instead of relying on 3rd parties and thus robbing us of gaming IPs we like or new IPs altogether.
Yeah it will sell well but fail to match Spidey despite having more platforms.Prediction this will sell less than Ps4's Spiderman. The cutscenes look super bland, and the overall design looks off.
Poor Hawkeye, getting the boot from the "Main Six". How many characters is this game supposed to have?
You answered your own question. Then clarify what you mean regarding these DC projects please. Because GaaS is heavily associated with things like Destiny, Anthem, etc.
Even though having expansions & DLCs through season passes is technically GaaS, everyone knows that's not what the implication of the word is
12 is more than fine, no need for 30 hours of "go fetch this from the same place again" side "content".Supposedly it's got a 12+ hour story campaign. 30 if you do all the side content.
Would Spider-Man be in it? He's not typically associated with the Avengers, but he's fucking Spider-Man!Unknown, but certainly more than 6. I'm positive they have playable characters they haven't shown off yet, including Hawkeye and probably Black Panther and Captain Marvel too.
Not to mention all the DLC heroes that they'll be adding as time goes on
I don't know how the game itself will turn out but if this shit doesn't sell well I'm bumping this thread and roasting all of you.
Exactly how I feel.Feels a lot like Fallen Order to me. I think it'll be a solid game but nothing that makes it great, but it will still sell because there really ain't much else out there as far as the property goes.

The game's going to have Captain Britain too then? With Kamala front and center, Carol has to be in the game in some way.
I really don't think that's the case. We wouldn't have comments like "bootleg/porn Avengers" if it was just about costume designs. It's the realistic art style coupled with faces that aren't the actors, along with an aesthetic that tries to mimic the MCU's functional costume design. These costumes aren't my favorite designs or anything (and I do think Cap's is straight up bad), but they're not nearly bad enough alone to warrant the negative reaction people have had to the "look" of the game.People aren't surprised at them looking different, they are surprised at them looking kinda bad.
