there's a very real chance there are personal records in there (addresses, credit card info, emails, personal documentation). The ransom note basically suggested as much (but it could be a bluff).

some would also make the argument that if an artist doesn't want people to see their drafts it's a violation of that privacy
I have seen the actual website of the group that committed this crime and they are openly displaying deeply private and personal documentation like a passport of an employee and letters from HR

Poodlestrike Are administrators aware of this thread and looking into it? I have to agree that having this thread open with some many just salivating over the leaked information given the hacker source is, at a minimum, really uncomfortable.
I think so?

I'm on break until sometime December. Best way to get this stuff surfaced is to report it, anyway.

But I can ping somebody for ya.

I agree. I'm not sure this forum or any respectable place should be hosting this content.
At the moment nobody is hosting any personal content on this forum. I'm sure the mods will crack down heavily if people try.

I agree that the stolen personal information is awful, and I hope the criminals will be caught. However, as long as Era doesn't share any personal information, people should be able to discuss the news here.
I'm even a little iffy about rehosting the pictures, tbh, but I'm not a mod.

Did I miss something? Was Resident Evil 8 always exclusive to Sony? I thought it was a timed exclusive.

Sad this stuff leaked. The fact that the two Monster Hunter games for next year are both coming to PC is surprising, but I guess it makes sense for them to feel confident that Rise would do similar numbers to World. That absolutely means they're considering the PC audience.

The info is out there and people are going to talk about it regardless. As long as its game-related i dont see any issue with this thread.

If the Ace Attorney collection was 1-6 it'd at least have a chance of coming to the West, but I can't imagine they're localize the DGS games now if they didn't want to initially, when the series was way hotter.

RE4 VR is interesting. I assume the (alleged) remake? I like the idea of VR getting more of a push, and horror games are obviously the primo genre for it.

Ransomware really is getting increasingly worse. To combat more sophisticated backup and disaster recovery, attackers are not just encrypting anymore, but also threatening to leak major data like this. It sucks :(

yeah, the site locks news threads for less historically

I'd say we probably shouldn't acknowledge all this

I'll probably request a mod to delete this thread then

No chance this info won't be discussed here but people have been bringing up good points ITT. Don't really want to be attached to this anymore.

The bigger story here is that a major video game company was seriously hacked, less so than the info was leaked. Lot of people missing that here. They easily could still be being extorted -- leaking roadmap stuff is small potatoes compared to potentially leaking source code or proprietary internal things or non public finance data etc.

So google has to pay to bring big third party games when xbox, playstation, PC get them for free? To bring them to stadia and they themselves barely have any first party games? When are they hoping this will end? This is a money sink for a platform that nobody wants and buys games from, truly Luna might steal their lunch before they get a chance to eat it if this keeps going and they keep losing money and google finally cans it.

Nothing new about that. It is the responsibility of the brand to create the demand by making the offer, you cannot expect for people to join Stadia, without the games being there first. Look at how Sony had to pay for the RE7 VR version, that is the same situation but with the PSVR. If Stadia gets to have a big player base, then developers will naturally want to publish their games there.

I really want MH switch but I played through World on PC and having a 3070 makes me excited for ray tracing possibilities

I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but hearing about a PC release makes me think that whatever they're building is scaleable, and that MHRise might end up looking even better than it already does on a Switch revision :P

I agree that it's a bigger story, but it also had its own thread, this is the followup to the hacking story. I'm pretty sure I learned of this attack from Era, because I knew about it and don't really visit any gaming news sites.

I am serious. This forum has banned discussion of Angry Joes videos, Pewdiepie, and problematic games and genres. Hentai games, pornographic games, etc.

So it is perfectly possible not to give a platform to blackmailers as well

If you want to discuss this shit you should find somewhere else to do it,

so ignore the thread

The fucking mental gymnastics to justify giving these assholes a platform for their scams

You should be a politician lol.
I think you'd not say this if your personal info, including home address, salary, family information, was included in a data leak. Just saying.

Assuming the thread does get closed down I do wanna make a point that my post was neither an endorsement nor a defense. I was simply laying what I've taken to be the facts and most likely thought process. At least this info wasn't like the Sony Pictures hack where we had straight emails and thus conversations with named people to work with. This info was in effect a private corporate deck.

All of that said, the fact that the group involved actually is reportedly publically touting around personal info is of massive concern, and while this thread has intended to keep neutral and sanitized I could see the mods potentially acting upon that. All I say then is the Capcom game info is still out there, it's going to get covered by articles and videos and I doubt this site can just turn blinders to all of that.

People were freely sharing pics in the nintendo leak threads. As long as theres no personal info it should be fair game.

To be clear we won't allow any posting of personal information, no linking to source code or anything else that might qualify as piracy; in fact let's be safe and say no links to any downloads at all. And no links to any shady sites where such things might be found.

But information, the fact that this has happened, is news. And news should be covered. That doesn't mean condoning hacking or leaking, but this is going to be reported on and pretending that it didn't happen isn't sensible. This isn't the first time that a hack or leak has produced news, and in both gaming and world news, that's always been fair game for discussion. Discussing the ethics of leaks is also fair game.

If you see any posts with inappropriate content please report it. Do not attack other members. Do not endorse criminal acts. Period. Thank you.
