Nintendo can also spin early results in their favor. Literally ever single company in the world does this

Of course they can, but Nintendo France has been backing up Reggie's statements recently, so there is some truth to these claims. We won't have to wait much longer for more info either, Nintendo has another IR meeting next week, which will give us some insight into what specifically Nintendo's plans and expectations for Labo are.

So then why was Nintendo so incompetent in their shipping? Clearly if they weren't expecting any of the stock to sell they wouldn't have shipped so much right? Nobody wants their shelves full of unsold stock for months on end

Nintendo likely shipped an amount that would sell at a consistent rate over the course of Spring and Summer. Their strategy, as it's been said before, is pitching Labo as a Toy first and foremost, so the vast majority of its sales will be during the holiday. This is evident in the fact that they deliberately avoided running a huge marketing campaign for its launch, and kept its promotion limited to special videos on its YouTube channel. Nintendo has different expectations for Labo than their traditional Switch games, the problem likely comes from retailers expecting it to sell like a traditional major first party release (IE, nearly selling out within the first week or so).

Yeah, I don't agree with the gloom regarding Labo's performance. We have Nintendo France and Nintendo of America both saying what many of us had been saying and there haven't been price cuts despite sell-through being low per video game standards. I think it's pretty obvious Nintendo and retailers are on the same page. Labo will be a flop if the inevitable holiday marketing blitz fails to spark interest, but you're not seeing retailers slashing prices because Labo is performing the way it was expected to. As said above, the limited marketing they did before launch should be proof enough that Nintendo isn't bullshitting when they talk about their expectations.

would you dare to contradict reggie?

What's the worst that could happen?

So will the release be earlier than usual since it's delayed or are we going to have to wait till 630 est.
