maybe dumb question for legal-pot-ERA

Hey all, Canadian here.

so I bought this grinder, which is almost pornographic in its fit and finish:

I am a long time user for insomnia, now very pleased to have such easy and regulated access to pot, and I know a fair bit... or I think I did...
this thing seemed to fit the bill as I kind of switch between joints and a PAX 2, and I liked that it had 2 different grind wheels.

um, what's the screen for? there's a lower mesh screen in the main compartment that seems to filter out all but, well, "dust".

like I see that it will collect fine particulate, and they make a big deal of how easy it is to change the screens... but I actually have no idea what it's for.
is it for these weird pollen-pucks or some other hitherto-unknown pot variant, of which there are now seemingly way too many??

sorry for the dumb question but my google-fu is failing me because I don't quite know how to phrase the query, and most grinder sites just take it as a given that You Want This.

Its really potent. You can dumb it back into whatever you're gonna "use" right away, or let it collect and have fun later.

ok kief, thank you. but like, do you just smoke it directly, do you bake with it...? I know basically the answer is Yes but like, that would be a pretty dusty joint. and maybe a little too fine for the PAX.

Make a ground bud and kief sandwich, that way the dusty kief doesn't go everywhere. That's what I do for special occasions, and it's magical!

For a dry weed vape this is definitely good advise. Bed of weed, kief, weed on top, lightly pack. Kief on its own works if done right, but can and will get your chamber sticky. Easily cleanable when warm with some 99% Iso alcohol, but sandwiching is good procedure both for maintenance and stretching the kief out.

I was somewhat familiar with this as I knew someone who used a coffee bean grinder for years, and they would clean it out and add the kief to a joint for "special occasions"

well I do now! it even came with a funny rounded guitar-pick thing for cleaning off the screen

Dude, I was raised by an old head, moonrocks are my favorite thing. Roll a bud in kief, douse it in oil and then roll in more kief. A lovely little treat.

Little happy nugs that I soak in distillate, then I till then in kief and wax chunks.

I have a Cali Crusher Homegrown which I really like. I swear the finish is Cerakote, but it might be some other powder coat.

this thread reminds me that i'm in the market for a smoking apparatus and i haven't been in the game since a couple years before it went legal. all the shops i used to go to would emphasize "FOR TOBACCO USE ONLY" and now I wonder what it's like.
