Below is what I have from the MC data I've collected.


Regarding game titles that are often split between multiple skus:

* Some of the db's records have weekly data for the group and only select data for individual components -- "Pokemon Diamond / Pearl" was top on this list because it only listed one entry with a 5.8M LTD 1563 days in, but that doesn't say when it crossed 2M, so that record was deleted.

* Some of the db's records have weekly data for the individual components but only select data for the group. Pokemon X and Y fit this description, where they mostly only list yearly totals for X and for Y on their own.

(edit: hah, swap the above two bullet point descriptions, maybe it's time to hit the bed!)

* JJSlone put up an example earlier (post #311) of a grouped title that lasted longer than anything listed below. In my data set, the three skus of Nintendogs were only listed separately, and the highest of those didn't break 800k. There are doubtless other examples that would qualify in the same way.

Additionally, anything listed in the last week of the year (likely the Week 51s of the first five of this list) were MC Top 1000 yearly results, and that means they might have hit 2M in any of the preceding 365 days of the year, so it's impossible to get an exacting list, regardless of the treatment of the data.

Remaining caveats:

* I picked Saturday when converting from Year/Week from the sales charts. I had to pick a day, and that was the least worst option, preventing potential negative ages.

* Yearly results in my db are listed as "week 99", so there's a quick routine in there that converts it to the last week of that particular year. WARNING: It's MySQL's last week of that year, which might not match up perfectly with MC weeks, but that shouldn't cause too much drift.

Builders 2 escaped price collapse, not the decline. It will be out of charts in a matter of 2-3 months. Switch might hold a bit better but Minecraft will absorb it too In the end.

Looks like Dengeki expect Smash to outsell Splatoon 2 as early as mid-January (2.67m vs 2.88m as of this week), and become best-selling Switch game, based on the current sales trajectory of both games. Well, damn.

Of course, that's retail only, but since Smash most likely has high digital ratio, not sure digital will make that much of a difference when all is said and done.

More revenue was generated due to the higher price of the games and consoles sold. 3rd year in a row that holiday sales are increasing (though only by revenue this time).

Nintendo Switch sales:

- Hardware +25.3%, to 1.86 million units. 72% market share.
- Software +98%, to 6.6 million units (+98%). 71.6% market share
- over 70% market share for Software + Hardware
