Did L5 give the numbers? Can't imagine it did too well on 3DS and those android numbers don't seem too good.So it seems we can't say for certainty that Layton shipped 1m.
True, but still the free download exists so it would be nice to know whether this is included in the "shipment".
I expect higher shipments for Golden Week, especially since it coincides with the Labo release. As for May, I think the Switch can maintain the 45k-50k base line that we're currently seeing. There are quite some high-profile games coming out in May, both first-party and third-party. I have more fears for June than for May.April an May and super slow months for sales, if not the worst.
Next week numbers will be the last "good numbers" for a while. Starting April, be ready for drops everywhere. Zelda baseline won't be 10k anymore, and the same for other games and systems.
If Labo flops, very boring weeks and months incoming.

is labo being tracked like it's a regular game by MC/Famitsu?
maybe they'll consider it a peripheral or some sort of interactive toy?
It will be treated just like WiiFit, a game that appears to have a peripheral, so it is going to be tracked by MC/Famitsu ;)
Still waiting for a more in depth look to five interest. We're less than one month away and there's no hype

June should be fine with Mario Tennis and Sushi Striker, presumably. I think June is generally a better sales month than May.
GEO combines multiplatform SKUs in their preorders, so they're already not a good indicator. They are also combining the two Persona rhythm games, which I can't see being tracked like that in MC or Famitsu. I think its safe to assume MC and Famitsu will track the Labo kits separately unless we hear differently.GEO is counting the two Labo games together in their preorders chart so I don't know what format MC and Famitsu will choose.
The logic would be to count them separately since it is two very different games. We are not in the case of two versions of the same game imo (like with Pokemon, YW...).
Perceived weakness is not true weakness. I have feeling the month will surprise.

It's a leap forward from last year's May. That's for sure. Labo releasing late in April should help HW move at a good clip. So there is something to ease the blow. I know Tropical will do well in the West but I worry about 2D platformer fatigue setting in with it releasing so close after Star Allies.I just mean Switch retail releases. Its Tropical Freeze port at beginning of month and Dark Souls at end of month. Not very impactful.

I'll take your word on it. I hope Nintendo foresees this fatigue and delays the new Yoshi game to 2019. It's really not needed.I don't think fatigue will occur after just two games (which are very different). Plus they're about 2 months apart.

Nintendo should cancel Yoshi entirely and expedite the release of DKCR3. Don't @ me.
There hasn't been a good Yoshi game since 1995. Meanwhile, the Donkey Kong Country series keeps getting better and better. It's a shame that the sales—particularly the Japanese sales—don't reflect that. What kind of debut are we looking at for the TF port?I'll take this singular Yoshi game even if it means they never make another DKC again.

maybe I'm not optimistic today but I have a feeling Labo will flop.
but maybe its success will be determined in the long run and not the opening week or two.
How SE get around Sony's rules for DQX when no one else seemingly can?Already confirmed it'd be PC-only. Well, PC and other Switch players.

Sony wouldn't dare say no to Squenix. They are after all their golden goose. How SE get around Sony's rules for DQX when no one else seemingly can?
Yoshi's Woolly World was fantastic.
And DKC Returns (Wii and 3DS) sold very well in Japan. The only reason Tropical Freeze didn't is because it was a Wii U game.

You're my man. Yoshi Woolly World for me it's one of the best platforms this gen.
The NSMBU rumor is so dumb that I actually believe it. Yeah, many of the Wii U's best games deserve to have a second chance on Switch, but NSMBU was criticized for being derivative six years ago. And that was before they released a cell phone game that has an identical art style.
So that explains why there's been shortages of PS4 HW in Japan. They've been getting less catches thanks to overfishing.
You might not wanna look up how bad overfishing and climate change has affected the ecosystem of the oceans over the years with how species of fish have had their numbers dwindling.

Looking at recent Famitsu numbers, they estimate Switch software's digital ratio to be around 10~15%, at least looking at games which are new on this list. For PS4, it's anywhere from 12 to 32%.
Doing a little math for the Switch's evergreens (since there are only two new games otherwise) based on Famitsu's last numbers up to this period (ending 25 Feb):
[NSW] Splatoon 2 (2017.07.21) - 182.446 Digital / 2.053.828 LTD (8.88% Ratio)
[NSW] Super Mario Odyssey (2017.10.27) - 113.419 Digital / 1.567.958 LTD (7.23% Ratio)
[NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017.04.28) - 92.507 Digital / 1.341.608 LTD (6.90% Ratio)
[NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017.03.03) - 67.858 Digital / 825.289 LTD (8.22% Ratio)
[NSW] Pokken Tournament DX (2017.09.22) - 21.409 Digital / 219.055 LTD (9.77% Ratio)
Anyone who knows more about this stuff, does this seem realistic? Nintendo has a reputation for a lower digital ratio, but it seems low even for that to my eyes.
The PS4 is less supply contained than tuna.So judging by that joke tweet, the PS4 is still supply constrained? Got mixed signals in this thread, with people saying the 20k baseline was proof it was over. But could the situation improve and the baseline go back to 30k+?
Hell yeah. It's definitely my favorite 2D platformer on the Wii U. If Yoshi Switch is even close to being as good, I'll be in nirvana.

In Japan for the end of September we have the following numbers from the official trackers:
Splatoon 2 – 1,19M
Switch - 1.78M
While Nintendo themselves provided a much higher figure for Splatoon 2 for the period ending in 10/1/17:
Splatoon 2 - 1.56M
Difference - 370K
According to Nintendo Splatoon 2 had an attach rate of around 60% by the end of the year in Japan. While according to M-C figures at the time Splatoon 2 had 53% attach rate and 51% according to Famitsu. So in order for Nintendo to be correct Splatoon 2 digital sales for 2017 would have to be between 250-300K.
This should give you an idea of Minecraft's potential digital sales in Japan since it's been constantly above all other games on the eShop since May(so two additional months compared to Splatoon 2 and much bigger digital sales during December), my guestimate for Minecraft Switch is >750K at this point for Japan.
