Pokémon Sword/Shield had >32% digital sales at first week, Animal Crossing should have a bigger ratio. It definitely beat Pokémon Black/White for best opening with digital (>2.64m).
Was this game first announced in the Isabelle trailer for Smash? Wonder if they'll try something like that again.

Out of curiosity, what were week 1 of the N64 and GameCube games?
With this week YTD Switch HW matches W25 of 2019, a nice 13 weeks earlier.
Switch passes Wii LTD, and is a nice 4.1M away from passing GBA.
At current pace it wont be able to pass GBA this year, but next year it should pass GBA, SFamicon, Playstation, Famicon and PSP to become top 5 selling hardware in japan ever.

I don't think nintendo would have access to other non Nintendo numbers to "officially" call it the highest ever in Japan
though they could release a PR saying it's their personal best which would basically be the same thing
