Fixed! For some reason interest for Splatoon 2 is increasing since holidays despite NSO beeing a thing.

A real Panel de Pon game rather than a DLC spinoff?
Doubtful. Nintendo hasn't cared about stand alone Panel De Pon games since the really really lackluster Puzzle League on DS. I could see them maybe doing a Tetris 99 type of reboot though.
Well, you've just said what people want, and I definitely don't want a poor Puzzle League spinoff again :pDoubtful. Nintendo hasn't cared about stand alone Panel De Pon games since the really really lackluster Puzzle League on DS. I could see them maybe doing a Tetris 99 type of reboot though.

Yeah, and Tomodachi Collection, and i guess in a sense Mario Kart if you want to look at single SKUs.Amazing numbers for AC and Switch. Now wondering what other franchises are left to break records? Metroid, DK?

Metroid Prime 4 has a chance to be the best selling Metriod Prime game in Japan.

The core issue was always if big portable software numbers (+3-6m) could be recreated with the games being more expensive. No one was wondering if AC or Pokemon on Switch could sell as they did on 64 or Cube - as you say AC was on consoles before and successful considering those circumstances....but people were wondering if Smash, Pokemon, AC and co. could hit numbers on Switch they had reached before on DS/3DS.I'm guessing he means that Animal Crossing isnt specifically a portable franchise in a response when you said "big portable franchises".
On that subject, i think it was a fair point to speculate how the increased prices would affect the sales, but it can be kinda funny looking back on that subject even so (i guess thats what you mean?) :) I guess that the price increase didnt really affect things that much because it was still within a reasonable price range, and people were/are used to paying $60 for games (it might have different if the price went from $60 to $80 instead of $40 to $60). And that people see the value in the games even at a $40 and $60 pricetag of course =)
Technically Switch is now the best selling home console post-PS2.🤭
Switch's future hit list:
Lite superior model confirmed.Just noticed that the Lite has now sold more units in 2020 than the OG model. Wonder how long this will last.
3rd time. Never forget 400k of Knack. This is the second time Sony gives a game for free with PS4. Iceborne Master Edition was ¥6.990 and Final Fantasy VII Remake ¥8.980.
PlayStation 4 Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne Master Edition Starter Pack <BUN> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2019.09.06} (¥29.980)
PlayStation 4 Pro Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne Master Edition Starter Pack <BUN> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2019.09.06} (¥39.980)
PlayStation 4 Final Fantasy VII Remake Pack <BUN> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2020.04.10} (¥29.980)

That's not how any of this worksI don't understand why everyone is so shocked that Switch is doing so well. Nintendo only has one system now compared to two before (a console and a handheld).
Is Switch doing better than Wii and DS combined? I don't have the data in front of me, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. Is it even doing better than Wii U and 3DS combined?

We'll see how weekend goes but so far the signs are that Animal Crossing will have a huge second week.
Then tell me how it works then. Nintendo is selling significantly less hardware than the Wii/DS days.
Even then, it shouldn't surprise anyone that two products with with two separate game libraries are selling more combined than a single platform.PS4 ain't selling PS3+PSP numbers either... You can Vita to PS4 and it doesn't make much difference.
Xbox is definitely down.
Guess the whole industry is doing badly.

The Switch better gonna sell 250 millions or Nintendo is doomed!I don't understand why everyone is so shocked that Switch is doing so well. Nintendo only has one system now compared to two before (a console and a handheld).

speaking of Bayonetta, i read a few weeks ago it placed #2 most anticipated Switch games on a Famitsu poll, only after Animal Crossing (though AC of course was much higher numbers)I mean, we may not get first week sales higher than this, but there's still 2D Mario, Tomadachi Life, Nintendogs, and Mario Kart 9 they could put out to expand the userbase.
More mature games like Bayonetta, Metroid Prime, and the like aren't going to sell anywhere close to Animal Crossing, but they will expand the Switch audience to a different crowd.
I never said the industry is doing badly or that Switch isn't doing well. Nice try, though.

Why are you comparing 1 platform to 2 unique platforms? Right now Nintendo has Switch and mobile games and their business is doing really well. Switch should not have to outsell 2 platforms combined.I never said the industry is doing badly or that Switch isn't doing well. Nice try, though.

Great to hear, maybe if we are lucky we can have a 100k hw week next week (I'm hopeful for 150k but who knows)
And also hello old friend if you happen to remember me!
Shout outs also to Ryng and My mortal rival Kerotan ;P

I would imagine it's probably due to new users, no? Splatoon's visuals surely appeal to female consumers more than a typical game might and AC is definitely bringing in a lot of new female buyers of the system. For some reason interest for Splatoon 2 is increasing since holidays despite events being cancelled.
Exactly. The Switch doesn't need to sell like two platforms because it only has the costs associated with one platform.
