Clubhouse game is the 51 games right ?
That looked awesome, better than any mario party ever honestly.
Well it has to be Monolith, they're adding new content and story. That's not something a third party could do
Yeah I just thought about it after. I was going to sledp when I posted that, didn't really think it through.

Apparently Clubhouse Games on DS sold over 600k copies in both the UK and Japan but less than 1.34m in the rest of the world? How can a Nintendo game be so huge in the UK but not globally?

Well those should both do 100k+ on Switch along with Momotaro Dentetsu. Clubhouse Games should do nice numbers too, it has been something the Switch has been desperately needing.

With Nintendo looking so strongly at more casual focused games like Animal Crossing, Brain Training, RingFit Adventure, and Clubhouse Games, it wouldn't surprise me to see either a Nintendogs or Switch Sports revival in the second half of the year to go along with whatever their main title is going to be.

Atlus got people talking about Persona 5 Switch again lol. The Fully Body stuff is surprising though.

The Switch has decent enough lineup and updates coming to old games to lead into the next Direct, which will probably come in June.
Don't understand why people are so surprised? Its not like atlus was committed to not put anything on the switch, atlus are slow but they were gonna put more games on switch sooner or later

Them handling it themselves and it being Fully Body is the surprising part. We knew Catherine was coming to Switch because of ratings.

Konami including Switch at mainline entries of Power Pro isn't a small deal despite being ignored. It's big series and leaves Sony exclusivity after a very long time.

Konami tested the waters, and seen good results. They did what every other company should have been doing and not care too
much about loyalty to Sony.

UK loves these type of casual games. The Wii and DS did huge numbers there too. I think Club House Games will do better worldwide but it may be digital heavy so we will have to rely on Nintendo for the shipments.

The rebranding of Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu sucks.
Dropping the "Jikkyou" part to include "eBASEBALL" in the title. Who thought that was a good idea ffs.

Also, the Switch versions of JPPY 2020, which seems to be feature complete, will be 1000 yen cheaper than the PS4 editions: 6980 yen vs 7980 yen for the standard editions and 8980 yen vs 9980 yen for the digital special edition.

Not really, this has happened before (games getting additional content not from original devs). Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is one example. It could also be a case of external dev taking care of development, and Monolith Soft. only doing the additional content. Actually, I'd say that's the most likely scenario, I imagine they're busy with other projects at the moment, so outsourcing seems like a no-brainer.

If someone can confirm that the JPN version has english language options I may get it from amazon.co.jp since it's up over there

It's a global SKU, so yes.

Yeah but still I'd expect Europe as a whole to follow usually, they also love Wii/DS type casual games. It seems like it was big in France too, which doesn't leave much for other countries.

Indeed. While the franchise has seen several releases on Nintendo portable systems the past few years, with Power Pro Kun on 3DS, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Heroes on 3DS and last year's Switch game, this is the first time a mainline entry is released on a Nintendo console since Jikkyou Powerful Pro Next / 2009 on Wii

Which companies are those ? I guess the classic example is Falcom? The bigger companies do make multiplatform games, but not always for Switch.

Whether or not Winning Eleven this year follows suit will probably depend on when they're ditching Fox Engine.
Wasnt Power Pro also on Fox Engine? Do we know which engine its running on now?

Curious to see how XCDE will fare on the eShop. Unlike XC2, it's much cheaper (it's 5 980 Yen, so same as Animal Crossing), but at least vouchers are a thing from the very beginning. We'll see next week with the eShop charts, though the sea of 90% off sales aren't going to help it chart high.

What people do not understand about successful franchises is that in order to succeed you must create something completely new which only takes core elements from those franchises and not the art-style or the gameplay. See, for example, Professor Layton within the brain training genre.

I think the only company that has a really good Switch strategy right now is Square which is surprising because you would have thought they were the most Sony centric developer. Outside of multiplatform releases there are other opportunities like Bamco's casual output. They still skip the Switch way too often in their plans though.

Yeah, i was just thinking that many of these companies seemingly have no problem making multiplatform games (and in some cases, exclusive games for different platforms respectively (with Atlus/Sega, Persona 5 for PS4 and Shin Megami Tensei 5 for Switch for example), so i'm not sure its that much related to loyalty to Sony in specific. But i agree with you that Konami is doing a good business decision here, and that other games could also likely benefit from a Switch version.

Whats the difference between Famista and Powerful Pro by the way?

Square Enix has been strong on pretty much every platform since Matsuda took over.

Yeah, Squeenix Switch support isn't really surprising. They go where money is, and avoid platforms where it isn't (ie: Wii U), which I guess is why they still come as "Sony-biased". Of course, it's not "perfect" support, still some no-brainer things not a thing (yet), but overall it's quite solid.

Edit: oh, and looks like the Zelda TP manga has sold over 6m units worldwide. Hopefully this leads to even more adaptations, and not just Zelda.

What did people think of the Ninjala gameplay? It seems to be a relatively high budget and well made, one thing I didn't initially consider is that going F2P the game doesn't require NSO to be played online. Not relative to Japan I was also surprised to see it's gonna be localized in a lot of languages (english, FIGS, chinese and korean).

Yep, a number of Touch Gen games did well here in the UK. Heck, I ever remember DQ9 charting well, Nintendo ran ads to promote it to the touch gen audience.
