This further cements the narrative that it sells what it ships

Otherwise we would see it drop like everything else

Indeed.

This doesn't mean, of course, Switch would have sold 200k without stock issues---demand is still seasonal for obvious reasons. Maybe excess demand in this period is 10-20k units while in busier periods is way larger.

Far Cry 5 drop is pretty good, game is now over 100k. It's already the best-selling single SKU for the Far Cry franchise, and needs less than 30k to become the best-selling Far Cry of all time (all SKUs combined).

That PS4 drop is strange. Were there any promotions in the last few weeks that would have lead to stock issues? I mean it's certainly not Monster Hunter World since that effect was over weeks ago.

What are you talking about?
I'm kind of afraid to speak freely but let's say that it may not look like the current Switch release schedule with all these ports is enough to keep that console's momentum at its previous level. But maybe that's just for this week we will see.

Is it?

This is a weak period---3DS also dropped. PS4 is not a desireable product overall---the past months has been selling on MHW hype.

I suspect you're just looking for reactions because your posts this morning aren't making much sense.

Given that every port has outsold it's predecessor in Japan, I'm not so sure about that.

Edit: I'll also add there there almost 1 million more users on switch than there ever was on the Wii u, do there are plenty of would be first time owners.

I expected it to decline a lot with DBS ending, but somehow the game keeps selling.

Is it?

Yep. I think this was pretty much expected now after the last weak weeks it had. MHW really carried the numbers a lot this year, this year won't be the peak again.

MHW drop is also pretty large: -48% compared to last week's -25%. That's a strong drop, not indicative of any legs for the title.

Also, it failed to sell 2M at retail this week, missing the mark by 585 units.

Super Mario Odyssey had a very small drop this week, much smaller than other titles

Once LABO releases and the Switch garners a new and younger audience, I expect all the evergreen titles to get a shot of sales adrenaline.

Hm, you might be right. I guess I am just surprised that it dropped to 15k. I was expecting it to stay between 20 and 25k.

Why would it? PS4 had never high sales in Japan except from a few increases when a new big game launches. Last few weeks were a bit different because of Monster Hunter, but now it got back to normal.
