I mean, Nintendo was probably right as Switch is selling exceptionally well with evergreens and NSMB. But Yoshi could have been moved to Fall to give it more space. Of course it doesn't seem there was any game to replace it.
I know, they probably didn't have much of a choice. NSMBU couldn't be released later or earlier as smash, Pokémon, and Mario party occupied the end of 2018.
Yoshi was delayed, likely for similar reasons.
Mario Maker is probably ready to go, but shouldn't launch closer to NSMBU or Yoshi. Presumably Fire Emblem needs all the time it could get

Did they cancel NSO?

Spring break + demo, and even then it's just a blip. Still below 9K, as predicted for the post NSO baseline (5-10K). It might rise up to 15K for the very long upcoming GW (30k+ last year), and possibly for Obon where it does strong numbers (25-ishK last year).

I reply to your post/graph explaining the possible factors affecting Splatoon 2 baseline other than NSO introduction. Can you reply here? Thanks.

Surprisingly low for Yoshi. And it didn't push any hardware, apparently. It's unfortunate because the game looks more polished, and let's say it outright more interesting than Kirby which released last year at the same period and ended up doing great. There might be some 2 plateformer fatigue on the system.

No. I answered in countless of threads before and I'm certainly not going to hijack that one. I'll post the graph from time to times when I feel like it, and answer some times to times when I feel like it. Feel free to answer me, or block me, or whatever makes you feel comfortable :).

Wow... very poor start for Yoshi! 3rd worst in series history I believe (only beating out Woolly World on Wii U and Topsy Turvy on GBA). WTF!?

So bad in fact that it dragged Switch down with it!

That's not the way that Media Create should end... :(

Hopefully the US will come to Yoshi's rescue again... just like it did for Woolly World...

You never replied to my counterarguments and you kept repeating your point without considering those additional factors. That's why I gave you the possibility to reply here. Thanks.

Not for the first half.
Even if we get a direct announced in the next 10 minutes, a physical release needs a few months ahead of time for pre orders and I don't see Nintendo stuffing June with more titles

May is still open...

I could see them surprise releasing Pikmin 3 and MPT then... After all, Labo VR was only just announced on March 6th; just barely more than 4 weeks before its release; and that's a great big hulking box of cardboard! (Hell, that has TWO SKUs and all!). It's also managed to gather quite the media buzz in that short time; much more than previous Labo titles in the west!

There's still time for a surprise mid-late May release; especially for lower priority titles like Pikmin 3 DX and MPT HD...

Somewhere. I think.
10./17. [NSW] Splatoon 2 # <ACT> (Nintendo) {2017.07.21} (¥5.980) - 8.706 / 3.020.833 (+14%)

This was the week of the special demo, btw. Looks like it did have a noticeable impact. Hopefully they do more such weeks in the future. Next one during Summer holidays would be good.

Why does Dengeki get written off? Looking back historically M Create/Dengeki/Famitsu haven't been too off from each other on aggregate (large week-to-week fluctuations sometimes), and it's not like MC/Famitsu are always close with Dengeki way off.

Not surprised that Yoshi isn't doing well. The game may look cute, but it honestly just doesn't look fun. At least Kirby Star Allies had fun abilities to use and characters to bring in to your party or play as & lots of co-op options. Yoshi just looks bland.

Yoshi has a higher metacritic than Kirby but the Kirby brand is probably better than the Yoshi one.
kirby Star Allies is pretty bad

Switch only 137.808 units below PS4
PS4 only 3423 units below 8M

Next week PS4 will reach 8 million.

How long will Switch need to reach PS4 numbers? End of April? End of May?
Don't miss the next chapter!!

They release their numbers later and you don't need 3 different tracker numbers in the OP.

I think end of April is possible... Depends on how kind the start of Golden Week is to it...

... either way it'll happen well before the end of May.

Looks like Switch will reach 1m YTD next week, even if sales drop hard. That's much faster than last year.

Oh, and 8m in early May at the latest (unless GW is incredibly poor).

Fairly standard SRW drop no?
Yes
I guess? But opening was lower than usual, so the drop hurts it more.

Barely
05./01. [PS4] Super Robot Wars X # <SLG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2018.03.29} (¥8.600) - 10.460 / 95.010 <80-100%> (-88%)
10./03. [PSV] Super Robot Wars X # <SLG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2018.03.29} (¥7.600) - 6.452 / 61.849 <80-100%> (-88%)

08./02. [PS4] Super Robot Wars T # <SLG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2019.03.20} (¥8.600) - 9.750 / 90.978 (-88%)

It'll be interesting to see if NSW continues the streak of -88% :p

I agree, but we know ratings have nothing to do with topping charts. Anthem sold #1 in US for it's opening month & #1 in UK & Japan in their week 1 charts, despite having a metacritic score under 60. They're not related. Kirby has more flashy stuff going on, which is more likely going to wrap in younger kids, as well as more mascot characters. Crafted World doesn't have some obvious gameplay hook to bring people in that don't already buy all the Yoshi games. This is just my opinion though, as I played thru the Yoshi demo at my local best buy & was thoroughly underwhelmed.

Because there aren't old historical data for Dengeki.

Looking at archives on Gaf it goes a far as 2009 so nearly 10 years old, how many more would it need?
The lack of more complete data hurts though as I don't think they publish any public data others than their weekly top 50 and some random LTD numbers at times.
