Seems like all of Nintendo subsidiary partners or "2nd parties" have had only "decent" to "good" games on Switch. I was hoping they would follow in Nintendo's path and make the best game in their series, but that hasn't really been the case so far. Xenoblade 2, Mario Tennis Aces, Kirby Star Allies, etc. Hope their second outings can be great and not just fine, OK, or "good but with some flaws".
Monolith was too busy helping with Nintendo's best, but XC2 was pretty good and when they had the time/resources they made the super ambitious XCX on Wii U of all things.

But, yeah.
EPD seems pretty enthusiastic, but the rest haven't really shown up as well

Isn't Xenoblade 2 the most successful game Monolith Soft has ever made?

But Mario Tennis Aces is the best Mario Tennis and Yoshi's Crafted World is great.

*Week 13, 2019 numbers are from Famitsu.

In both 2017 and 2018, the Switch sold less in Q2 than in Q1.
However, year-on-year, Q1 was up in both 2018 and 2019, and Q2 was up in 2018 as well.
So far, every week in 2019 has been up year-on-year.
In 2018, the Switch was down in all weeks of April year-on-year, but up in the entirety of May and June.

The notable releases in Q2 2017 were Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (week 17), Ultra Street Fighters II: The Final Challengers (week 21) and ARMS (week 24).
The notable releases in Q2 2018 were The Snack World: Trejarers Gold (week 15), Nintendo Labo (week 16), Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (week 18), and Minecraft and Mario Tennis Aces (week 25).
The notable releases in Q2 2019 are Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission (week 14), Youkai Watch 4 (week 23), Doraemon's Story of Seasons (week 24), Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu (week 26), and Super Mario Maker 2 (June TBA).

Since Nintendo Labo didn't move many (if any) hardware units, it's fair to say that the software schedule for Q2 2019 is not inferior to Q2 2018's.

Conclusion and expectation
It's safe to say that the Switch hardware sales will see similar behaviour compared to last year. This means a soft drop in April, with 40.000 units as likely bottom line. The drop will hit its bottom in early May, right after the short Golden Week spike. After that, momentum will be gained thanks to announcements and upcoming releases, especially Youkai Watch 4 and Doraemon's Story of Seasons, which target a young demographic that may not have bought a Switch yet. Of course, Super Mario Maker 2 will attract a lot of consumers, too. The June sales will also benefit from the Nintendo Direct at E3.

I wouldn't be surprised if the quarter-on-quarter dip is a bit bigger this year than last year, but that shouldn't prevent Switch to grow year-on-year in Q2. My estimate is total quarter sales will end somewhere between 665.000 and 712.000 units, which would indicate average weekly sales between 51.154 and 54.769 units and a growth of 25%-33% year-on-year.

I'd say that's actually a pretty pessimistic view, considering the June line-up.

Nice work on the numbers!

You are underestimating the impact of Yokai Watch 4 and Super Mario Maker 2 in June. It is possible we see a few 100k+ weeks. There is still an outside shot at having a hardware revision this quarter too.

Adding compatibility to the game that's still tracking over two years since release might give Labo VR a boost.

Still not sure how it'll do in the short term, but probably better than with just the kits

Yeah, I'm sure Mario Tennis Aces and Super Mario Party will prevent Mario Maker 2 from selling 2m LTD.

1) why you don't count u deluxe and others. it's not like mario fans don't have games to play
2) 2m ltd is not exactly "bigger than pokemon". I'm sure let's go will reach that number with digital sales
3) mario maker 2 is not selling 2m

1) why you don't count u deluxe and others. it's not like mario fans don't have games to play
2) 2m ltd is not exactly "bigger than pokemon". I'm sure let's go will reach that number with digital sales
3) mario maker 2 is not selling 2m
Because Mario Maker has more appeal than these other games. Also, can we stop with the imaginary digital sales? If Mario Maker 2 sells more than Let's Go in retail, then it did better unless Nintendo says otherwise. It can clear 2M.

1. Because I'm illustrating how weak your argument is when you say "all these other Mario games." Have you looked at sales of Mario games on past systems? Even NSMBUDX, which is the closest experience to Mario Maker 2 you can get on Switch, doesn't have the same appeal because it lacks the level editor, the entire point of Mario Maker.
2. 2m LTD is the ceiling for Let's Go at this point, so yes it does mean bigger than Pokemon.
3. Yes it will.

Can't belive Switch still sells this much week after week. ~250k away from PS4 LTD. Will overtake PS4 in june/july. Insane how they will manage that with just one Switch modell and no price cut since launch, while the PS4 has had several models and price cuts + more time on the market. I really wonder how far the Switch can grow in Japan. NDS numbers seem impossible?

You are underestimating the impact of Yokai Watch 4 and Super Mario Maker 2 in June. It is possible we see a few 100k+ weeks. There is still an outside shot at having a hardware revision this quarter too.
I forgot to take the potential hardware revision into consideration. Super Mario Maker 2 will generate a boost in hardware sales regardless, but I'm not as sure for Youkai Watch 4. That one will probably be a bit more dependent on its legs, because kids can't buy/get a new system whenever they want it. Those sales will probably be more spread-out over the weeks and jump during holidays.

We're talking a traditional Sony home console vs a Nintendo console that's portable in Japan. It's not exactly shocking.

Yeah ps4 still 250k ahead and tbh I'm surprised it will even hold out for 2 or3 months more.

The Vita is so close to 6m. I wonder will it continue to sell hundreds for the rest of the year or is it goosed.

Makes me wonder if it was a 1 year exclusivity like Bomberman, though only a PC listing and not others sort of makes me doubt that.

gotta hand it to sony. they stuck with the ps4 for a solid five years and were able to hit a pretty walloping eight million units. sales have been pretty steady year over year too so there's still a lot of gas in the tank to keep leading japan's traditional hardware market. with hits like sekiro, devil may cry 5, and kingdom hearts iii, the future's still looking bright. on the other hand, nintendo's sales are falling week-over week, and software is struggling. zoids wild, fitness boxing, and fifa 19 barely chart, and the system has sold a pathetic sub-eight million unit total since launch. one has to wonder where they go from here, but i suspect sega has an answer, judging by their output on playstation systems.
