PS4 wasn't really able to noticeably the baseline even after a huge game like Monster Hunter; this week's numbers are really pitiful---this shows how the product doesn't have mainstream powerstay in Japan and this is due to the product itself rather than line-up or SKUs. Outside Capcom game, software didn't do so hot in late 2017 and early 2018; many games bombed/underperformed: Minna no Golf, Gran Turismo Sports, Dynasty Warriors 9, Ni no Kuni II, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Dissidia NT, Shadow Art Online.

Switch, on the other hand, is maintaining a pretty good baseline, considering stock issues and high price (given the audience and the portable factor). Also, Switch software sales are pretty outstanding. Everything from Nintendo is having legs and selling great (but some ports, which is understandable). Even the few third party games available are finding success on Switch.

Also, Attack on Titan 2 Switch is the new out-of-stock Switch game.

Switch's software drops continue to be much smaller compared to 3DS evergreen titles, especially Splatoon 2 is going to overtake MK7 in three weeks in their respective year two totals. After Golden Week 2012 MK7 dropped below 10K a fate I cannot envision for Splatoon 2, I fully expect it to remain over 15K until July.
Week 16 2012 was the launch of Fire Emblem, after that there is no notable release on the 3DS until DQM. Switch on the other hand should maintain momentum after Labo/Golden Week via DKTF and Dark Souls.

PS4 version is selling because its already hit the bargain bins. Switch version appears sold out and could possibly show legs when it gets restocked.

Kingdom Hearts III is allegedly this year, but none of the remasters sold amazingly, so I'm not really sure how big it will really be.

Monster Hunter having those tiny legs is such a bummer to me. At least they have the West to back it up, but I wouldn't count on them on a long-term strategy.

It had an absolutely amazing debut and is a huge, unqualified success- but it was pretty quickly clear it wasn't showing legs of the portable versions.
