The only thing good about FF12 is the productioj value.

When u have MC worst than a blank slate like Cross, u know u don goof.
My favourite thing about FF12 was the gambit system. I'd really like another JRPG do something similar to that wherein I can get into the nitty-gritty of the characters automatic behaviour, rather than having to hope their AI knows you want to, for example, play the healer for them.

Hey Japanese here and Rainrir's translation is wrong.
In the article, "悲願" and "こだわり" don't have any negative meaning.
Thanks for the confirmation. But I think calling the translation as a whole wrong when it contains a large amount of information is a bit harsh.

I also asked Rainrir to restore his original post because it was valuable to the thread, even if I disagree with some of the word choices.

Translating (especially from a language like Japanese to English which are in many ways polar opposites) is a difficult, time consuming labor, and to immediately be berated by people who don't even speak the language about your choice of words does not leave a very good feeling. And to be accused of bias when you are familiar with the original author's previous writings and you are using that to inform your translation is even worse.
Everyone is biased though and since there was negativity not present in the original, that's where Rainrir's showed. Previous articles should not be necessary to understand the register of a new one either, or people not knowing their previous article would not be able to understand it. So I don't get why this is even important.

No hard feelings, I hope this discussion benefited everyone involved.

In some ways it does, but overall I like how X2 looked better.

Oh yeah art wise 2 is superior. Shame the actual raw graphics are weaker. :( I bet it'd look SO GOOD had they put in the same effort in 2 as they did with X. This also is likely because only a small amout of Monolith actually worked on the game IIRC (something like 40 employees?), with the rest being heavily outsourced.

what was the docked resolution for X2?

A lot of environments and some models like skells looked better in X

The character models, animations, cutscenes were better in X2

I actually didn't really play X much. I watched my brother have the same cutscene around a dinner table(?) 5 times without no unique anmations and it killed it.
I need animations

720p dynamic IIRC. It can drop very heavily during big arts like Pyra's Burning Sword.

Vaan is worst than Lightning lol. And i think that should not be a bad take at all.^_^

And the last good FF for me is 10. 12 started the downfall.
We can never agree with each other it seems. I think 10 is shit. It's FF13-0 and the only redeeming quality is graphic. I don't even like the soundtrack which is very rare in FF series.

Snack world seems to be going to have quite a nice leg huh.

Snack World so far has outperformed both DQB on Amazon.co.jp, it's actually higher right now compared to it's launch day.

DQB Amazon.co.jp Ranking:
Feb 24th(5 days prior to release) - 21st & 53rd
Mar 1st(release date) - 9th & 27th
March 5th(4 days after release) - 11th
March 7th(6 days after release) - 40th
March 9th(8 days after release) - 87th

Snack World Amazon.co.jp Ranking:
Apr 3rd(9 days prior to release) - 59th
April 11th(1 day prior to release) - 14th
April 16th(4 days after release) - 6th

Personally I'm expecting it to overtake both DQB and AOT2 as the second best selling 3rd party game of 2018 by the end of April and to be the second 3rd party game released this year to surpass 100K on the Switch.

This. But undocked it really looks super ugly in places. I can see where they are coming from when optimizing docked for such a game and then downsizing but they were a bit too ambitious in that regard imo.
Well, eh, to be fair, undocked it still looks better than Xenoblade on 3DS, which.... eh.... is the portable competition in the series. Right?! :)

Yup, the behaviour throughout the weekend has been quite strong, at least on Amazon. I also believe that the game doubled its comg preorder numbers compared to its first week sales (but I can't prove that since I lost access to the preorder numbers just before launch). Signs are there for leggy behaviour, but we'll see how it shakes out. The 3x multiplier or bigger should definitely be possible I feel.

Loot is a huge part of the game because your weapons break after a few blow. Shit man this makes too much sense.

But I believe the ultimate BR experience is in Metroid universe. 100 hunters surviving on an alien planet.
Oooh that could easily work too. Instead of being a large open mat, each hunter tries to kill each other in a lagre underground labyrinth filled with secrets and traps

Months ago I made a post about Capcom's F2P mobile efforts and now with CROSSxBEATS closing, I think I'll update it

Puzzle Fighter (Puzzle - 2017)

Monster Pet Shop

Zombie Café

Otomon Drop Monster Hunter Stories

Snoopy Drops

Monster Hunter Explore

Monster Hunter Big Game Hunting Quest

Snoopy Life (Simulation - 2018)
55cf49d74ca3e2fbeaa0479bdf281e1d

Interesting new bits (imo):
- Snoopy Life is the only new full-content mobile game from Capcom in 2018. The Snoopy IP keeps getting new games from them.
- They released demo versions for Monster Hunter Stories and Street Fighter IV worldwide. They keep trying to make their premium games sell as their console catalogue is a big part of their mobile strategy.
- Still only the MonHun games with gacha monetization.
- Puzzle Fighter still has no Japan release. I don't think they have much interest too. Game's results are pretty much meh in every country.
- Nothing yet from the Colopl-Capcom collab. Colopl stock keeps falling since the Nintendo lawsuit, so would be interesting to see if they can come up with a big Monster Hunter game or something.

edit: to be fair, CROSSxBEATS should still be here until June.

It had 15pts before launch, so more than double.
Overall it finished with less points than DQB and more points than AOT2 - personally I think we can expect it to be >30K launch since COMG has tended to over-represent DQB in its rankings. Its also shaping up to have a smaller second week drop compared to both DQB and AOT2 IMO. One further benefit is that it launched after Kirby and right before Splatoon 2 3.0 update, Labo and Golden Week. All these factors should ensure that its legs will be better than both DQB/AOT2 initially and it should overtake both by the end of April.
AOT2 should get the boost this week since it got further supply after the initial shipment was sold out a few weeks ago. It will be interesting if we see DQB also get a boost next week due to the Labo launch, I think DQB/Minecraft potentially share a similar audience to Labo and Snack World/Kirby could be other games that also benefit from younger kids buying a Switch. Overall certain 3rd party titles that launched so far in 2018 will be better judged in a few months after we see if they behave similarly to FIFA/DBX2, both those games started with pretty low sales but eventually crossed 100K on Dengeki/Famitsu.

I hate 12 with passion lol. Not only the character is shit, the battle system is also lame. I am quite surprised that u hate FF10 though lol.

2 indeed is winning for me right now however that is mostly tx to the battle system while X world and quest package came really close to 2 right now.

Somewhere. I think.
32./36. [NSW] FIFA 18 (Electronic Arts) {2017.09.29} - 1,533 / 119,232

I said damn.

Two months to go until the FIFA World Cup. Have EA or Konami announced any World Cup games yet?

Unless I don't remember correctly, only EA has the World Cup licence, and no, they haven't announced any game. The previous WC game was only released on PS3 and X360 too (that was in 2014), so no surprise they're skipping it this time.

I'm gonna wait until the release of numbers before believing Famitsu won't track Labo lol

Yeah, not sure why it's been widely accepted as fact when they haven't said anything on the matter.

You guys think VC1 has a chance to come stateside to Switch?

Considering the game has already been fully localised, there really isn't any reason for SEGA to skip western release. Now, the early purchase offer... that's a different beast ;)

Only one store but I assumed the weekend would be stronger due to the focus on children. Maybe the launch is decent

I mean their Samurai Blue Challenge games. The last one came out in 2014. In 2016 Konami had the license for the UEFA Euro 2016 and released a game in Japan. And last year they dropped a "Konami the Best" re-release of WE2017. I wonder what their plans are for 2018.
I like EA's plans, those WC games never sold that well anyway.

I think Snack World Gold will surprise people, it won't reach the 3DS version LTD but it's releasing right after kids are done with Kirby Star Allies and might use that as one of the first few more "families-friendly" games.

I think Snack World will do 40k and over perform. Les may be good too since it has Golden week coming up and Labo bringing in some kids launch week.

Labo doing over 120k would be good.

So there was actually a little bit of shake-up in Japanese mobile this month.

First up, NetEase's Battle Royale game is now a top 10 performer in Japan.

BanG Dream also managed to overtake IDOLM@STER in the rhythm genre, while Monster Strike managed to regain its crown from Fate/Grand Order.

japanmarch9fuoc.png

Over on the publisher side, Bandai Namco managed to maintain their #1 position in Japan this month. I believe that's the first time this has ever happened.
