July has been the usual timeframe for Sumikko Gurashi games on 3DS, I'm more surprised that it's a different game / franchise. Nice that the price is low, it should help selling to its target audience i.e. families and young kids.
I wonder if Sumikko Gurashi games will be released during Holidays from now on.

And yes, they're usually long sellers...but freAKING JULY 26TH AGAIN?!?

Haha. Nippon Colombia need to hit that date release quota.

I am thinking what product they can release other than Sumikko too there.

The first two games on 3DS were released in November, but they then moved the series to Summer releases. I don't know whether release timing has mattered a lot for these games, but releasing a second Sumikko Gurashi game on NSW only a half year after the first one seems like a bad idea to me, so I think they're making the right choice with this one. I wonder if it can make some sales. Their non-SG games have had varying success.

WOW, the difference for Naruto on Switch vs PS4:

12./00. [NSW] Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy for Nintendo Switch (Bandai Namco Games) {2018.04.26} - 8,231 / NEW
14./00. [PS4] Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy (Bandai Namco Games) {2017.07.27} - 4,711 / NEW

Almost doubled, wow. O_o

The PS4 base for these games comes almost directly from the PS3....

Maybe off topic, but since this is the Japan focussed thread.

Is there any number on the ammount of Japanese Subscribers for PS+ ?
If so, anybody have some guesses on how many Subscribers NSO will have once this FY ends ?

Musou Orochi 3 ps4/switch 2018

170 characters, the most number in the series. In addition to participating in new characters, "God art action" is implemented as a new attack method, and power up is done everywhere.

In addition to three completely new scenarios, the game also features 10 scenarios from the smartphone app and the series' staple "mystery case" for a total of 14 scenarios. Development is currently 70 percent complete

Another week, another mid tier franchise missing the Swit....err... nevermind.

Seriously though, aside from Koei Tecmo, Arc System Works has clearly shifted 90% of their internal production to include Switch versions. Their current support is basically what they used to / release on Sony systems + their smaller, digital only titles that were 3DS-bound.

Is the baseball game better than mega baseball 2
I don't know. SMB2 looks very good and has the language advantage. If you're interested, you can look up gameplay of JPPY 2016 on YouTube. (Btw, there will also be a baseball game coming to Switch this Summer: Pro Yakyuu Famista Evolution).

I hope you haven't thrown away your pretend concern, there is ONE game that was announced today but not for Switch :P

Bullet Girls Phantasia
I doubt that's worth the bother tbh.

Not sure what you mean by that.
That not many people bought it on PS3, or that many bought it on PS3 and didn't want to buy it again?

What does it mean for all the remasters that are selling more now than the original on PS3/WiiU/etc?

The 100k or so that bought UNS 1-3 are pretty much the same that bought UNS4 on PS4. The PS4 base is more likely to have played these games, including the newer UNS4.

Which remasters in Japan? WiiU was a dead platform unlike the SW.

This argument can go both ways.

There's a big Naruto fanbase on PS4 -> more likely to find people that want do double dip
or
-> few people that want to buy the game because already played elsewhere.

With so small numbers it's difficult to say something meaningful.

Just saw the PR for Waku Waku Doubutsu Land, and it looks like it will support English, Korean, and Chinese. Wasn't expecting that from Nippon Columbia, tbh.

I hope Nippon Colombia will start doing this for all its future game too as their game is soo cute and i can see it resonate with female demographic in the west.

Unless Pokemon comes out in November Nintendo will be at first place as a publisher the remaining months of this year. So far 2018 Switch is on target to beat 2012 3DS software.

if pokemon is this year then which numbers do you think it will fare?Similar to older games or more?
It will all depend on hardware supply.

As for lifetime sales, I expect it to reach XY levels or higher. I still think it won't be a new generation but rather a throwback to Kanto. The mix of nostalgia, HD graphics, handheld release, home console release (the Switch is both after all), and the multimedia approach - they threw back to the 'early days' with the latest movie as well, and if that's indeed what they're planning, the anime will probably follow -, I think the higher price point for the Switch (and later on perhaps a bundle) will make it sell gangbusters.

The ceiling of the 3DS games seems to be little above 16 million copies, as that's what both XY (16.29M) and SM (16.10M) sold. I expect similar results on the Switch, but if they nail all aspects mentioned above, I can see it grow to 18M or even 20M - that's lifetime sales of course.

I guess that tomorrow will be the only good numbers before a while, at least until Mario Tennis Aces release. Looking forward to it !

Dark Souls will do well on PS4 too.

A new Pokémon generation:
- New Pokémon
- New region
- New Starters
- etc. etc.
Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, Black/White, X/Y, Sun/Moon.
So a mainline Pokémon game that's not a remake or an expansion/sequel like Pokémon yellow, B&W2, and Ultra S&M.
Can't imagine they'll make a 5th S&M game, so the next one will likely be either a remake or a new gen

That's right. A new generation of Pokémon introduces a new region and monsters.

I personally think they'll go back to Kanto for their first HD and mainline console game.

The reason "what defines a new generation" has become a joke in the first place is that Serebii keeps repeating a comment to this effect, presumably because he believes Pokemon Switch could be something that redefines what a new generation has meant up to this point (or otherwise falls outside of the new generation, third version, and remake archetype in some way, as those are pretty clearly defined right now). In other words, it could be a "new generation," but very different from how Pokemon Sun and Moon, X and Y, Black and White, etc. were a new generation.

He's in a position to know more than the average person, and a lot of his comments recently have been very conspicuous. You're free to believe whatever you'd like though.

This would work if the new game was a big departure using brand new Pokémon character models, but I think the general consensus is that they'll just use the 3DS models.
Unless there's a big gameplay departure like action rpg combat, i don't think a red and blue remake are necessary
The pokemon character models are fine 10k-30k character models will last a long-ass time.

If it has new Pokémon and a new region it's a new generation. If it doesn't it's either a spin off or a remake. Don't see a in between happening myself.

If Pokemon Switch comes out this year (or in early 2019), it's going to be an unprecedented situation no matter what, so I think structurally different games are definitely on the table. But if you think the games are going to be late 2019, then a typical new generation is most likely. A late 2019 release is starting to seem less and less likely though.
