I'm incredibly impressed and happy with all of those switch software numbers. Incredible actually. Those Wii U era numbers were disgusting, and sad. However, we wouldn't have the switch without those!

So now that Captain toad finally opened preorders, can somebody tell me what launch numbers were for it on WiiU ?

About the discussion on Directs and the recent announcements.
Does Nintendo have to announce all the games on their platform in a Direct ?
I admit that its a nice format, but i dont think its the only one that is viable.

Absolutely not. Two very recent examples are Go Vacation and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (XX in Japan) announced without a direct.

Captain Toad doesn't seem to have much promotion. so if it charts above the Wii U version, I dont think it will be that much higher

A lot of first-party Switch games don't seem to ramp up their marketing until they're a month out from release. Promotion for Captain Toad will probably pick up a fair bit next month.

For the 1st day? I agree that if it was the total first week's sell-through that would be mediocre at best, but 50% sell-through on the first day is impressive I'd say.

No 50% for this type of game is 'whatever' mediocrity. These sorts of releases are very front-loaded so first-day is important for them.

How are they combining predictions for the Persona Dancing ? Because I assume the 80k for All-Star Triple Pack includes more than just the limited SKU with the three games.

Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, you think that the first day, a Thursday, is going to have nearly 100% of the total sales for this week's sales? You don't think that an additional combined 20 or 25% sell-through could be accomplished on Friday and Saturday?

As far as the user feedback I've seen, pretty much every 1 star review on Amazon is people angry that it wasn't released on the Vita. It's amusing.

It's a Thursday release? I thought it was Saturday. For a Thursday release 50% is good enough.

You guys need to realize if the original version's reception is that bad there won't be a PS4 remake in the first place.

The thing is that the technical aspect was really the only bad thing about it, story and characters are actually great, and that's why a PS4 remake made sense in the first place if they felt they could bank on the actual content of the game.

I dunno. I think non-westerners don't care about performance as much as westerners do.

So....Cloud gaming huh?

Mostly just Capcom having no actual dev resources/capabilities with the Switch yet, since, you know, that takes time and they wrote this off hard early on.

This is just a sort of end result of that when you want to also try to sell your behind-expectations product to a new audience.

So I guess this is Capcom's way of getting games on Switch.
It's interesting, I guess? Don't think it'll sell too well, tho.
Might be interesting if they get MH on there that way.

Would've been nice if they put the effort to make these native releases

I'm surprised RE7 Cloud wasn't announced on mobile too, though. SE had their games streaming on mobile since long ago.

Welp- guess we have our answer for how willing Capcom is to devote serious resources to Switch!

Capcom announced a cloud version of RE7 for Switch. 2000 yen for a 180 day rental.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/resident-evil-7-cloud-version-announced-for-switch.43805/

As a huge fan of RE7, an actual physical port of the game to Switch would've been a day 1 buy. I won't even consider this version (if it even gets brought over).

That's wild. So Capcom has either 0 resources or 0 faith this would perform well if they did a true port.

Honestly, this may not turn out bad for them though. For that price if it streams well I imagine people would be alright with an extended rental.

Considering their failure in supporting MHW, I'd say they have no resources. That was a success and they let that completely fade into obscurity with anemic content roll out and zero long term planning/promises.

We still haven't seen the PC version of MHW, I will remind you.

Mostly just Capcom having no actual dev resources/capabilities with the Switch yet, since, you know, that takes time and they wrote this off hard early on.

This is just a sort of end result of that when you want to also try to sell your behind-expectations product to a new audience.
System's been out for over a year. Unless they're mentally handicapped slugs that are also blind, they should have shifted by now with resources

Well this sucks. I'm was foolishly confident that Capcom would port REVII (not this way) to Switch.

I actually have no way of playing it this way, not that I would if I could.

Maybe the RE7 engine has a fundamental problem running on switch? I'm trying to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt.

I mean, it's a corridor game with two enemies on screen at max with little to no physics or AI.

I... I don't know.

This is easily Capcom's least demanding AAA game so I doubt they'll be putting any support forward for Switch if they can't even be bothered to actually port RE7.

Nintendo: what do you think of the NX?
Capcom: hmm, we're making a new engine, needs 4GB to support it
N: done!

...

N: so, how about that new engine on switch?
C: lol

I mean. We already kinda know that Cac put all its eggs on MHW basket and hope that they will be able to expand with that money.

It is no wonder they had little to almost zero game for Switch there. Making Cloud version is easily the cheapest way to still get some of that Switch owner money lol.
