Stories on Switch would sell more just by virtue of not being on mobile
Stories on Switch would sell more just by virtue of not being on mobile
Stories is appealing enough on it's own that I'm not sure about that. It's a port people have been asking for too, MPFF was a game almost no one wanted.A port of Stories without confirmation of a new MH for Switch will get just about the same reception as MP Federation Force did.
I could see P3rd HD as a base building lead-in to Switch's Gen 5 game, particularly if it revives the Portable sibling brand. Sort of like how Wii got G right before 3/Tri.
Then again XX/GU sort of already did the same thing so maybe there's not much point. Enhanced ports of Stories 1.3 or Nikki DX might be more worthwhile in a way.
I could also see a different classic port like 2nd G HD. While 3rd was the best selling MH, 2nd G is still seen as the height by many fans. Also 3rd is sort of supplanted content wise by 3G.Well what is XX at? 350k with the discount version?
That's probably what I would hope for with a 3rd HD ver port. If we are talking base building I'd say that would be a better path to go down than updating a game that sold not much more than that on it's first go. It'd probably end up more like Snack World.
But if its about bringing in a different demographic I'd agree. Nikki would probably do gangbusters too.

Well I think part of the reasoning for 2nd G or 3rd specifically would be in resurrecting the Portable brand if they're also using it for the Gen 5 Switch game. I can see the merits in 3G or even 4G but they don't check that box.Well in that case you already have 3G HD waiting in the wings. Maybe it could follow the trend of other Wii U ports. It all falls in line with Capcom's plan for this fiscal year.

Loo I see, thanks for this
Now hold on there partner. Nobody of worth actually wants DmC over the original, its just adding anything else with it would be a much stronger dealI get betting on legacy titles, but porting those games when Generations is already on Switch isn't going to move the kind of numbers they want. they should be porting experiences they can't already get on teh switch, like MHStories, or the DMCs people actually want, like DMC4, DmC, or the entire trilogy
if we're talking a single game basis, I'll choose DmC over DMC1 every time. I value good art directionNow hold on there partner. Nobody of worth actually wants DmC over the original, its just adding anything else with it would be a much stronger deal
Honeymoon period between Capcom and Switch has ended if they don't try a bit.
Yes but even without a revision, things should get more interesting in June.We could still have a Switch revision bump to look forward to this summer, maybe? (hopefully?)

It is basically the calm before the storm
A reminder that Level 5 comcept is a thing, Keiji Inafune is still alive (yes, yes!), and he's working on a game called Dragon Colonies. Pre-registration now live for a Summer release.
inb4 the L5 Mobile Curse delays this one into oblivion.

the closest you'll get to that is a Switch port. but there are more fun ways to waste your moneyB-b-but what about the handheld versions of Mighty n°9 ? (they last talked about it not being dead right after Level 5 bought Comcept)
Realism, of course. What else?the closest you'll get to that is a Switch port. but there are more fun ways to waste your money
also, why does every pair of breasts jiggle in that trailer?

Would make for a pretty killer summer, but yeah. Even without it things should get heated up.
The Yokai watch delay means it'll take awhile longer for things to get going, tho
2019 will see another drop for Switch Capcom sales in Japan, 2nd year in row.
2017>2018>2019.
If something like Resident Evil 5 gets released things will improve a bit but so far without important titles sales are even more anemic than 2018. West had Monster Hunter last year, 2018>2019 is given here.

They used to. Probably stopped because it was looking silly now with almost all revenue being PS4.It's a shame Capcom don't provide a platform breakdown of their revenue, like Ubisoft does. That sure would be amusing.

When did they say they're Japan first
Sorry, I posted in the wrong thread. When did they say they're Japan first
Most of their sales come from the US.
Yeah, but that's a name, not their business model. lol

Didn't they basically say "no comment" rather than "yes, it's still alive"?.
The notice of Comcept being bought by Level 5 was the 15th June 2017
The KS page was updated the 15 June 2017 with the screenshoted comments (link is there but it's only available for backers to see)
Considering what is said and the timeline, Comcept probably thought Level 5 were giving them free money to finish their mess but in the end Level 5 backed out really quickly for some reason (like not swimming in Youkai Watch money anymore).
I of course don't expect anything from it anymore, nor do I wish it in the first place, but I at least want to laugh and enjoy this mess as much as I can considering how much money I put into that.
If current boom doesn't slow down Mario Maker 2 is heading for a very big opening.
What would constitute as a very big opening ? 500-600k?If current boom doesn't slow down Mario Maker 2 is heading for a very big opening.
I wonder if SMM2 could potentially get back to NSMB heyday global numbers. Not 30M+ but maybe somewhere about 20M?
I guess the requirement for NSO will probably hamper its potential quite a bit?
100% unrealistic, even huge selling Mario games are not frontloaded.Probably unrealistic, but I hope SMM2 has the biggest FW on Switch in 2019. It really feels like they took the Wii U game's winning concept and made it into the ultimate 2D Mario game.
Why do you say that? Create, Share and Play games seem to have huge appeal these days. That's absolutely impossible. SMM2's ceiling is 10 million. It's a concept that has inherently limited appeal compared to a true, new traditional 2D Mario game.
