Not really, week 18 was Golden Week, and week 19 is possibly the slowest week of the year.

In my opinion, I think Famitsu considered both weeks to be the same "extended week". Hence, dividing by 2 is my way of solving this.

I mean, we got like 52k and 21k from Dengeki for golden week. the best guess assuming famitsu was similar is around 31k this week for switch and 9k PS4.

Switch outsold PS4 at its 272th week. It took 114 weeks for Switch, it launched at PS4 158th week.

Oh, than in that case it actually puts things in more perspective for me, as i never really thought about it, obviously if the switch sells 40k one week and another 40k the next week thts 80k. Just dawned on me how much that adds up and the switch has been doing 40-80k since this year began

Day's Gone doing close-ish to 200k (still some 40k away of course) in Japan isn't half bad. Honestly didn't feel like the sort of game that'd have a market in Japan.

PS4 is very much on a free fall at this point, doubt it'll even reach 9M. Meanwhile Switch keeps on selling like hotcakes AND with a very positive software life too. Wonder if it can break the 20M mark? 15M seems like an easy "target" per say, given it's already racing to 9M with 2 years (give or a take a couple of months) in the market. I'd be pretty cool if it did!

2019 is going to be the best year for Switch and was until now impressively up YoY on Japan, that is, until 2 weeks ago. I still find it odd that it's even slighlty down YoY this week (and the previous week).

We don't know how Switch sold this week but it is safe to assume it didn't drop wrt last week which is still a good sign. Keep in mind Switch will have a far greater lineup during June and July wrt 2018.

Yeah, it came up a few times during Days Gone debut week I remember. Did a quick Ctrl+F through my own post history to grab this one, and then the post right after that agrees, saying Sony's strategy was "spot on" this gen. The post directly refers to games developed in Japan.

Huh, ok. While not officially a Sony game, I believe Sony spent easily an AAA marketing budget (plus possibly more for Japanese exclusivity) on MHW, a Japanese developed game, so imo saying Sony abandoned Japanese developed AAA games is simply incorrect.

Taiko Drum 'n' Fun has sold over 600k

With those kind of worldwide numbers they should really disregard Japan and focus on making higher budget Taiko games on the PS4/PC(+ possibly XBO).
