It's more likely that the Switch version releases in Japan after the PS4 version has released in the west, especially when Nintendo is even willing to publish late ports for Square Enix.

You know, to just mix things up once and a while you could occasionally not post the worst case possible scenario for everything related to Switch.

3DS remakes mean nothing in the west, as sad as that is to say. We are a benighted civilization. (:( but also :P)

Any chance Nintendo has a deal with SE for DQXI to be Switch exclusive in the West?
I find it odd they confirmed localization but didn't mention a single platform and that was months ago too

tenor.gif

SE and Sony did not go through the release of 4 DQ games and develop a PS4 specific DQ11 just to not have it available for the 65+ million PS4 base outside Japan.

Worst case scenario is it not existing/being cancelled.

Similar to how Nintendo having to publish the $60 port of TWEWY is better than that not existing too.

Nintendo's involvement is Switch version won't be a late release at west.
Yeah, this is what I think is happening. We would've seen the English version already if it was Ps4 first or SE didn't care to release the switch version at the same time.
Not sure if it'll be WW release once the Switch version is done in Japan, but likely a western release on PS4 and switch at the same time

The longer we go on, not knowing about the Switch version, the more this seems likely.
The longer we go on without news about a localization, the more it seems it'll be announced in a somewhat big way in a direct. News was expected in the fall, and I can't imagine a PS4 localization delaying it. Something happened.

And let's not forget DQ Builders is being pushed by Nintendo specifically in the west. Too much smoke.

DQXI will release simultaneously for PS4 and Switch in the west. Maybe even 3DS if Nintendo wants to foot the bill for that one.

My thought was when they didn't mention any platforms, that was cause were planning the Switch version to be a worldwide release simultaneous with a PS4 version in the West, with the possibility of the 3DS version not coming here at all. My only issue is we haven't seen a lick of footage of DQXI Switch. Then again, we haven't seen a lick of footage of a western version of DQXI either

There's a reason why they were very adamant of not confirming any platform. However, I would give 95% chance of the PS4 coming over.

You can say the same thing about the Western release.

The game is reliably rumoured to appear in next month ND so we'll know pretty soon.
still think that has to do with that Ambition of Slimes game. of course, that wouldnt make sense as that's already revealed

If that was happening we'd already know about it by now.
it could still happen, as SE is really tight lipped about the Switch version. the only reason we know what we do is because the leads on the Armor Project side gives no fucks

Yeah if it was only coming to PS4 in the west at first I see little reason for why we haven't got any news yet. Still expecting Switch and PS4 at the same time in the west.

To be fair the localization of DQ XI has been slow in general.

Asian ver of the game was slated for Winter 2018 with Sony publishing the game, but it's no where to be seen.

well, it's not just DQ11. SE is late with KH3 news as well
Can't believe they're adding a late KH3 Switch port!

Joke aside I think they even said we'd get more news by the end of November or something? Weird to miss that deadline by over a month and a half.

Was the clock reset when I wasn't looking? I didn't know we were expecting a Direct next month and Dragon Quest XI in it.

There's an era user called Chrom that has got two big leaks right last few weeks:

1) No Fire Emblem in 11th direct
2) 18th announcement would not be a direct but just a trailer reveal (think it was worded something like that)

He now says that we'll have a direct in February featuring Fire Emblem, "a green dinosaur and a green slime" or such.

Plans change. I do think it's fishy that the promised localization news never happened last year, Nintendo securing a regional exclusive isn't really an impossibility. I just think it's pretty unlikely.

Rehosted by accident apparently and immediately took down. A localization announcement that also promised more news by the end of 2017 that never came.
I know, but they wouldn't have done it, even if accidentally, if they were aware of such a deal. Either way speculating about it won't help. It definitely is weird tho that we haven't heard anything.

Was Sony involved? Besides PhyreEngine being used for Builders I don't think there was any involvement, it was an effort fully by Square Enix.

Sony wasn't involved in DQ11 nor in any marketing deal for the spin-offs in the west no. It's not like Nintendo and DQ.

Revealed? It released a week ago in America and Europe, and a month ago in Japan. There's zero chance this title would be at a Feb Direct.

It's obvious what game Chrom meant.

They're even tighter lipped about the western release. As in no one's talking about it at all and it's missed promised information milestones.

Prediction - DQXI releases in the fall in West simultaneously on Switch and PS4, no 3DS, a month before the Switch port releases in Japan. It'll be like they're doing with DQ builders.

The difference is that Builders is a spinoff.
I can't see S-E releasing XI Switch in Japan after a western release (unless it's like 2-3 days).

When Switch version is ready for western release there is no way it won't be ready for Japanese too. Japan goes first is what likely happens.

Dragon Quest Builders appeared on Comgnet at 10pts more than 5 weeks before release. That game might surprise those who said that it would be lucky to reach 100k LTD.

Bayonetta Climax Edition is 2 pts up at 14pts. Another Switch game that is going to outsell the WiiU version.

Kirby is the other Switch game charting and is climbing slowly, it is at 13pts now.

I think DQB is going to be a surprise hit on the Switch. It's never been on a successful handheld until now, and it's not competing with Minecraft at retail just yet. I can see it selling a significant chunk of the PS4 version's lifetime sales, maybe even more.

Plus the game is priced nicely(~4k) with a lovely demo. That makes it an attractive buy.

And I believe his teases for the February Direct were "green dinosaur" and "an RPG with slimes." Which, technically, could even be Dark Souls!

But DQXI seems like the obvious candidate.

It would also explain why DQXI localization had 0 news this fall despite them planning to do that, and for the fact that we still don't know when they'll talk about it. They're probably tied to a Direct that didn't happen last fall.

So does hope for a late Asia PC port still exist? I remember Duckroll arguing that it could still happen despite the way it looks. Do people still think that?
