It seems to me games that are both on PS4 and the Switch, sell usually better on the PS4. But the gap is not as big.
Will be curious to see what Nintendo's Q2 lineup.
Still guessing that Fire Emblem gets delayed again to make the graphics Switch quality and to fix the framerate. But Fire Emblem is the only game scheduled for Q2 right now.

At this rate, since no shipment arrived yet, sales for week 2 will drop like a rock.

Yep. It's still so weird to me that Switch's hardware is doing amazingly in Japan, but so much surrounding it's software, from both what is released to how the releases are handled, makes me go "what??"
Tales fans must own a PS4 because if they want to play new entries. Hence the result is not surprising at all.
Wonder if there's going to be a higher baseline this year. Last year was pretty static.Let's Go fell off a cliff as expected, by March it won't even chart probably.

PS4 cratered. Switch fell too...and landed on a mountain of pillows. Nintendo officially owns Japan.
Its a case by case basis. Plenty of examples both ways. There is a pretty high profile example in the charts right now where Switch version is doing better.
Maybe derailing slightly, but i've seen next to nothing on Fitness Boxing and did wonder if it was a good fitness game. Has any of the game sites reported on it?

Ah, Bamco... they did well with their H2 2018 releases and shipped enough copies for each game, but they had to go back to their old habits for this one, huh... Though I'd be surprised if there really wasn't new shipments this week, I doubt their expectations were THAT low (it's not like the game set the charts on fire or anything).

This is price with tax for Wii U. It was ¥5.700 without tax which was 5% then comparing to 8% today.
... is it fun? I'm getting a bit curious about this game now as time goes on.
Not seen anything yet but from my own experience with the game I can definitely say that its a genuinely good excersize and fun to play/unlock stuff. Thats why I thought this game might be a hit a few weeks ago when I bought it. There were literally no commercials or whatever where I live so it had to come from word of mouth.

Retailers were surprised with Vesperia performance on Switch, it's not entirely BN's fault there were supply problems at first week. We still talk for Tales that usually goes for 90% drop at second week, overstocking isn't an option for them.
Will there be a new shipment by the time KH3 releases? I guess around that time ToV on Switch could see a bump as KH3 won't be coming out on Switch.
All of that will probably happen off the charts though, at least MC and Famitsu.
With Abyss performance on 3DS surely a ~40k shipment wouldn't have been that outrageous, guess they collectively went on the conservative estimate so that's on them, too bad.
So what do we think the Switch base line will be for this quarter?
Seen some people mentioning 60k. That would be an impressive increase off the back of the holiday titles.
It was so steady at 40k all last year that it's almost hard to believe it will change, hope it does though. Looking forward to seeing where it settles after the NSMB bump (however small that bump may be).

As said before the PS4 drop is expected. There is no reason for anyone who want a PS4 to buy it this week instead the previous one, when it cost less and had 2 games as offer.
IF Sony does not cut the price the baseline will be 20k <

It's a better week than expected for Switch, but maybe media create is correcting its switch numbers, so Let's see how this turns out.
Last year also had Famitsu at 6k lower than MC,so unless the difference is stark (well above 10k),I don't think it will change the situation noticeably.
If ps4 stays under 20k and switch stays above 70k, the switch will pass ps4 LTD and reach 8M LTD by the start of next fiscal year.
Obviously this will not happen.

Thanks, seems like the range where Fitness Boxing might land into.
Based on the PS4 version selling more than 50% more than the Switch version in its first week. The Switch version would have to have some insane legs to come out on top.
PS4 YoY comparison will get rough very quickly. I don't see RE2 and KH3 providing near the same bump that MHW did.
Switch I'm thinking will continue to be up YoY but not by the huge amounts it has been the first 2 weeks.
Yup. Although, it is also pretty apparent that PS4 is kind of hitting a ceiling in Japan. I am always surprised at the shock people get when PS4 numbers are so low. It is about to be in it's 6th year on the market in Japan so it's obvious that it's selling potential is what it is. No mega hit will really change that at this point. PS4 will continue to sell modestly until the PS5 releases and I think we can expect a downward trend with that too since Japan has been moving away from traditional console gaming.
Wouldn't be all that shocking. Look at Xenoverse 2 for one example off the top of my head.
