NSMB for holidays means next new 2d Mario will take some time until it comes out and Mario Maker could be the focus for next 1-2 years. It is franchise that has potential for big growth.

Additional content for a potential NSMBU+Luigi would be ideal and a welcome bonus but similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I don't think it will substantially affect sales. These games sell well for their quality and general popularity for Mario Kart and 2D Mario games, only held back by a small WiiU userbase. A rerelease on Switch will revitalize sales of NSMBU.

pretty sure miyamoto and tezuka(nsmb producer) said they were moving on years ago. 2018 seems to be filled, so might as well just drop a quick port and save that shit for 2019.

Aces gameplay looks good from the recent previews

I was about to wonder if it could have the highest meta of the Tennis games, but Tennis on 64 got a 91 lol. So yeah, not gonna happen

Heck, the 80 by Mario Power Tennis might not be guaranteed. Cause I think content will be light at launch still.
I'll go with 83 though

I'd buy NSMBU if they added something cool. Or changed the graphics.
To be honest, I'd hate to see 2D Mario revert to sprites, I thought Shake It looked kinda awkward. I say the same for Donkey Kong, Kirby and Smash Bros.

So, Nintendo will be dumb enough to put the New series before Super Mario Maker on Switch. Not even to dare to create a new kind of 2d platformers.

Nintendo still thinks that after four and half games with the same artstyle, same platforming approach and (urgh!) extremely similar OST's they will reach at the Wii levels?
I don't care if it's a port at all, if Nintendo wants to bring the whole library of Wii U exclusive games to the Switch, they can do that. Fatal Frame, XenoX, TW101, NintendoLand, Mario Party 10, Zelda ports, all them would be nice for the Switch.

I Just don't bear any "New Super Mario Bros" series anymore. I just expect that Nintendo understands that and start to wonder how they could do for revitalize the 2D mario franchise. But I know that I can't expect too much change or originality over a 50M+ franchise.
I doubt a NSMB U port will do that much. The series went from two 30M+ seller to a 12M and a 5M+ games. Not bad at all, but I don't think people really are clamoring for more New games and a revitalized 2D series would do better. They should leave the new style for Mario Maker.
Both of your thinking is very much like UltraMagnus in his faulty attempt at making an argument that Nintendo should stop making one set of games in favor of another that already has sufficient presentation. I suggest that type of thinking should go away.

It's been six years since the last NSMB game, we can have at least one more for the Switch. I have not seen a single NSMB hater criticize the controls or level design, strangely enough. I personally rank NSMBU to be greater than SMB1-3 + SML1-2 and equal to Mario World as the greatest 2D Mario in terms of controls and level design, the two essential features of a good platform game.

Please stop comparing NSMBU and MK8.
Yeah. MK8 is considered the best Mario Kart game by far, NSMB U never had this much love from fans or the media. It's also a single player game that has several similar games available.

Can you please not use "hater"? I bought these games and I'm discussing sales potential, not quality. If you want to discuss quality, sure. I don't think they're bad games, but they lack in verticality and levels are more simple and lacking in secrets than SMW - a SNES game. The presentation, aesthetics, music are all part of the series too and they're all very lacking in comparison to other EPD games.

There's so much you can do with always the same setting (Mushroom Kingdom) and reusing the same elemental world concept. I think they should move on from this.

Paris

25 musics in each base game, there's already 20 music dlc scheduled until late June and more to come afterwards likely.
While there are certainly high production values on the music clips, the content is just ridiculous for a music game there.

And like P4D amongst the 25 base musics there are multiple remixes of of the same song as well, there's no way I'm gonna buy that at full price anyway the content delivered for the price asked is just not enough, you can look at the OT of the games to see that even for fans the complaints are there.

Top 10

PS4 - 6
NSW - 3
PSV - 1

"Many new games were released for the first time in a long time, and topped the rankings.
While being a remaster, PS4 Dark Souls Remastered took the 1st place. In addition to existing fans, customers who started the series from Dark Soul 3 are also purchasing. Although the genre of the 2nd place PS4 Detroit: Become Human is adventure, it is a work that attracts high-level graphics like live-action and has performed beyond sales expectation. PS4/PSV Persona Dancing ranked in 3rd, 6th and 7th place, GEO Limited Edition with Steel Book is highly appreciated."

NSMBU is multiplayer. Even asymmetric multiplayer.

I figured if they ever did a port they'd add other games (NSM All-Stars?) or online play but after DKCTF I'm just expecting NSMBU+NSLU and that's it.

I just said it in the news thread, but I doubt KT would announce one that soon, it's Team Ninja, not Gust or Omega Force.

MHW is 40% off on Amazon.

Not sure how long it's been like that, haven't checked in a long time. I also don't know how it compares to 3DS games launch aligned.

Anyway, looks like MHW is dying off for real. I wonder what's next.

Probably MHW GOTY edition with some DLC and a big expansion announced around TGS/PSX for PS4 (and other platforms, but we're talking about japan here). Doubt much will change there.
And probably some MH game already teased for Switch at the same time.

2D Mario will do well regardless.
WiiU was a bomb, you cant really take this to gauge the interest for the biggest Nintendo franchises when even MK8 was held back on the system.

Also it wont be a straight up port...if they add a couple levels and a new interesting flip a NSMB Switch will sell great this gen. Switch + Lucal Coop + 2D Mario...its a no-brainer.
Nintendo should pull a Sega and flip the screen

Playing Mario from right to left ls a whole new game

A NSMBU port, as is, seems misguided.
Maybe including some NSMB2 content, new characters, and the entirety of Super Mario Run might make it worthwhile.
Super Mario Run is quite good, more playable characters than the last game. Didn't sell a ton so maybe people would be more willing to buy it on Switch.
Really seems like it should just be ported with Mario Maker instead

Honestly, give me New Super Mario Bros. HD. A remake of the DS original retaining the colors and art-style. It always felt the best of the New series and the look felt most like a 2D Mario 64. Hell it used Mario 64 voice clips and music like the Wing Cap theme for the invincibility theme. Keep all of that in an HD version.

Even better if they brought over the mini-games as well.

Eh, Nioh isn't that far from Bloodborne's sales in Japan, and it sold nearly 3 times more than the best selling Ninja Gaiden there as well.
I wouldn't say Japan wasn't interested.

Is the split much difference than, say, the split of Dark Souls 3 between Japan and the west? You might disagree whether the actual game plays much like Souls or is a different thing altogether, but they definitely marketed it similarly and both titles share similar key elements. With the Souls games being more popular overseas, I don't see how it's surprising at all that the same is true for Nioh.

They are very similar, yes. The difference is 300k for DS in Japan is decent. Any game that can sell 300k in Japan is a big game. Nioh sold around 100k. The absolute number is so low, even for Japan. Usually the smaller the game is, the greater the split favors Japan.
