They have 5 games way bigger than Fire Emblem this year after e3. Why would they choose Fire Emblem?

Also, if it launches in July with Fire Emblem, the announcement that would happen the end of June or beginning of July would kill any hardware momentum generated by Mario Maker 2 launch. That's a bad strategy.
That's why some of us think that YW4 was pushed back a few weeks, because the announcement might happen around the original release in early June.
If it's ready to go in July they might as well release it with their biggest title of the summer a few weeks earlier.
Only Adventure for Dreamcast sold more than 400K and that was a launch game. Second best selling is the Advance one with like 200k. It was never a big franchise, but yeah had a big downfall.Sonic used to sell pretty decently in Japan during the late 90s/early 2000s. I remember SA1 hitting 500k or something. But ever since the PS3 era , I dont think any title has even sold like 50k lifetime. Wouldn't be surprised if Team Sonic Racing isn't even in the Top 30.

Didn't people say they use Arle more than Sonic as a mascot in Japan or something? Can't confirm it myself.Yea it used to sell 100k on Average. Now its like 10k , thats a pretty big drop. Especially since he is the mascot of a big publisher like Sega.

Their big face in the console space is Yakuza tho.
With how awful Capcom's ports have been in terms of pricing, gimped physical releases (in the West especially) or no physical releases at all, Dragons Dogma really stands out by being fairly priced and available physically in the West at a reasonable price. I wonder how DD managed to avoid the Capcom pitfalls when all the other releases seem to follow a pretty obvious half-hearted pattern from them on SwitchBecause it's Capcom on Switch? Nothing is given from them anymore. Maybe it happens maybe not.
Maybe 3k compared to the 10k first week on PS4?
Mary Skelter 2 for Switch launches in Japan on August 22nd for retail and digitally with the latter being cheaper.
Any predictions on how this will do compared to the PS4 version?
The same Nikkei report about a fall release also claimed Nintendo's QoL project was canceled but it was actually announced publicly yesterday, so who knows how relieable their source were this time.
IIRC. Nikkei originally said fall and then in a later report said summer.
That's right but they also claimed a sleep monitoring device was canceled.Nikkei reported that Nintendo had shut down their QoL department. And no, Pokémon Sleep isn't their QoL project, though it most definitely reuses whatever was left of it before it was scrapped
Man Switch keeps dropping every week. Went from 40-50k a few weeks ago to almost half that at 20-30k
That's right but they also claimed a sleep monitoring device was canceled.
Maybe, but we'll never know without further clarification from Nintendo. All we know is Nikkei claimed a QoL product with sleep monitoring functions developed by Nintendo was cancelled while a QoL product with sleep monitoring functions was announced by Nintendo two days ago. Is it the same product they'd been talking for years? We just can't know yet I believe.
it'll be the Plus + Ultra coming out 2022.
Huh, looks like Smash is the next game to get VR support.
Nintendo made the device. They were even rolled out to talk about it in the conference.Although many people like to pretend they are completely separate entities, there is a close relationship between TPC and Nintendo. It is very likely that Nintendo canceled QoL but everything they had worked on will be passed on to TPC.
Death Stranding rocketed straight to #1 on amazon Japan. The hype is real.

So now we have persona 5R, Death Stranding and monster Hunter expansion. The ps4 line up is coming together nicely.Kojima's games are quite popular in Japan as well, so Death Stranding is probably going to be pretty big, tooCode:PS4 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain 315.288 500.780 Konami
It should be better than last year but if MH expansion is making no big waves at retail, there will be a long gap between now and the next notable releases (coming around November). So now we have persona 5R, Death Stranding and monster Hunter expansion. The ps4 line up is coming together nicely.
It doesn't have to do well at retail. Digital is more profitable for Sony and Capcom so it's better if it performs well there. It should be better than last year but if MH expansion is making no big waves at retail, there will be a long gap between now and the next notable releases (coming around November).

No he's right. You missed the 2nd April reportNo, this week. Hell, I'd say today. They might want to keep it under wrap as long as possible, but 3 weeks from announcement to launch is just too short for a worldwide launch. 4 weeks is already pushing it.
Nikkei reported that Nintendo had shut down their QoL department. And no, Pokémon Sleep isn't their QoL project, though it most definitely reuses whatever was left of it before it was scrapped.
Not quite. The various reports re: Switch models went like this:
- January: Nikkei reports that Nintendo is planning to release new Switch model (cheaper, more portable) this FY (https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXMZO4075094031012019TJ1000/)
- March: WSJ reports that 2 Switch models are in the works, one targeted at avid gamers with enhanced features, and the cheaper model mentioned by Nikkei and presented as 3DS successor (but no release window provided) (https://www.wsj.com/articles/ninten...shareToken=sta6e3cf4c3f1f458b9d9cb7a6a4e4a2be)
- April: Nikkei reports the smaller model is slated for Fall release, contradicting WSJ (https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXMZO43574890Q9A410C1000000/), and also mentions a "next-gen" model that is certainly not ready for release (not sure if it's the same as the "avid gamers" model mentioned by WSJ)
I wasn't expecting it to. The ps4 is late in it's life I think revenue from the existing user base would be the priority. Then you are selling to your existing userbase which would not move hardware significantly
That's what happens when every other game ranges from okay to a hot mess.I just googled Sega Arcade Japan , and see Sonic in most Sega spaces. Its just weird , you would think he would sell more than 10k just by having a recognizable face.
This isn't the issue when Sonic Mania sold worse than the shitty 3D ones. If quality was the issue Transformed,Generations,Mania should have at least sold somewhat better than something like Forces. That's what happens when every other game ranges from okay to a hot mess.
Being the mascot doesnt save you from having garbage sales when you've shown time and again to produce AAA garbage that's not even 'so bad its fun' category.

I get that the varying quality of titles has led to a drop in sales everywhere. But Japan seems to have a more steep drop than everywhere else. I wonder if Sega doesn't care about marketing the game at all.
