I'm just waiting for the 2 million milestone thread.
Shouldn't be too far out. Game was at 1.73M as of March 2019, last known milestone before that was six months earlier at 1.53M. It's selling steadily, and should hit 2M by 2021. Hope we get a notification for it, though.

XBC3 could do even better, assuming it hits when Switch isn't on its way out, so that one might very well do 2.5M (XBC2 already did 300k in Japan when counting digital, per Nintendo earnings release for the FY ended March 31st 2018).

XB2's ability to completely saturate unrelated threads with shitposts back and forth nearly 2 years after it came put showcases the true strength of the game.

By using this power, XB3 will sell 300k in Japan, 2.5 mil WW. lol
Only if they stick with a hentai artist in charge of the character design

RE Engine runs on a potato, RE7, DMCV and RE2 are all playable on GPDWin2 and thus would probably run well enough on Switch. Probably better since they're all more GPU heavy / CPU light titles, and RE7 in particular since VR held it back technically. What Capcom should have done was prioritize getting RE Engine running on Switch when it was clear early on (2017) the system was going to be a big success. This may speak to a mishandling (?) of RE Engine more generally though and a sign it's not actually being positioned as the company wide MT Framework successor that some around here seem intent on recasting it as. 3 games and 1 demo limited to only one dev team in 5-6 years isn't exactly keeping pace historically with what MTF delivered.

For Monster Hunter we know how things went and there are indications Sony secured console exclusivity in Asia for 5/World, so a direct conversion of that is less commercially appealing whether possible or not. Leaks and insiders pointed to there being a plan for an alternate 5th Gen Monhan on Switch (focusing on Japan) all along but we're getting down to when a announcement would make sense timing wise starting with TGS. We'll just have to wait and see what's NeXt there.

For fighters SFV is locked down to PS4 while MVCI couldn't have worked timing wise (UE4) and flopped anyway. It's since been dropped so a late port never really made sense here. It's unfortunate but Capcom's handling of their fighters have issues well beyond Switch. I think the best they could've done on Switch (and frankly should have by now) is remaster ports of USF4 and UMVC3.

In terms of remasters and collections Capcom's doing a good job with catalog despite their recent price creep but honestly, they should've accelerated these efforts too. The recent RE games all probably should've released a year prior and there's no real reason titles like Okami HD couldn't have been fast tracked and launched alongside the other platforms. There are also still some strange omissions (Disney Afternoon, MH Stories, DGS1-2, Dead Rising 1-2, DMC4SE, DmC DE, etc, etc) that are MIA and should've also released by now. Given how well catalog games have overperformed on Switch (both for Capcom and generally) the slow ramp up (and recent feature/price missteps) here is something to be looked at and criticized imo, particularly as Capcom's looking to these sorts of catalog releases to hit their high sales targets this year.

They stopped hardware last FY in Japan and software overseas (hw shipments quietly stopped in the west years ago). End of this FY probably seems right but I wouldn't be surprised if final orders already had their cutoff date.

Going back to Konami, I think their one big misstep with Switch is not doing a FOX Engine conversion asap. It's kept PES and Metal Gear from the platform unnecessarily and also forced them to rely on Unity for Switch targeted multiplats, to less than impressive results.
We often joke about capcom trying to have releases fail on switch so they can give an excuse to stop supporting it but sometimes you have to wonder if they really do want that excuse, like how in the switches 3rd year is capcom's support even worse then it was last year. Thats generally not how this works

After announcing that their new IP (Jack Jeanne) is coming to Switch, Broccoli has announced that they're bringing their most known series, Uta no Prince-Sama, to the system

Uta no Prince-sama: Dolce Vita - platform change from Vita to Switch, TBA
Uta no Prince-sama: Repeat Love for Nintendo Switch - December 19th, 2019 (originally released on Vita on January 26th, 2017)
Uta no Prince-sama: Amazing Aria & Sweet Serenade for Nintendo Switch - TBA (originally released on Vita on October 19th, 2017)
Uta no Prince-sama: Debut for Nintendo Switch - TBA (originally released on PSP on May 24th, 2012).
Maybe they should consider putting most of them in a collection or something

Odyssey doesn't have anime tiddies, though, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.
Excuse you?

I feel like the vouchers are gonna do some numbers for xenoblade 2, XC2 gets talked about to this day for people in the weeb community and I think the only reason its not at 2 million right now is because its a nintendo game and so sales are rarer tho it occasionally happens

Fair point. I'll allow it.

I believe XBC2 actually jumped up quite a bit on the eShop recently when the vouchers first became available. The game definitely has quite some life in it still.

It's already at 1.73M, though, so the 2M is quite close.

Still amazed they haven't made a XBC2 gatcha mobile spinoff yet.

Just hope a big deal is made about it, will give takahashi more clout in the company

I see it available here, or maybe it was replenished in between ?

Word of mouth is pretty good about YW4 btw. Big issue is the framerate, which constantly drops throughout the game (Hino already promised post-launch patches to improve it) but apart from that, it's seemingly a quality game for Yokai Watch fans.

Yay, Yokai! Hopefully this translates to a big opening.

XB2 is definitely good enough to still be discussed a year and a half later. Feels good.

Also curious to see YW4's performance. Definitely won't start off as strong as I once thought but positive word of mouth could help carry it along throughout the summer and maybe even the holidays.

I love XBC2 but I didn't follow the game's production at all besides a couple of random looks into the guest Blade announcements when I was super bored. Anyways I never heard that Nomura did character design for the game so color me shocked when I get to that part of the game and I'm like, boy, all these Torna folk look like Tetsuya Nomura designed them...and HE DID. Malos in particular looks extra super Nomura.

I remember it was shown in the E3 trailer, simply stating that nomura worked on the group called torna and everyone was like "who the fuck is torna?"

I skipped parts of the E3 trailer for it because I wanted to be surprised. I probably would have remembered it if I had heard it.

But I did not.

And had a most shocking surprise for me about 30 minutes into the game.

I dont know if that is better or a worse experience of finding out nomura straight up helped designed characters for this game but it's still hilarious nonetheless, like it wassnt even a guess blade he made characters integral to the plot

It's really a trip when you get the Torna blades in NG+ and their character profile art looks straight out of KH.

the next best game is 50K under that and is the second game they made (Burst on 3DS)

[3DS] Senran Kagura Burst <ACT> (Marvelous AQL) {2012.08.30} (¥5.980) - 6.408 / 101.583

[PSV] Senran Kagura Estival Versus # <ACT> (Marvelous) {2015.03.26} (¥6.980) - 70.213 / NEW (44.548 <82,82%>)

[PS4] Senran Kagura Estival Versus # <ACT> (Marvelous) {2015.03.26} (¥7.980) - 46.584 / NEW (30.247 <87,38%>)

Smart move, although I wonder what's taking them so long. Dolce Vita was announced in January 2016 iirc. Four years for an otome seems... Excessive.

Smart move, although I wonder what's taking them so long. Dolce Vita was announced in January 2016 iirc. Four years for an otome seems... Excessive.
Shit, I forgot to combine the too. I was too busy looking at individual entries

Even if Sony absolutely nailed the hardware with a "PSP3" I feel like they'd still be at a major disadvantage because they lack the first party to really make a portable shine. All of Nintendo's games translate to portable brilliantly. I don't see how Sony could compete there.

And their advertising. It was next to non-existent for the Vita & that was one of the reasons why it flopped entirely outside of Japan.

And let's not forget; Charging an arm & a leg for their proprietary memory cards: Another reason what did the Vita in.

Sony should've let us use our own SD cards like they've done with the PSP, & what Nintendo's doing with the Switch for more storage.

Go back to their PlayStation/PlayStation 2 strategies by making both universal games and japanese focused games

Sony found great success with various franchises aimed squarely at the japanese audiences. Since then (starting with the backend of the PS2 aera and evidenced by their PSP/PS3/Vita/PS4 outputs) they've proped up their western studios, kept PD around and gave more or less the middle finger to their japanese output.

They've been entirely reliant on third parties but why would japanese gamers flock to a company that doesn't cater to their needs? This is what Nintendo gets and does and it's why they always are successful, even with incredible failures like the WiiU (which had prety fantastic software attach rates for the main Nintendo titles compared to its existing base)

Sony have always been very reliant on 3rd party games from the beginning. Microsoft even moreso.

Still think XCX while very impressive is fundamentally flawed in its overall design.
I think would get trashed on more if it was more of a big deal/released on a major platform.

But on the flip side, if it started development for switch it probably could've gotten a much bigger budget and be more of a Destiny clone like Anthem but good. Story might have gotten finished by expansions too

"Yo-kai Watch 4 took 1st place. As a numbering entry, it has been about 3 years since Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura / Sukiyaki that were released on 3DS in 2016, and it is the first one on Switch for Yo-kai Watch series. It is a game that we want to sell for a long period.
In addition, at other new releases, Yakuza 5 and Ys 8 were ranked in 2nd and 10th place."

The sequel announcement will give BotW some push to reach 2m at this point. 2 years and a half since release and still charting.
