Somewhere. I think.
First Day Sell-through {2018.06.28}

[NSW] Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana <RPG> (Nippon Ichi Software) (¥6.980) - 20%

[NSW] Shiin <ADV> (Experience) (¥4.800) - 20%

Sounds about right for both. I doubt retailers ordered many units for them. Probably will end with 40-60% sell-through on Famitsu.

Looks like I might be able to get Ys VIII for cheap. Does anyone know if there is multi language on the JPN cart?

Nope, Japanese only. Western version is English and French only (but with Japanese voices coming via patch next month).

The blog says it depends on light users.
But the VIII might scare them.

That'd be quite the pity, because the various Ys games aren't really related (except I and II, but those are basically one game split in two).

Did I miss Nintendo Q1 info? I don't see any shipment info

That's on July 31st.

Famicom Mini back in plentiful stock following Nintendo's announcement on Twitter the other day. Finally managed to pick one up. This isn't tracked, right? I recall some numbers at some point - perhaps from Nintendo directly or a Famitsu special report?

Both trackers track it, but don't share data regularly. Maybe Famitsu will have something in their July report. Otherwise, we'll have to wait for MC White Book in 2019 ;)

If we're lucky, maybe we'll get a special report from Famitsu next week, or Media Create will share data in their weekly report (with the Top 50 Software).

I have no idea what he said or why there's a Yu-Gi-Oh card in there hahaha
I think he said:

「俺のターン! DORO!」My turn DORO!
「KH3の効果発動!」 The effect of KH3, engage!
『リバースカードオープン死者蘇生」Reverse card open Resurrect Dead
「KH3トレーラーインパクト」KH3 Trailer Impact

I think I have seen like 3 minutes of Yu-Gi-Oh, so I don't know anything about it.

That makes sense. Man, that was hard to read. Things like 'Taan', 'Kado', and 'Torera' are literally unreadable haha.
Shisha Sousei is the name of that card in his post btw.

Debut trailer for Layton's Mystery Adventure DX:

So used to the anime, so character designs/animation and voices weird me out, ha ha.

Oh yeah, and Inazuma Eleven on August 26th (that's the thing they teased a while ago). Was announced at the World Hobby Fair last week.

3DS sales back in 2012 during holiday quarter (also all titles that opened with over 100k sales):

Week 40: 63.669
Week 41: 79.300 (Bravely Default)
Week 42: 60.232
Week 43: 61.542
Week 44: 93.989 (New MH bundle)
Week 45: 187.077 (Animal Crossing)
Week 46: 168.876
Week 47: 162.077 (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon)
Week 48: 167.408 (Professor Layton)
Week 49: 211.499 (Paper Mario)
Week 50: 319.025 (Inazuma Eleven)
Week 51: 411.272
Week 52: 250,205 (Fantasy Life)
Total = 2.236.171

So more than that.

Well i guess we shall see. They don't have to get to 20 million though lol. They can also lower their forecast ;)
I looked at last year's sales for Switch and ran what I think is a really optimistic comparison for the final 13 weeks of 2018:

Week 40: 75,000 (Mario Party)
Week 41: 60,000
Week 42: 50,000
Week 43: 75,000
Week 44: 100,000 (November begins)
Week 45: 100,000
Week 46: 175,000 (Pokemon launch)
Week 47: 200,000
Week 48: 200,000 (December begins)
Week 49: 225,000
Week 50: 375,000
Week 51: 375,000
Week 52: 250,000
Total = 2.260,000

Definitely curious. Theoretically, Nintendo could lower their forecast. However, with the way they've continued to announce both first party and third party games so close to their release dates, it makes me think that, if they feel like they need some extra momentum, they will simply announce and release a big game or two at the appropriate times to make sure they hit that 20MM target. Both the launch of Nintendo Online and early March seem like prime candidates for such a move.

I know im gonna get booed of the stage, but i really really want them to announce a New Nintendo Switch type of Revision on July 13, no matter how unlikely or too early it is.

Just give me any excuse to buy a second switch please.

I'm with you.
A revision announcement is long overdue if we compare Switch to past handhelds (yeah, yeah, it's a console, blah).

There's plenty of positive effects a revision could achieve at this point in time:

1.) Obviously, improved the device. More ram, better cpu, better battery life, built-in microphone (and maybe camera). It wouldn't be a Switch 2, but really a Switch Pro. "Get the new Switch Pro this fall! Has all the features you need for the best online-experience!" to offer a quick marketing bit.

2.) A new model would boost sales.

3.) A patallel happening price cut of the old model would make it a more affordable entry device, ideal for when the younger audiences arrive for Pokemon. Also boosting LABO appeal.

It's hard to predict a revision for various reasons, but ... I really want one.

To me it feels like the Switch only just released, it's weird to think that going by historical handheld trends, it's not far off having a revision announced.

Even if you want to compare the Switch to other handhelds, the "Switch Pro" equivalent of the 3DS didn't come out until 3.5 years after the original, so the timeline for that kind of revision still doesn't line up with 2018.

The early revisions we get for DS and 3DS were mostly about improving the form factor, and the original models of those handhelds had a lot more room and opportunity for improvement than the Switch does. Who knows what Nintendo will do, but I don't think a revision makes a lot of sense right now (nor do I think they'll release one just for the sake of releasing one).

Given what we know about how packed its internals are and assuming that a process small enough to make a sizable difference isn't quite ready for mature production, a Switch Pro as described would need to be far, far larger than the current Switch. And that's without being any thicker, unless you think they should juggle with different dock form factors. I feel that it's not quite correct to say that this kind of revision could achieve the effects you describe at this point in time.

Personally, I'd think 2020 is likely the earliest we'd see what you're describing, if that's what we end up getting in its entirety.

They could have a dock-focused revision which changes up the USB-C port configuration for thunderbolt or a similarly speedy technology to focus on exporting info to the dock to be upresed there, but can also hold its own.

With that in mind, the switch's hardware would have been decided around 2.5-3 years ago at this point. The Tegra X1 used in the Switch released in Q2 2015, and at least in theory could be upgraded to a more powerful chip with a similar architecture without too too much hassle. If we gave it another year, i.e. until holiday 2019 we could get an upgraded tegra, upgraded internal memory - likely by a lot due to the growth of flash memory usage - and perhaps even a small upgrade in RAM. I don't personally foresee an 'upgrade' per se to the CPU simply for compatibility and cost-cutting reasons, but it's not entirely out of the question.

My hope is that whenever the switch gets its first price cut, it'll also be accompanied by a revised version of the console - maybe not even any huge upgrades - but so long as it has more internal memory and runs my games slightly better I'll be happy to put out the $400 CAD on my favourite console and handheld.

It's really a shame that they didn't and/or couldn't do the Thunderbolt thing from the start. That patent from ages back made it seem at least a little bit likely, and it would have made our speculation about future performance potential far more interesting.

I could see a 2019 model with faster cpu and more memory+storage (and changes to enable a "Super Dock" option) albeit not appreciably higher battery life at the same time. By then I will have dropped my Switch enough times to probably necessitate purchase of a new one anyway. Actually, for me the best option would probably be a Switch with the same cpu/gpu/memory/storage but larger battery life and Thunderbolt. That way it may not be more expensive a repurchase than the current model but would allow me a potential incremental performance upgrade in docked mode afterward.

But this is straying off topic, perhaps. Is there a "Future Switch Revision Porn" thread somewhere around here... *starts hunting*

No matter what happens, I really don't see a revised model launch later than 2019. I agree that 2018 us/would have been a bit surprising. But a revision in 2019? Definitely. How much of an upgrade it'll be, that's up for discussion. But in 2020 and beyond, we're talking about full-on Switch 2-likelihood.

Yea believe its a festival/event. I would think the game will be dated. If it isn't, it might be 2019?

Not sure they'd reveal the release date there, pretty certain that's a CoroCoro reveal.

Whew 6500 yen for a ticket for Inazuma Eleven Fes 2018... quite expensive if you ask me.

Is it now? In comparison, cheapest tickets for Tales of Fes is 7 000 Yen (and that's for the really shitty spots on the sides. Though I can't say I'm familiar with the price of fan events in Japan, Tales of Fes is the only one I could think of.

Depends how is the event.
Tales of Festival you are basically there to assist multiple concerts, a dozen of seiyuu having special skit for their characters in the biggest close arena possible (15-20000 places iirc) for 3-4 straight hours.
All of that while sitting.

On the other hand you have things like the Granblue Fest which took place at the Makuhari Messe (same place as the Tokyo Games Show) and was much cheaper but you had to stroll around different places to see things for a whole day and couldn't sit a lot (and it was really crowded) but that was for 1.500y

Not so long ago I think the Sakura Taisen Live stage was around the same range of price than Tales of Festival as well.

So yeah, depends of where the Inazuma Fes takes place, and what they will do there but it's rather in the upper range especially considering the, I assume, lower appeal and value proposition they will do.

Can't Find a PlayStation 4? Blame It On a Part Barely Bigger Than a Speck

Tiny components called multilayer ceramic capacitors power everything from smartphones to cars. And there's a global shortage of them.

TOKYO—If store shelves don't have the electronic device you're looking for, the cause might lie in a chunk of ceramic less than a millimeter on each side.

It happened in Japan earlier this year when Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 4 suddenly became hard to find. A popular new game called "Monster Hunter: World" led to a surge of demand for the videogame machine. Engineers at Sony say the company couldn't quickly make more because components ran short, especially the part called a multilayer ceramic capacitor, or MLCC.

...

Thought this was interesting since I wasn't sure what was causing the PS4 shortages earlier.

They can't have 25 weeks for first half and 27 for second. It's one of these rare cases dates don't match with their system.

Thank you very much.

It could be a problem in the West since they could beat their forecast. I hope it will be fixed by then and they'll avoid shortages during the Holiday season.

Too many people took the bait. Obvious trolling should not rattle people's cages so much.

I do miss the contrast though. Being able to spin any none sense was fun to watch.

Obvious trolling should be instabanned, rather than giving people several chances to come back for more.

Now i only wonder how long till a certain someone who got banned recently gets a permaban.
