Level 5 hasn't found a hit for some time now. Financials must not be the best and they continue to be super slow at releases.
I looked at that 150k twice. I'm in shock. What the heck happened to yokai watch? I thought it was huge in japan
You can already feel they are cutting budget on stuff like the Inazuma Eleven Orion anime, especially after Ares.Level 5 hasn't found a hit for some time now. Financials must not be the best and they continue to be super slow at releases.
"Was" is the right word to use, yeahI looked at that 150k twice. I'm in shock. What the heck happened to yokai watch? I thought it was huge in japan
I was so excited for both the anime and the game and now I'm hoping that the game even releases one day.You can already feel they are cutting budget on stuff like the Inazuma Eleven Orion anime, especially after Ares.
As a fan who watch it every week, it's really irritating.
It's a big blow for L5 but it sucks for Nintendo too. Yokai Watch and Monster Hunter were huge 3rd party pillars of the 3DS. One is gone and the other don't sell much anymore. 2 years in and the Switch is still looking for its first big 3rd party hit (besides Minecraft obviously but that's on a league of its own). And there's nothing much on the horizon.
Biggest third-party release for the Switch and the Switch sales are the second worst week of the year..
Nintendo isnt invested in the IP like that, they knew that it would fall off and YW4 wasn't treated like a mayor release from Nintendo. It's a big blow for L5 but it sucks for Nintendo too. Dragon Quest will save third party sales!aaaaaand, here it goes the strongest third party game for switch....depressing.
for both hw and sw
Time for them to give up on the niche Switch market and make shiny graphic game for the West since this is what selling there /saaaaaand, here it goes the strongest third party game for switch....depressing.

They fucked it up big time, i mean they were releasing 3 versions or something in the same year if i remember correctly.
don't know why you're including my response in there
It was. Here are previous first week salesI looked at that 150k twice. I'm in shock. What the heck happened to yokai watch? I thought it was huge in japan

Don't know myself ^^
Damn, I mean of course the install bases aren't comparable but for a mainline entry I thought it would be higher than 250K opening at least.Hell even Buster 2 spinoff opened with over 200k just 18 months ago.
Wow. That is a huge huge drop :oIt was. Here are previous first week sales
Yo-kai Watch 2 Ganso / Honke (July 10 2014): 1,316,707
Yo-kai Watch 2 Shinuchi (December 13 2014): 1,244,171
Yo-kai Watch 3 Sushi / Tempura (July 16 2016): 632,135
Yo-kai Watch 3 Sukiyaki (Decmber 15 2016): 337,979
Can't say it bothers me to see third parties fumbling around and getting the sales that reflect that. If you abandon or don't cater to your audience and go looking for greener pastures only to return to the one you left - well don't expect a big welcome.

You should at least wait until next month to decide if it's an evergreen or not lolIts sales will grown with the system. It's an evergreen. But there's a limit to how high it can go.
I don't understand this comment. When did Level-5 abandon or not cater to their audience? When did they go looking for greener pastures?
Yo-kai Watch 4 was never anything other than a Switch title.

The difference with that is that a new generation of Pokémon, a new iteration, is still every 3 to 4 years, not every year. Between that you get enhanced versions and remakes but they never do as well as new newNever understood the milking argument when there is basically now a new mainline Pokemon about every year.

That club only has one member though. It's #2 of all time and not moving up or down a rung no matter what (unless/until the Switch gets to 24m).I'm still wondering if the 3DS will join the 25m sellers club.
It would just be console war bait pitting it console vs console instead of console vs the community. Can we get an edit for this but instead of the 3DS it's a PS4 and the crying woman in a Switch? We can use it everything a PS4 title sneaks into the top 10.
