Goodbye 3DS, your era is over.

You gave us panic, emergency pricedrop, a crazy December that no one will forget, memes and salt in abundance when you refused to die.

But everything is temporary and your time has come.

Goodbye sweet prince, you did good.

That's some pretty good numbers for Attack on Titan, owners of the original Aot 2 game could just buy the new content as a DLC.

So the coupon offer will indeed help to raise the baseline and not be a one time bump.

Impressive results for the Switch hardware that don't translate in software --> voucher + coupon should be responsible of some big digital sales.

Considering Final Battle is available as DLC that's not bad for AOT2.

Definitely shows that Bamco is right to ignore Switch for teen focused anime games./s

Next big PS4 release is Monster Hunter World expansion, right?
It's going be a harsh 2 months ride.

I wouldn't have announced it this early, those 10 weeks sold in 2017 and 2018 sold over 500k units each.
I agree that its announced a bit early, but i dont think it will affect the total hardware sale. Those who were going to buy a Switch in those weeks, those sales will potenitally just be moved to a later date. The only downside i can see is if theres games released within that period, and those games might be "old" when the Switch Lite releases, and those games can end up being bought used instead of new. But i dont know how big of an impact that would have. Would be hard to prove one way or another i think.

Software sold well, surprised at the different between PS4 and NSW version of AoT2 (was expecting closer numbers).
From looking at some gameplay it looks like the game has pretty much parity in visuals between PS4 version and Switch version. No real surprise for me in that case.

75k is great. Curious to see what the announcement of the Switch Lite will do for hardware sales. Also curious to see if Sony plans a price drop around the same time (a ~20k yen PS4 500GB would look quite nice next to a 20k yen Switch Lite).

I think Switch may diminish a bit due to the lite announcement, but I think the different value proposition plus the 3k voucher can hold sales at reasonable levels.

The Switch Lite reveal video was pretty upfront about it's shortcomings compared to the main Switch, I think the main Switch still has enough of a value proposition to not drop off too badly as the Lite approaches.

The eShop voucher is doing its work for Switch hardware sales!

58% drop is good for Mario Maker. It will be a steady seller over the summer.

Only 22.260 units sold for Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers is a disappointing number. A comparison to the previous expansion:
Code:
03./00. [PS4] Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood # <RPG> (Square Enix) {2017.06.20} (¥3.800) - 29.328 / NEW <80-100%>
07./00. [PS4] Final Fantasy XIV: The Complete Edition {Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn \ Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward \ Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood} <RPG> (Square Enix) {2017.06.20} (¥5.800) - 6.211 / NEW <60-80%>
Total: 35.539

05./00. [PS4] Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward # <RPG> (Square Enix) {2015.06.23} (¥4.104) - 35.830 / NEW <40-60%>
12./00. [PS3] Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward # <RPG> (Square Enix) {2015.06.23} (¥4.104) - 8.509 / NEW <40-60%>
16./00. [PS4] Final Fantasy XIV: The Complete Experience {Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn \ Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward} <RPG> (Square Enix) {2015.06.23} (¥6.264) - 4.726 / NEW <40-60%>
Total: 49.065

Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle sold 33.944 units across PS4 and NSW. I'm surprised the better-selling version is on Switch. It's a 49% drop compared to the launch sales of the original Attack on Titan 2 release, which is worse than I expected after the GEO report, but I guess it makes sense.

A 75% drop for Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu is a bit higher than expected. Usually it's around 70% for the second week. Let's see what word of mouth will do for its sales throughout the summer. I hope this will become a 150k+ seller, and I hope Konami will include the Switch in its platform line-up for Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2020.

Wasn't sold on the idea of handheld-only tbh, but 199/20k is great and sales should really pick up the pace. Curious if sales will stall, since it isn't replacing the current Switch. Really looking forward to September now.

Also wow at Switch hardware, guess the bump was delayed lol. Good for SMM2 as well, and oof for PS4.

Yeah, I don't think the sales will bomb, but if I were making decisions I wouldn't have announced until September. Maybe the feature differences and the 3000¥ voucher and upcoming games will be enough.

Yeah - they are targeting a different audience with the Switch Mini.
If they had announce a Switch Pro that offer TV Mode and more features - that would have been an isse for the current Switch.

Probably because the hardware was about to leak anyway and they would have to adress it at some point with the press.
It also helps that they have a strong software lineup - so they kinda can take a small hit from people that would rather have a handheld only Switch.

that's probably why it was such an indepth video. that said, I still think OG systems are gonna slow quite a bit

Goodbye 3DS, your era is over.

You gave us panic, emergency pricedrop, a crazy December that no one will forget, memes and salt in abundance when you refused to die.

But everything is temporary and your time has come.

Goodbye sweet prince, you did good.

You're totally right, but it is funny to say this when it's still selling 10x what the Vita is selling.

Switch is off the charts. Incredibly impressive off of a game that a lot of people doubted. Outselling the PS4 by 7x is noted.

I don't think Switch sales are going to die off terribly. I think 2 months for a console announcement is totally fair. It has mass appeal so it will keep selling to hardcore gamers/adults and households with only one are now eyeing it for September to get the kids to stop fighting over it.
