Seems the narrative of the low sales of TMS being due to supply issues is being discussed in another thread:

It's not supply issues though. It's that it's 2k yen cheaper with the voucher. As seen with Famitsu sellthrough was 60-80%.
I thought you would be better than this. Sure, someone in the thread mentioned shortages. But where in the OP of that thread does it say "shortages"? So no, it is not a thread based on a supplies issue narrative.Seems the narrative of the low sales of TMS being due to supply issues just got it's own thread:

Ring Fit will fight with Pokemon for first place this week.

Since Thursday isn't far some predictions for Nintendo's quarter new releases
Pokemon Sword and Shield: 14-15m
Luigi's Mansion 3: 6-6,5m
Ring Fit Adventure: 2-2,5m
10-11m
No, I read the OP several times and it is not in any way insinuating what you say.Tecnically it does not use the PRECISE "shortages" term, though is pretty clear what he mean...
Point to keep in mind, it is the increased presence of the Switch in smaller markets vs the 3DS era.For comparation Sun/Moon did 14.69 million in 2016.
Sw/Sh did better in Japan, though it seem they did worse in America and France. i can see 14 million for this quarter.
We know that Sword/Shield had sold 6 million copies during its opening weekend (source), which means it was selling faster than Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (which moved 5 million copies worldwide in three days - source). Super Smash Bros. Ultimate shipped 12.08 million units in 2018 (source), though that game launched three weeks later in the year than Sword/Shield.For comparation Sun/Moon did 14.69 million in 2016.

Sun/Moon sold 3.5 million units in two weeks in Japan and Europe combined (source), and 3.7 million units in North America in more or less the same timeframe (source). That totals ~7.2 million in total in ~2 weeks.
If Sword/Shield is below Sun/Moon, that would mean "more or less week 2" sales would be below 7.2-6.0 = 1.2 million units. That would indicate a worldwide average drop of 80%. Of course this is just a small segment of the total market, but the physical market drop of the games in Japan was 72% (source). Personally, I think 80% would be a very harsh drop for a game like Pokémon, on a worldwide scale. I wouldn't be surprised if the digital share of Sword/Shield is higher than Sun/Moon's. Downloading big files from the 3DS eShop was a big pain, so that may also negatively impact the impressions we get in comparison to Sun/Moon.
Of course this is all based on launch period sales performances. We have no idea how Sword/Shield compares to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or Sun/Moon in terms of December sales. I'm not ruling out the possibility that Sword/Shield did indeed ship less units in its calendar year of release than Sun/Moon did, but personally, I think the opposite is more likely, and I will absolutely not be surprised if global shipments of Sword/Shield in 2019 exceed 15.00 million units, or perhaps even 16.00 million.

Because people will say its selling poorly when it's most likely along atlus/nintendo's expectations. People will throw around their own armchair expectations like they are fact, even chris has been more positive on this games sales than what people are saying.I don't know why some people seem almost upset at people saying TMS is selling rather poorly. It is and well, it happens.

Dengeki Online Sales: Week 2, 2020 (Jan 06 - Jan 12)
What I have said is that Nintendo doesn't care to port Wii U games that have been low sellers since it is a waste of resources that could have used better elsewhere.Because people will say its selling poorly when it's most likely along atlus/nintendo's expectations. People will throw around their own armchair expectations like they are fact, even chris has been more positive on this games sales than what people are saying.

That they bothered with TMS has to do more with Atlus incompetence to release anything on Switch 3 years in and with SMTV release date approaching fast.
It is an outsourced cheap port which recouped costs almost immediately and wasn't given advertising budget since it was known from before there was s low ceiling for its sales.
Tsutaya expects the game to come out this year. It's definitely approaching but the speed at which it is doing so remains to be seen...
That would surprise me if it actually releases this year. It is definitely going to be re-revealed this year, though.
at least this time they don't have to build an engine
I don't know on what retailers are basing these kind of bets but that's at least something. That would surprise me if it actually releases this year. It is definitely going to be re-revealed this year, though.
I'd expect the radio silence to be partly due to lessons they learned about Persona 5's promotion, and the re-reveal would be accompanied by a release date. That would surprise me if it actually releases this year. It is definitely going to be re-revealed this year, though.
Hardware sales aren't slowing down because of limited editions if they don't include revisions or price drops.
That would be great.
Anyways here are my predictions:
Pokémon Sword/Shield: 14m
Luigi's Mansion 3: 6m
Ring Fit Adventure: 2m
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 22,5m
Smash Ultimate: 17,5m
Mario Odyssey: 16m
BotW: 15,5m
Pokémon Let's Go: 12m
Splatoon 2: 10m
Hardware: 9,5-10m
Oh, wow.
Is there any source on Switch being overshipped last quarter ?You have to consider that Nintendo overshipped Switch very much in the last quarter. Due to that, I would predict that the shipments were a litte bit lower in Q4 than a lot of people think. I would predict 9.5 Mio. shipped units for christmas quarter.
