Media Create expects for Famista Evolution on Switch similar sales with Famista Returns and Famista Climax on 3DS (~150k).

Next potential weeks for a 10/10 Switch are 33 and 34, Obon and post Obon.

I mainly included it because, while a mix of 1s and 5s is very common, I noticed over time that games in the 4.0 To 4.5 band tend to have a notably better chance of long term success than games in the 2.5 To 3.5 band.

It's very rare to be below 2.5 or at 5.0.
Sounds like it works out pretty well then, despite how ridiculous it seems (to me) to just throw either 5s or 1s.

It seems that Okami faces supply shortage on Amazon JP? The page shows delivery in 1 ~ 3 months.

I know that everybody is waiting for this week numbers, but I'd like to ask the people in these threads living in Japan. I received this message from Play-Asia regarding my physical copy of Okami HD:

Does anybody has more info on this? Have you seen any other games impacted by this typhoon?

Not sure about the typhoon but Play-Asia hasn't yet updated people like me that preordered the game with them, so I guess this could be related.

Edit: Just noticed the one answering my message there was also you Jim :) Anyway, I have no idea what's going on with the physical copies of Okami Switch.

Ojamakan osaka (low price for new and used, surprising)

lol what a funny sticker on the left, wonder why is it necessary.

"since this game released Switch HW weekly sale surpassed 50k! and by the way XBOXone is 47 and XBX is 32."

Attack on Titan is still down there?
I had thought its legs were done.

Wonder how my Hero Academia will do. The NSW version is picking up slightly on comg I noticed.

For some reason I thought capcom said earlier this year an Ace Attorney game would hit this FY

I wouldn't be surprised if there was an announcement in the next month or so.

Yeah, it is weird. I think some people from the west may order from Amazon JP for the physical copy, but I don't think the amount can contribute to a shortage. Playasia could be right about a typhoon affecting the supply. They might be confused about the timing of that typhoon as it was happened in late July ~ early August instead of early this week.

Attack on Titan season 3 is running at the moment, so probably it will hold for a while on those positions.

2018 would have been the year when both Bandai Namco and Level 5 redeemed themselves regarding the Switch.

L5 got its first 100k-seller with The Snack World and announced an exclusive Yokai-Watch 4 this Winter.

Bandai Namco has already two 100k sellers (DBFZ and Taiko) and 3 more games that could do it until the end of the year : Famista, Dragon Ball FighterZ and My Hero Academia (with mayyybe one more between Tales Of Vesperia/Dark Souls and a surprise announcement).

L5 2017 line-up :

- Nothing

L5 2018 line-up :

- The Snack World
- Layton's
- Inazuma Eleven
- Yokai-Watch 4 (not 100% confirmed for 2018 yet but going by previous entries, it is likely a December game)

Bandai Namco 2017 line-up :

- One Piece: Unlimited World Red - Deluxe Edition
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
- One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 - Deluxe Edition

Bandai Namco 2018 line-up :

- Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Legacy for Nintendo Switch
- SD Gundam G Generation: Genesis for Nintendo Switch
- Little Nightmares: Complete Edition
- Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'N' Fun!
- Famista
- My Hero Academia
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Dark Souls Remastered
- Tales of Vesperia

There is actually more from Bandai Namco- Neko Tomo and Go Vacation. But yes, I think you can clearly see a vast improvement from Namco already, and there have been other announcements recently that are either 2019 or not known yet (Digimon Survive, Kamen Rider).

I realized something REALLY interesting.

Put a ruler and lean it against your monitor screen on this chart, and look at how straight Switch is in 2018.

That's beautiful.

My take on the straight line is that there is a systemic limiting factor : price.

The last successful console with such a high price was the PS2 so it'll be interesting to compare both sales curve (with each price drops written in the graph)

Not stock, seems like they're just releasing 50k units per week??

Seems like they're shipping the right amount- no reports of shortages and from anecdotal reports in this thread, what they ship sells quickly (i.e not sitting on the shelf for weeks) but not to the extent its causing any real shortages.

"To commemorate the occasion, all players who login within the period of availability listed below will be sent 3 Capsule Tickets!"

I'm thinking this is WW downloads on Switch (since it is available WW), not just Japan since it doesn't specify.

Edit: Thinking about it, its download ranking compared to games like Fortnite and Paladins on Japan eShop isn't on the same level.

I'd say it's certain that the 300k downloads is a worldwide figure.

Sorry for being late.

I see Overcooked is as popular as ever in Japan. Also, a couple of fans got SaGa nostalgia last week, he he.

Somewhere. I think.
oh, so am I remembering correctly then?

a collection/remaster before march and sequel late 2019 or 2020 I'd guess

The second season of the anime series starts in October, so 1-2-3 Collection most likely out in October or November.

Most likely timeline based on previous reveals:

1) early September: Famitsu reveal
2) TGS: first trailer + additional details
3) late october / november = collection release
4) spring or summer = release

Previous games were already made in HD for smartphone release, so I don't think Switch transition will cause much problems or require much extra work (so 2020 isn't likely imo).

Surprised there b.c. is no western release since the game is already in english

There was, actually.

Does Shenmue Remaster release same day in Japan as in west? I mean it probably wont sell anything special but just interested to see how many hardcore fans there is left from DC days.

2012 Nintendo software sales - 12.645.986

Chris this total doesn't include Pokemon US/UM & Pokken because Pokemon Company counts as 3rd party right. Pokemon sold 2M while Pokken did 176K by the end of 2017

Pretty impressive considering, last year Nintendo had a stacked first half of the year in terms of the software sales:
Splatoon 2, MK8D, Zelda, SMM 3DS, 1-2 Switch, Arms, FEE vs Kirby, MTA, Mario+Rabbids, DKTF, Labo Variety

Top 10 3DS & Switch software 2017(Week 31)
Code:
1) [3DS] Monster Hunter Double Cross - 1.657.748
2) [3DS] Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - 1.130.468
3) [3DS] Pokemon Sun / Moon - 844.827
4) [NSW] Splatoon 2 - 800.394
5) [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 556.144
6) [NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 483.900
7) [3DS] Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS - 349.478
8) [NSW] 1-2 Switch - 208.124
9) [NSW] Arms - 197.167
10)[3DS] Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia - 191.141
TOTAL: 6.419.391

Top 10 3DS & Switch software 2018(Week 31)
Code:
1) [NSW] Splatoon 2 - 778.687
2) [NSW] Kirby Star Allies(2018) - 569.055
3) [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 551.148
4) [NSW] Super Mario Odyssey - 431.685
5) [NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 343.339
6) [3DS] Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon - 290.780
7) [NSW] Mario Tennis Aces(2018) - 277.271
8) [NSW] Mario + Rabbids(2018) - 200.131
9) [NSW] Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze(2018) -198.705
10)[NSW] Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 01: Variety Kit(2018) - 188.936
TOTAL: 3.829.737

Looking at the top 10 at this point of last year there was still had sizable 3rd party games on the 3DS, also Pokemon Sun / Moon performed much better than US / UM doing. Without Monster Hunter XX and DQXI for example 3DS + Switch top 10 is pretty close to 2018 top 10 total. But the main growth is probably coming from games outside of the top 10. Games like 1-2 Swtch have sold over 100K in 2018, Captain Toad is doing great numbers - the only 1st games that didn't really perform were Sushi Strikers and the Labo Robot kit.

I can see small software sales growth in August, there wasn't any Nintendo software launching in August and the only game that did considerable numbers was Splatoon 2 which sold 220K of Nintendo's 495K total, the next highest selling game MK8D did 49K. This year you have Splatoon 2 which is guaranteed to sell over 100K in August MK8D, Mario Tennis Aces, WarioWare Gold all likely to sell over >50K and a lot of other titles that will end up with over 25K sales for the month(Zelda, Captain Toad, Super Mario Odyssey, Kirby, Labo Variety).

For September we know that there is going to be a Labo Vehicle launch, so it's extremely likely we see growth there as well - last year the biggest launch for Nintendo during September was Metroid with 40K. Splatoon 2 was easily the best selling game with 89K sales for the month.

October could be the one month 2017 does better than 2018, Super Mario Party is probably going to do well but not at Super Mario Odyssey level. SMO takes up 637K of Octobers 916K sales, while Splatoon 2 adds 118K. Best case scenario is that Super Mario Party does >300K and overall sales are around >700K.

For December and November there will be sizable growth, last year you had just Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2 & Style Saavy launching during the last quarter - their total sales were 1.590.145 for 2017, Smash will easily top that on it's own. If Nintendo's Labo initiative works out for the holiday, I can see it joining Smash/Splatoon 2 as the other 1st party software driver during December.

There are still some unknowns but I doubt we see any 1st party games released on the 3DS, potentially Nintendo might announce a smaller title or two for the last quarter or another Labo Pack. The other potential unknown is Splatoon 2, Mario Tennis Aces, MK8D or SMO DLC. MTA is probably going to get a sizable update in the upcoming months. Splatoon 2 will probably get another couple of major updates. And I can see MK8D DLC that coincides with Mario Kart Tour launch. SMO is the most unlikely candidate for additional DLC.

Somewhere. I think.
Dengeki

Fiscal Year 2018 (April 1st to July 29th)

  • Hardware: 1 220 000 units (-31.4%) / 35.7 billion Yen (-24.7%)
  • Software: 5.95 million units (-31.2%) / 38.5 billion Yen (-27.6%)
  • Total: 74.2 billion Yen (-26.2%)
As of June, market was actually slightly up: +3.09% (56.9 billion Yen). July alone tanked sales hard.

July 2017:

- DQXI + Splatoon 2 = 2.84 million units, 19.8 billion Yen

July and August 2017:

- DQXI + Splatoon 2 = 4 million units, 28 billion Yen

Will be hard for August to compensate for July, so market will most likely still be down Year on Year as of the end of August.

4/5 stars difficulty for YSO. Obon next week, if WarioWare doesn't hold it will be all Switch.
