Octopath Traveler restocks news :p

Many stores received EOX 3ds today, low quantities.

It seems like it's the worst week, almost nothing (3rd week: m-c 13.238, fam 10.951, dgk 10,622, 5th week: m-c 11.390, fam 10.503, dgk 11,318)

Makes sense to have your worst week for stock to be during Obon. Well played SE.

Variety kit is still the most appealing labo kit. Then vehicle, then robot.

Dont expect vehicle kit to outsell variety.

If YSO is right, I think we can definitely conclude that anime games do better on Switch. There is an audience for it, probably because the casual share for people buying anime games is higher.

Yeah, probably won't but I think robot kit likely taught them a valuable lesson in pricing.

Variety kit seems to have the best pacing to it, as it's a bunch of smaller kits meaning you can do one a day or so. Robot is one big piece that's all required. The building is probably the only good part of robot kit so once that's up there's basically nothing more to do with it

Building is currently the only really fun thing about Labo hence the appeal of variety kit. Bunch of medium and smaller projects is better than single big project. Especially if you want to build with others.

I'm a fun of Labo, but because building is only fun part and it's a one time thing, it's really still more of a neat novelty than anything. I'm curious of there will be many repeat buyers.

I'vs seen plenty of anime advertise the switch, a coincidence? I think not!!

On that topic, the Switch is literally the perfect artist shorthand to show a gaming device since it can be both a handheld or a home console, instead of needing to have separate designs for each situation. The home console design is literally just the handheld in a box. It being the only current-gen handheld probably also helps, since Vita doesn't seem to be getting a successor anytime soon.

it's less that and more "switch is popular with the demographic"

Vanillaware would be right at home there.

BTW does anyone know what are they doing right now? (I guess finishing 13 sentinels, but who knows)

Just that I think. Shocked at the lack of a Muramasa HD on Switch honestly.

In fact, I dreamed last night that Arc Rise Fantasia 2 was announced for Switch and PS4, but because it wasn't by Imageepoch, it looked like poop as if it were a PS2 game or something, or just heavily unfinished.

It was weird.

Yes please! With the Rebirth content at the very least, as I only played the Wii version.

Funny enough, I've heard folks give the opinion that Ignition's original translation was preferred over Aksys' more literal one. Rising Star actually polished the former up so it'd likely be the definitive translation for folks. Honestly why didn't Rising Star re-release the Wii original under them with their translation in NA on the Wii U eShop I will never know.

Regardless, I'd hope XSEED will FINALLY get to do what they were supposed to do and localize a hopeful Switch version. I still remember when XSEED was supposed to get Muramasa and Arc Rise Fantasia before Ignition got their paws on both. :'(

Really? Because in Europe they write imported from Kyoto and in the states they writte made in Japan.

Isnt that referring to the game itself(the code) rather than the cardrige ?

Unless Nintendo changed their distribution/production system with the Switch, all game carts are made in Japan without exception, though the whole thing is assembled (basically, cart put in box, etc.) in Germany for Europe. Nothing should be made outside Japan, except the cardboard sheets for Nintendo Labo (which are all done in their respective regions).

Nope. All games carts are made in Japan, no exception.

nheeldljs2pz-1024x793.png

Never seen the back of a US Switch game case before, that's neat that it says Made in Japan on the back.

Is there anything more concrete than that? I can see a situation where they produce the cart parts in Japan, ship them to someplace closer, and then do the writing and assembling and printing.

I just find it difficult to believe that they would make, write, assemble, and package the games in Japan and then ship them, since the shipping time would be about 3 weeks to the US, and who knows how long it would take to get from Japan to Europe.

Nintendo European carts are printed in Europe. Germany was the place before, it must remain the same now. There's no way they come from Japan.

I don't think there is enough evidence for that. All we can really conclude is anime games have solid success on Switch.

Getting game cart shipments exclusively from Japan to world wide seems counterproductive.
Shipping some components to European or American factories like switch boxes and casings might make more sense.

it's possible the carts are made in japan but the roms are pressed in NA and Europe
I know, I just tried to help out with more information.
But let's say capcom imports those carts. Do they send them to Germany to get the rom on it? Or maybe they just import them directly to Germany

Question. Is Famitsu releasing this week? Because they didn't last week for Obon naturally and I wasn't sure if they're taking this coming week of also.

Thanks! :)

Yeah, 13 Sentinels is taking a long time to develop. Dragon's Crown release was way back in 2013. I guess it makes sense, since they did release Odin Sphere Leifthrasir back in 2016. Plus they only have 29 employees, according to their website.

Pre-Obon week was weaker since it was still riding Dragon Quest XI and Splatoon 2 close releases but with Switch evergreens Obon week will be stronger this year.

No way imo

In fact, I don't think NSMBU will explode the way Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Pokken, etc exploded.
I don't think it was quite buried on Wii U to the same degree as other games.
Mainly because it was a launch title, and bundled heavily.

Not saying it'll sell worse than the Wii U version, but I don't see the same multiplier other games have gotten.

I disagree.

Only cause it's exactly the type of game that is more appealing on a handheld.

Plus, I bet it offers more than the OG NSMBU did.

Mario Kart wasn't buried on Wii U. It's the second-best selling game on the platform in Japan.

Top 10

NSW - 8
3DS - 1
PS4 - 1

"It was a week there was no release for Obon Festival. [NSW] Minecraft won 1st place at its 9th week. It has sold more than [WIU] Minecraft: Wii U Edition in about nine months from release, and has appeal at a wide range of ages.
In top 10, Switch software has taken 8 from 10 places as a result of high availability of Switch hardware again. Since new releases before Obon were low profile we have the impression this year is lacking the excitement comparing to last year."
