I bet there will be three or less PS4/PSV titles in this week's MC top 20.
"It was a week there was no release for Obon Festival. [NSW] Minecraft won 1st place at its 9th week. It has sold more than [WIU] Minecraft: Wii U Edition in about nine months from release, and has appeal at a wide range of ages.
In top 10, Switch software has taken 8 from 10 places as a result of high availability of Switch hardware again. Since new releases before Obon were low profile we have the impression this year is lacking the excitement comparing to last year."
At least this year holiday looks much betterYup, that was certainly a weak Summer overall, not just Obon. Lack of big hit like Yo-kai Watch the previous years and DQXI and Splatoon 2 last year really hurt.A damn shame, because Switch Software is doing great.
Splatoon 2 bundle is a major SKU from the moment it relaunched. Standalone copies are out of top 10 at retailer rankings and Splatoon 2 sales are in top 3 every week.
And 2 or 3 for 3DS: WarioWare Pokemon, Captain Toad.No PSV titles for sure.
PS4 2 at best (Yakuza and Pro Wrestling).
In fact, I dreamed last night that Arc Rise Fantasia 2 was announced for Switch and PS4, but because it wasn't by Imageepoch, it looked like poop as if it were a PS2 game or something, or just heavily unfinished.
It was weird.
It looked exactly like the first game then.
The gap in raw power wasn't that big between PS2 and Wii and Arc Rise Fantasia was a mid-low budget JRPG and the first attempt of a full 3D title by a rather new studio, by almost every standard it looked like a PS2 game (which is perfectly fine btw).
Splatoon 2 will be around 25-30k at Media Create and 30-35k at Famitsu. If Minecraft has some small chances to top these numbers it will be at Media Create.I just want to see a Microsoft game being the number 1, in a holiday week in Japan :D. Please Splatoon 2, behave like a normal shooter and let the top to Minecraft.
19/10 is Friday, a simultaneous worldwide release isn't impossible. Maybe they will manage to rush Mario & Luigi 3 for this year too.
This pic is glorious. Sakura Taisen is one of my favorite series, and I own multiple copies of ST3. If I am able to find all of them in the wild, in such good condition, I don't know what I would do.
Splat 2 could be close to 50K for Obon week, guessing Switch hw is close to 80K.
Minecraft, MK8D, Taiko & Mario Tennis Aces should be the rest of the top 5 all around 30K or so.
Not a worldwide release after all. October 12th for NA. No idea about Japan...19/10 is Friday, a simultaneous worldwide release isn't impossible. Maybe they will manage to rush Mario & Luigi 3 for this year too.
September direct will happen with or without New Super Mario Bros. U. Jan-Mar schedule will be revealed there.
if it's before the end of year, it'd be a 3rd party port.I also expect (hope) for one more surprise for the end of the year to be introduced in this direct.
N64 Mini, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and maybe Labo 04 are everything Nintendo related that are rumoured for this year. From third parties there won't be any unknown important titles for Switch or PS4, we know their schedule until December.I also expect (hope) for one more surprise for the end of the year to be introduced in this direct.

Except Level 5 Japanese third parties have dropped the ball for holidays again. Yakuza 4 remaster, Tales of Vesperia remaster are supposed to be the big titles.

TGS/Direct should bring more info, there are suspiciously too few games in November.
I feel like Square Enix literally thinks the Octopath Traveler team is just a small Indie studio that makes cheap games, despite being disproven for the third time in a row now...
That I put Yakuza 4 in there shows how laughable the situation is. We know what's coming this year from third parties more or less, whatever is revealed at TGS won't be for 2018.What is your expectations for these games ?

I don't know---they still shipped 1m+ units across the globe. They had lower expectations but not as low.

Metroid Prime trilogy would be a good fit. Either Q3 or Q4, perhaps announces at the game awards with a prime 4 trailer like last year's Bayonetta revealsQ4 is perfect for HD remake as Metroid Trilogy or Zelda Skyward Sword.
I am agree with you , we need better Q4 than last year mostly when we compare with Q4 on others platforms.

I expect something hardcore focused at TGA again this year, so probably MP4 teaser + collection announcement for Q1 2019Metroid Prime trilogy would be a good fit. Either Q3 or Q4, perhaps announces at the game awards with a prime 4 trailer like last year's Bayonetta reveals
I don't think IE Ares will launch this year.
Level 5 willtry to make the possible to launch YW4 in December, even if this means delay everything else to finish it.
The only missing title I see is DQ Builders 2, but this could be delayed to and launched in January.
