well, I was 100% wrong on Yu-Gi-oh FW sales. Another Switch 3rd party 100k seller for this year- that makes 8. I still think it will have a very hard drop, but undeniably a good number.

Wow was Momotaro supply constrained or something?

EDIT: Forgot it was Obon last week.

What's the next Playstation game that has a crack at the top 10? Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut?

Having only 9k of your flagship console available during a major holiday week with no major software launch is NOT a good look.

But on the other hand Jim did put his money where his mouth is seeing as PS5 is tracking over PS4 by at least 150k. We'll see how long that gap lasts though.

Konami with the top 2 spots. What a return. And Yu-Gi-Oh seems to be still very popular.
And Momotaro with that 101% increase above all other evergreens.

Next week 250k for Skyward Sword!

Apparently eBaseball is getting an update that lets you add overseas players to your roster? So I'm guessing players that play in the MLB?

According to data from GameDataLibrary, Rush Duel Saikyou Battle Royale! is the Highest first week physical sales for a YGO game since Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards (GBA) in 2002.

Already outside the LTD of the last physical release; Zexal Duel World Carnival (like 86K LTD), and with digital it's hopefully close to if not past Tag Force 6 (122K LTD).

Also completely missed this from last week but the ads are doing work.

26./00. [NSW] Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun! <ACT> (Bandai Namco Entertainment) {2018.07.19} (¥6.100) - 2.620 / 613.725 <80-100%>
27./00. [NSW] Fishing Spirits: Nintendo Switch Version # <SPT> (Bandai Namco Entertainment) {2019.07.25} (¥5.700) - 2.577 / 604.827 <80-100%>

Hopefully they see good rises for this week.

The race to beat 2020 is over for 2021. But what's being missed it that in it's fifth year on the market, Switch will very likely exceed the 3DS's peak year for a second time in a row.

That's simply unprecedented for any system since the DS.

Nah, it was always gonna come down to Q4. Q4's lineup is much stronger this year than last year, that may be enough to make up for the deficit 2021 will be in at that point.

It's anybody's game.

Bold statement but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

Regardless of wether or not hardware drops below 2020, I think some people are letting the hardware story get in the way of the much more interesting reality that's setting in after last week only had Switch sw in the entire top 30. The platform is simply too dominant that even a drop in hardware sales won't change the reality of the situation in Japan.

That's a great result for Yu-Gi-Oh! Konami has been enjoying great success on Switch so far. It's also nice to see SSHD nearing 250k and other evergreens getting an Obon boost. Wish the Switch could've hit 100k this week but oh well.

Nice numbers. With just under 8 weeks to go from when Week 32 ended to the launch of Nintendo Switch (OLED Model), it'll be interesting to see where NS is at compared to its 2020 self come October 3rd.

The gap is narrowing, now with 2021 being just 51,000 over last year. But once the new model comes out, along with Metroid Dread, Shin Megami Tensei V, and Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, sales will be huge for the final three months of the year.

Whichever year wins, I don't think it'll be by a landslide. Definitely exciting!

Yeah I agree with you that the software situation is utterly astonishing. Whatever year is higher it doesn't matter, hardware sales are still quite high. But this level of software domination has just never really happened before.

If we get another Switch top 30 I wonder if Tbone will make another thread.

Hope so, I'm still only halfway through the other one and enjoying reading some of the comments there.

It's amazing how much speculation you get about Konami doing deals with Sony or Microsoft to get "back into the console games market" considering they never really left lol

Switch didnt have a good software lineup in last years Q4, but its hardware sales was nevertheless very good last christmas. So I doubt that Metroid Dread, SMT 5 and Pokemon BDSP + OLED Switch will be enough to exceed last years sales in japanese market.
