Is that Switch share the highest percentage a system has ever had for new software?

PS4 continues to show its true power at used market.

Vouchers could have positive effect power at limiting that market for Switch.

Somewhere. I think.

Vouchers could have positive effect power at limiting that market for Switch.

I don't think it's only the vouchers. The fact that BoTW is still selling as much as it is new, despite there being tons of used copies on the market (and vouchers at digital), shows a certain reluctance to buying used.

I guess there's also a sizeable portion of the Switch userbase is made of people not usually buying used games (parents/family). I mean, compared to the usual PS4 audience (young adults and the likes).

The kind of games selling on Switch also doesn't help with used sales (games you keep playing because of regular updates, etc.)).

How much do used Switch games sell for. If there aren't that much cheaper than new then that might have an impact. I'm sure used PS4 software depreciates quickly.

Could Konami become the best tp publisher on Switch next year if they stick with the baseball game and release the darn soccer one?

"But because of our long-standing relationship with Sony, I understand that it was difficult to release it on Switch then at the same time."

CyberConnect2 confirmed the obvious since it's known they are one of Sony's diehard supporters, some Japanese developers continue to remain very close to PlayStation even today.

It's actually ridiculous that they are still hesitating...

I'm sure finally bringing Katamari Damacy Reroll to both PS4 and XBO makes a lot more sense.

The question is whether Sony reciprocates lol

Yep they explicitely said it.

That's dumb as hell but at least it is honest and clear.

For a company that is constantly developing at least one first-party Nintendo game at a given time, it's odd that they continue to hesitate.

Last year:

Switch really shot up this year in terms of new software. Basically ate up everything that wasn't PS4.

Frankly, Katamari Damacy Reroll should have launched on PS4 but w/e

PS4 owners aren't fond of late ports
Neither are Switch owners in Japan, and with the overall cumulative plethora of games on the Switch, as time passes more and more Switch owners WW aren't either.

And the point of the post you quoted was that Bandai Namco are hesitant on whether a late Switch port is worth it, while they are not hesitant on late ports to PS4, despite knowing as you said that PS4 owners aren't fond of late ports.

In the sense that in general games should be available on as many viable platforms simultaneously sure but I'm not sure I'm a fan of the whole "franchise/game was originally on PS1/PS2 therefore it should be on PS4" school of logic.

I was thinking about Katamari being designed for level analog sticks on the Dualshock and feeling a bit off on Switch because of its different analog stick setup (at least in the demo I played, maybe you can adapt to it throughout the full game)

I like how jump Nintendo Ship to Sony is as easy as blink, while the opposite there is psychological fear of make Sony angry.
Sony and Japanese third parties have close relations for decades, since original PlayStation. Many of these developers that still feel loyal to them built their careers on on their systems, Nintendo is nowhere near that.

I know nintendo ran their business different back in the day but is there really no relationship between Nintendo and other 3rd parties as strong as sony?

On LinkedIn there are some 20-22 year experience (in sie itself) people working in Sony SIE pub/sales and pub marketing team and second and third party relationship team
This helps I this

well, at least bamco is honest about the reason, and isn't coming up with BS excuses.

You could ask AlphaDream or Skip Ltd.
that makes no sense, as far as this conversation goes.

nintendo seems to have really close relationships with square enix and tecmo koei these days.

That's slightly fairer but still such a minor thing.

They're also really close with Marvelous, GungHo, Imagineer, and Level-5 (although they aren't 100% exclusive, they've historically developed for Nintendo systems and are primarily associated with them).

yeah. to argue nintendo doesn't have good relationships with 3rd parties (and bring skip and alphadream as examples, lmao) makes no sense. there's basically only a handful of japanese companies who are still stuck with their old concept of "loyalty", the rest know what's up and have moved on.

I bet Harada's nightmares involve any of his games making its way to Nintendo Switch and he desperately attempting to prevent it from being released.

Not really anymore given they tried to jump ship and then swam back.

Although there was an attempt to branch out to mobile and PS4, I don't think they ever fully attempted to jump Nintendo's ship as they have already released several titles for the Switch and have several more in the pipeline. I don't think they've gone one year in the last decade without releasing at least one game on a Nintendo system, which is notable.

And more often than not they were exclusive titles, until recently.

While true the glaring issue is they didn't release a single switch game for over a year after launch and didn't have a "new" release until 2019 with Yokai watch 4.
