Regardless of the actual outcome in the present case, I do agree everything is possible theoretically, but the circumstances were very, very different. It was certainly not the way you present it ("everyone thought he was working on MH Vita"), unless by "everyone" you mean only Vita fans (no insiders for example).
Yeah, with that it was just people saying "of course MH is transitioning from PSP to Vita", while the current speculation is based on insiders and Capcom's own words.
Unless it is declared outright as multi platform (which is very possible), you will have lots of "no way it will not be also on ....".
But I prefer counting my chickens after they hatch, I think the MC thread is not the right place for this type of discussion as it's a sales thread, not a speculation thread (though I did participate in it, can't help it...)

it's easy to see why people is doubtful
- It's Capcom on Switch
- They found their best commercial success EVER focusing on that audience
- It's 2020 and this year surely didn't inflate that much reassurance into Switch owners/Switch software output and support
- It is talked since the forever
of course, I can see also why tons of people believe in its existence
- Capcom asked for hardware implementation on the Switch
- Denied the possibility of a MH World conversion for Switch but pointed at dedicated MH project for the console (June 2018)
- Investigated RE Engine implementation on the console (March 20, 2017)
- Recently pointed to a different audience to be reached by MH (the high school one that play it primarly in Japan and portable)
- Insiders have pointed at it (at least three different insiders here on ERA I think)
- Switch is the hottest console in Japan and ww in this very moment so it would make tons of money to have a MH on the system
So basically, we'll see.

I feel like franchises like Dragon Ball Heroes and Sumikko Gurashi, which were 250-300k and 150-200k sellers on 3DS respectively, are still constrained by the higher average age of Switch adopters with respect to 3DS. While they had sold good overall, they didn't enjoy the same growth as other franchises meaning that kids have yet to jump on board full time on Switch... If that so, Switch will keep selling well over the next 3 years.
These sales bode well for Rune Factory 5.

As I wrote in the previous thread, a 100k+ debut was difficult to achieve at retail. FFXII did slightly less than 100k FW on PS4 and Crystal Chronicles doesn't have a very strong legacy after all.
Correct. It's basically book-ending the whole series up to this point until they start in the "second half" with the next game. Which doesn't excuse its further decline, but is I suppose a factor in it (Falcom put a lot of work in letting people know that Cold Steel I was a good place for beginners, hence the series-high sales).
We'll still see Vita games in the Media Create top 1000 for 2020, but this is the last time any of them will reach the top 100. Actually forgot about Pro Yakyuu 2019, I assumed the selection from 2018 (Jikkyou/Fate/Super Robot Wars X) would've been the last.

I did not expect the leaks for these titles this soon, it is good no one has edited his or her predictions after knowing how Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition and The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki have debuted. Also I see there are no new predictions past the time the leaks were posted.

I've seen speculation that YW4 led on PS4 due to it sharing the same engine as NNK2 and having performance issues on Switch. It wouldn't surprise me really.

well, this was a first step towards finding a new audience. i'm sure YW5 will do much better.
If hypothetically speaking this has cost them Nintendo to cooperate with bringing the game to the West when they still had kids interested in the franchise in the West, it has been a monumental mistake.
Damn, it's crazy how much YW has fallen. Didn't really help that 4 was a mess to begin with.
at one point it was massive. 2 sold like 5+ million among its 3 versions. just cuz level-5 messed the IP up doesn't mean it wasn't serious competition for pokemon in japan at one point.

I've lost track of the number of times "verified" rumors from "insiders" have been incorrect in their scope, timing, or content. A Monster Hunter game may be coming to the Switch, but it might not be out until 2022, or it's a card battler, or a musou game, or a remake of Generations, or a chibi version of MHW. Sure, the person ended up being correct, but they've missed so many critical details that most people following the rumor have been misled in their expectations.
In short, I'm going to wait to see an announcement from Capcom before I start speculating about potential sales and hype. Who know what we're going to get (if anything) and when we'll actually see it.
