I meant the release date being revealed in the e3 direct. "Available....December 7!" like that's supposed to be a good date/sooner than expected
eh, it's just showing a release date for a big game.
I don't think it was implying anything.

plus I feel like Sakurai trailers and presentations always do that for whatever. It'll say "something......Something!". Not that he cuts his own presentations, but they always have that style. Or a lot of trolling.

I wonder how the Arland trilogy will do, I waited too long to order it so now it is super expensive. Did KT just make very few, or did it actually sell 'well'.

My issue is that the Switch versions actually have worse textures than the PS3 versions. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the Vita versions' textures. Also Rorona on Switch lacks shadows during battles, and it and Meruru are missing the battle transitions.

It feels like they botched--up the Switch versions. I hope they patch them and soon

By year 2 mistakes, I assume they mean Nintendo could've done more to sell more.
Year 1 was limited by supply, year 2 is limited by demand. It's of course still doing well enough, but not taking advantage of strong momentum with publishers still needing convincing seems bad.
No price drop or proper bundles slated for the holidays either.
Why do you keep touting the line that a price drop is needed? Why do you keep touting the line that momentum is beeing lost (when sales are up YOY so far in the second quarter in NA, flat in Japan (due to the Splatoon 2 effect last year) and that summer was very successfull in Europe this year (and thus Switch is likely up YOY in the second quarter worldwide)

Sony dropped the PS4's price in its third holiday

You're claiming Nintendo (which is a price drop averse company) to drop it 18 months after release

Your stance (that you keep repeating every single week despite everything that's beeing discussed here) litteraly makes no sense when the two biggest possible franchises bar for Animal Crossing are releasing back to back, 3 weeks apart.

Wait, really? I was saving for a hypothetical localization of the trilogy, but that sounds terrible.

Given that the games include the addition content from the Vita versions they probably just took those and bumped the resolution up.

Not really, I looked at PS4 footage and textures are far better, better than the PS3 versions.

My theory is that they wanted to fit the games on an 8GB cart. All are in the 6GB range IIRC.

Wow, I totally missed the TGS news that Kingdom Come: Deliverance is coming to Japan in Spring 2019. Published by DMM Games for PC and PS4.
https://www.famitsu.com/news/201809/22164632.html

I think this game could do pretty well, around the 100k mark. Here's what similar games did in Japan (MC CY data):

218./043. [PS4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt <RPG> (Spike Chunsoft) {2015.05.21} (¥8.200) - 22.819 / 188.591 (-86%) (67.385 <91,97%>)
125./147. [PS4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition <The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt \ The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone \ The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine> <RPG> (Spike Chunsoft) {2016.09.01} (¥6.480) - 40.223 / 88.062 (-16%) (11.948 <67,82%>)
Total LTD [PS4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - 276.653

748./144. [PS4] Fallout 4 # <RPG> (Bethesda Softworks) {2015.12.17} (¥7.980) - 1.851 / 228.897 (-96%) (123.018 <72,40%>)
233./000. [PS4] Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition <Fallout 4 \ Fallout 4: Wasteland Workshop \ Fallout 4: Far Harbor \ Fallout 4: Automatron \ Fallout 4: Contraptions Workshop \ Fallout 4: Vault-Tec Workshop \ Fallout 4: Nuka-World> <RPG> (Bethesda Softworks) {2017.09.28} (¥5.980) - 18.152 / NEW (6.507 <65,51%>)
631./000. [PS4] Fallout 4 [New Price Edition] <RPG> (Bethesda Softworks) {2017.09.28} (¥2.800) - 2.817 / NEW (854 <53,95%>)
Total LTD [PS4] Fallout 4 - 249.866

140./130. [PS4] The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition <The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim \ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard \ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire \ The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dragonborn> <RPG> (Bethesda Softworks) {2016.11.10} (¥5.980) - 32.535 / 86.952 (-40%) (27.330 <35,30%>)
Total LTD [PS4] The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition - 86.952

018./000. [PS4] Horizon Zero Dawn # <RPG> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2017.03.02} (¥6.900) - 228.772 / NEW (116.997 <92,21%>)
229./000. [PS4] Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition <Horizon Zero Dawn \ Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds> <RPG> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2017.12.07} (¥5.900) - 18.302 / NEW (7.309 <46,72%>)
Total LTD [PS4] Horizon Zero Dawn - 247.074

052./000. [PS4] Ark: Survival Evolved <ADV> (Spike Chunsoft) {2017.10.26} (¥6.800) - 129.989 / NEW (70.177 <80,87%>)
Total LTD [PS4] Ark: Survival Evolved - 129.989

09./08. [PS4] Conan Exiles <ACT> (Spike Chunsoft) {2018.08.23} (¥6.800) - 8.528 / 68.757 (+12%)
Current LTD [PS4] Conan Exiles - 68.757 and growing

Of course Kingdom Come is closer in terms of budget and scope to Ark and Conan Exiles than The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4, but combining these sales numbers, it shows that there's a pretty big audience for western RPGs on PS4 in Japan, and even for 'lower-budget' (cough) experiences. Games like Far Cry have been growing immensely over the generation as well. This trend, as well as the effort they seem to put into the localisation with full Japanese voice acting and such, makes me very confident that Kingdom Come: Deliverance can become a nice seller for PS4. 100k should be a lock.

Not sure if already posted... Famitsu digital sales estimates for August (Jul. 26 to Augst. 30):

PS4 Mafia III - 91,725
PS4 Dead by Daylight Special Edition - 28,326
Switch Minecraft - 24,098
PS4 Border Break: Starter Pack - 22,295
Switch - Overcooked 2: 19, 040

http://ryokutya2089.com/archives/14203

Minecraft was north of 90k for retail at Famitsu, so that would make around <30% of additional digital sales.

Sony dropped the PS4's price in its third holiday

I mentioned price drop *or* bundles. (As in a game bundled in with not additional cost)

PS4 might have been on it's third holiday, but it was under 2 years.
PS4 was bundled with a game since January 2015, a year and two months.

Sure, smash is going to be huge and Pokémon is a wild card, but it feels like not enough for a console that was pretty expensive since launch and with Nintendo online it's even more expensive.

Guess we'll see if I'm right if they don't meet their sales goal, just not exactly sure when else one would drop the price if not for the holidays. Maybe NSMBU will be bundled in January, tho bundling in a game named after another console is weird.

3DS, while a different case, got a price drop and a revision despite launching at a lower price.
They run the risk of Sony or MS undercutting them with price this holiday.

Nintendo is probably content with the current price of the Switch even if they don't sell 20 million units, especially with how SW seems to be moving. I think a price drop next year would make sense though.

The PS4 UC4 bundle was a price increase (masqueraded as game+1tb drive)

Come back with a price drop when the Switch hits its 3rd holiday season and you'll have a point.
