For reference:

Monster Hunter 4 opened at 1.875.115 in 2013. 3DS sold 276.792 units that week on a 12.3m installed base. It sold 159.388 units the following week. Estimated digital sales (first months) were 225.324 units (game was also supply constrained).

Therefore: very good opening for Monster Hunter World. Not-so-great effect hardware-wise. Considering the bundle released in December, which sold around 30.000 units, Monster Hunter effect pushes PS4 towards 170.000 units on a 6m installed base. Given the opening, one could have expected a bit more on the hardware side.

MHW, of course, is going to be the huge news - small dropoff in Japan, but very easily compensated for by the Western performance. I am curious if it's managing to reach a different audience in Japan as a result of the change, as well.

Splatoon 2 might make it to 2M next week, definitely will the week after.

M+R going to cruise past 100k, it's a solid start.

Switch production creeping up a little, although it could just be arbitrary fluctuations. Getting 50k a week onto shelves would be a good goal for the short term.

So there it goes my prediction for 885k MHW and 85k PS4. I'm happy for the success of the game, apart from hating Sony. I'm only sad because the PC version got delayed.
Also, I'm surprised that Switch got up.
