I can see how it's the more appealing version for the generalist, but I expect once Pokémon and Animal Crossing hit, as well as the holidays since it's cheaper and more giftable, the lite will pull some pretty big numbers.

81% for DQXIS is a big drop but the VAT increase probably exacerbated it.

Looks like the Lite is the lesser of the two Switch models but importantly seems to be purely additive.

Falcom games having legs? Uh not really. Unless selling 50-60% during launch week is considered having legs?

Both Ys8 releases combined did about 90k and they ended up selling 145k total. Those are « standard » legs for jRPGs in Japan

Super sales for PS4, almost the same as last year even with the VAT/Tax increase!

Seriously though, big drops everywhere as expected. The next couple of weeks should be the quiet before the storm.

Flagship model outselling the lite. As planned; and it pleases me very much because I really want the Switch to remain an hybrid rather than "just another" Nintendo handheld.
Still, very strong showing by Nintendo.

The lite being additive also means that it isn't really being picked up instead of the hybrid model. It's too early to tell, but the baseline might end up being 80k or more next year.

Obviously things are down mostly cause we're a couple weeks past Switch Lite launch and DQ XI debut hardware boost last week. Things should normalize soon. Switch Lite gets outsold again by base model though. Interesting. Maybe cause they're waiting for Holidays?

So, assuming the Lite is purely additive, the OG being at 50K seems pretty good for no major releases, VAT, and that it was hovering around 40K earlier in the year. Dragon Quest still helping to push hardware, or are the holiday effects already beginning?

Pretty average week all around. Hopefully switch sales don't keep dropping too far.

Now we wait and see what prolonged impact the switch lite has. I think it will perform great over the holidays, not sure after that. Can't help but think a slightly cheaper original model (even $250) would perform much better.

Really curious what strategy Nintendo uses going forward.

Of course. The lite is beneficial for Nintendo overall. But my original point is that the public who wasn't interested in the Switch as an hybrid, but just as a cheap mobile console, is less than many people thought. I remember that many here expected the lite to be almost on par with the flagship model in terms of sales, and I disagree.
There are people who will buy a lite, but in my opinion, it won't be more than 20-30% of new Switch buyers in Japan; and probably lower than that worldwide. It'll be proportionally less than what the 2DS family was to the 3DS (in terms of new buyers).

Same for DQ, that decline seems nomal for the type of game, but I was hoping for a slight better percentage.

Pretty rough drops, even if expected. Interesting the OG outsold the Lite again, although it's encouraging that even on it's own the OG is slightly up YoY.
