they shipped 150K units (digital and physical), so I doubt stock is an issue
Stock was an issue last week. There was an additional shipment on Monday but digital share was probably already big.

Weird from you to say that the franchise isn't saved when Atelier Ryza is the most successful launch for the franchise, more than doubling the precedent entry.

Ys IX having less than 8.507 sales this week from 45.378 last week means it had, at least, a 81% drop.
Ys VIII on Vita had a 80% drop, and Ys VIII on PS4 1 year later 69%

01./00. [PS4] Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands <ACT> (Ubisoft) {2017.03.09} (¥8.400) - 94.017 / NEW <80-100%>
02./00. [PS4] Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint # <ACT> (Ubisoft) {2019.10.04} (¥8.400) - 54.733 / NEW

Ghost Recon follows the trend of western games selling less than their predecessor

A few weeks in and it seems like the Switch Lite is not cutting into the sales of the OG Switch. The OG Switch sold ~5k more than it did last year, and the Lite added nearly 40k more on top of that.

While the Lite may not be selling as well as some had hoped, I think it's a great sign for Nintendo that it seems that the Lite sales are in addition to the OG Switch and not replacing any of those sales.

Since VAT already increased and as Nov 1 draws closer, I'm imagining anyone who likes the Pokemon Lite more will easily hold out for it, cannibalizing Lite's sales for October.

PS4 is waiting for December deals now that bundles ran out of stock.

Call of Duty will be big again but maybe it will see a decline comparing to last year.

Switch sold 440k in two weeks. Selling 90k after that seems pretty good. Lite is adding 40k units to the baseline which is pretty good but its strength will be during holidays.

Next week will be interesting to determine whether the VAT increase will have a durable effect or if it just moved sales for this week to the previous one.

Lite will maintain a big share of total Switch sales at normal weeks but don't be surprised if it outsells OG model 2:1 in holidays.

Switch should hit 10 Million by the end of October.
Might outsell PS3 LTD by Pokemon SW/SH Launch.
Should pass PS2 launch aligned before the end of the year.
Should pass Wii early next year.

After Wii at 12.75M, the next consoles Switch could surpass won't be until next year's holiday season in Japan, that being the ~17M selling GBA and SNES platforms.

It's crazy how the Lite alone has almost the same amount of sales as the entirity of Switch's sales for this week last year. Effectively doubling the amount of Switch sales compared to last year. Awesome!

Also, I expected Dragon Quest to have a bit of a smaller drop. Something more like 70%. But really given that a 75%+ drop is standard for JRPGs, given that there's a tax increase, and maybe even given that it's a game many people already have played before ... I should have expected a drop more in line with this.

I stand by my comment. I didn't expect a steep drop given the announcement of the success of the game, even taking the tax into account. If there's stock issues, then that's another thing.

All games have bigger drops than usual. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 85%+ drop for this game.

The VAT increase won't affect the sales for too long. Probably 2 or 3 weeks max, and less and less every following week. People will accept it and move on.

That's actually great for Breakpoint. It will be down way more than that in the west relative to Wildlands.

Just saw the japanese boxart of the new DQX expansion (Switch version currently charting at #53 on amazon.co.jp). God, I really want Square to release an offline version in the west...

If sell-through for Breakpoint is bad price drops will be immediate.

Good result for Switch.

Thanks to the PS5 news I expect PS4 Pro sales to take a nosedive. They should have announced the release period in conjunction with a price drop.

This was sort of a bad year for 3rd party physical sales across the board. The year mainline Yokai Watch collapsed. The year mainline Kingdom Hearts failed to reach a million. The best selling third parties of the holiday will likely be enhanced ports, expansions or Minecraft.

In a tough overall week for the Japanese gaming industry with a VAT increase the Sony PlayStation 4™ still succeed above all others, only dropping 50%, the best of any system on the market. It also outsold it's current generation rivals, the 3DS by a whopping ten times and the XBONE by an unbelievable one thousand times! In another trendsetting move it has four games in the top ten weekly sales, a feat unrivaled by all other home console units which combined had zero games in the top ten! The march towards year over year dominance over the previous market leader, the Sony PlayStation 3™ is progressing smoothly.
