Very impressive numbers for COD.

When will we get a titke that will move the Switch ? Do we have to wait for Pokemon Let's Go ?

My point is that it's hard to find worldwide numbers from that era (before the wii and DS), even less updated past a certain point.
It's perfectly reasonable to think it was close to a million seller at the last official update (feel free to say when) and got past that later on.
It is difficult for a GameCube title to increase sales after December 2014 we had the update.

FYI CoD Blops IIII is the only other PS4 game to debut at higher than 200k sales this year.

That makes 3 games for the whole year (MH, Kirby and CoD). Release wise this year have been one of the calmest/more unbalanced since a long time (despite games like Pokemon, Smash and DQB2 coming soon).

Next year already has more 200k+ openers announced. (KH3, RER2 (?), YW4, DQXIS, AC, FE, LM, Pokemon...)

I don't think we'll see any significant bumps before then. The question is if we'll see an uptick in the weeks leading up to Pokémon. With the smash and Pokémon bundles both releasing on the 16th I think a lot of people would hold off until then leading to a huge spike.

Retailers will have big problem with Mega Man 11 unsold copies. Second week and it disappeared from charts.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey looks it won't have problem to sell the initial shipment.

Suggestion: what do you think about adding the total of both FY at the end of that graph ?

Certainly not that much. The first game launched at 66k on PS3 and only GTAV managed to launch sligthy above 300k.

Its just, and a off a no informed/local person, but the numbers is European countries will be massive. RDR was always on of most anticipated games in the last years and the first new game from Rockstar this generation, if COD can put this numbers a stay on my 300K bet. But you are more informed than I, so I can be betting on the wrong horse.

You mean third right? MHW and CoD Blops IIII is already first and second.

Yes Third, i misread the post I replied.

I wonder how did MM11 end up overshipping when Mega Man hasn't been big in japan since the GBA days (maybe longer?)

It will surely be a big release and will open at a higher number than the first one, that's for sure. That said the enthusiasm seen in western countries doesn't seem to be comparable to what we're seeing with japanese preorders.

Assuming it has a good word of mouth, it should be able to reach 300k LTD, but I don't see it opening at significantly more than 120-150k.

If you care for first week comparisons, hype (and preorders) for Red Dead Redemption 2 don't touch Black Ops 4.

It will debut at that? About 5 times what the first one debuted at? We got a lot of gun/military otaku here, no so many cowboy otaku.

What was the best selling Spider-Man before Spider-Man PS4? Not saying they're comparable but you can see big growth from game to game.

Judging by the preorders I'd say it's more likely the game only sees modest growth.

I was definitely wrong about Spidey, which is looking to do about twice what I thought it would do. Anything could happen, but I'm doubting a big boom in interest in cowboys in the next few weeks. I think it will see some growth as well, but 300k opening is a bit beyond what I am able to imagine.

I hope the digital sales of Mega Man 11 are better and specially the sales in NA, that's the territory where Mega Man does better outside the Battle Network games. Physical sales in Japan are a total bomba even for a small game like this.

Kokatu: In Japan, Rockstar Is All In For Red Dead Redemption 2

Dont know when it started but this last week can generate some hype.

I guess the difference is that Spider-Man was fairly popular in Japan already that just hadn't translated to games yet. I agree that despite the increased marketing push I can't see a bump anywhere near that size for RDR2.

If Red Dead online hits big like GTA Online RDR2 could have pretty great legs though even if it doesn't have that massive first week.

The PS4 did create a western AAA otaku fanbase which seems to get all big releases tho. But yeah, I don't think it will be as big as people think here.

If Rockstar focus the publicity on the Fishing from RDR maybe they will have more return that from the Western thing. All JRPGs have fishing, so it could be a good idea. :D

25k - with the combination of relative big game release and pricecut for Pro, is a weak result. Maybe they should have had cut the price for both, Slim and Pro.

Starting to believe we'll have two Pokémon games in the Top 20 when Let's Go comes out. Would be the first time ever since the original games, I believe? Not counting spin-offs, obviously.

When Pokemon Gold/Silver launched Pokemon Red/Green/Blue made it to the top 20 (at 15th).

Pro price cut was just about bringing the price point difference between Slim and Pro to similar level to the west (so 10k yen, $100, 100€ difference between the two models in all regions). Pro was overpriced compared to Slim before this in Japan (15k yen difference). As there have been no indications for general global Pro price cut or Slim price cut I don't think it was in the cards.
