The ban was very much justified. Kerotan made it sound like he was using the high death toll as an explanation on sales performance like it was nothing. Like HELLO!? Who the fuck cares? People fucking died and you're just throwing that in there as a cliff note? That was horrifically tasteless if nothing else.

It was justified. Very poor form.
If it was an average poster it would be somewhat believable that it was just poorly worded, but given his history and prior infractions it really stretched belief.

I mean it could have been people giving him crap for only mentioning Sony systems, so he tries out mentioning the Switch.
He called out only Switch sales as 'bad and way below expectations' (slyly using the passive 'some of you think')...

...yet PS4 sold 1/7 of Switch this week, had a larger week on week percentage decline than Switch, and a collapse from the same period last year vs Switch having actually increased.

It would have been okay to describe everything as down and put perspective on that versus the loss of life (which many did earlier in the thread, but less flippantly). But he basically used an actual human tragedy as cover for trolling. Really exposed as a troll account by this, not just an overly excited Sony fan.

I remember posters here expecting the baseline for Switch sales to be 80k+ every week after Switch Lite released, so I honestly think he was referring to that, not trolling.

A lot of people already knew the lead into October as well as the typhoon were gonna slow console sales regardless since the last thread. No one in the thread was specifically talking down Switch sales up to that point or even mentioning it being below their expectations (outside of OG to Lite ratio). And guess what, up until the typhoon it was doing exactly that, hitting above 80k weekly. The context was already abundantly clear and understandable.

[NSW] Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town <SLG> (Marvelous) (¥5.800) - 60%

Story of Seasons was a 250k+ seller on 3DS. Friends of Mineral Town won't reach the same sales and now I wonder why Marvelous chose to develop a remake instead of a new game 2+ years into the console lifecycle. I can understand during the first year as a way to set the stage to the franchise and get used to developing on Switch but now it's a bit weird. I do hope there'll be a new Story of Seasons, maybe next year.

It depends how much overlap there is with the Rune Factory team. SoS is the bigger franchise so it might be that they did FoMT in order to justify developing a new RF first.

Obakeidoro was a pretty weird game, but it reminded me of a specific 3DS game aesthetically that I can't remember about anymore. Can't imagine it selling much in December, but I'll assume their overhead ain't large at all for it.

Free Style have announced that Obakeidoro has sold 40 000 units. Also available in EU/NA, but no idea if that number includes sales from those regions.

Also, game is getting a retail release on December 19th, 2 980 Yen + taxes.

For reference, this is how Obakeidoro performed on the Japanese Switch eShop, via Nintendo's weekly rankings

August 1st - August 7th: 3rd
August 8th - August 14th: no report
August 15th - August 21s: 2nd
August 22nd - August 28th: 3rd
August 29th - September 4th: 5th
September 5th - September 11th: 13th
September 12th - September 18th: 17th
Since the week from September 19th, 2019 to September 25th, 2019, the game has stopped appearing in Top 20s

Also, the game debuted at 4th in the Japanese eShop monthly ranking for August, while it was out of September's Top 20.

Finally, I believe the game was not available for pre-load before its launch.

One of the developers of the remake did an interview with a Chinese gaming site mainly about the remake and confirmed that a new game is in development:

It might be the working title on the Hakama website that has no picture listed:

So... this Atlus choice makes no sense and nobody asked for it ?

Are they saving money by just taking the last version and port that for everyone instead of keeping both.

And who even asked for the previous censoreship on Wii U anyway ?

#Atlus ?

Another update to the Inafune stream:

Man... I wanna be hopeful for this, but Inafune and Level 5 are like a combo-train wreck just waiting to make things worse. The fact the entire game was re-designed on the art aspects, the world re-done, and focus on eSports, just doesn't... give me a lot of confidence...

EDIT: New website is now out, along with a new PV:

Judging from what it looks like, game is mostly the same, with new options and stuff, just new story, designs, etc., and focus on eSports sounds like, so... Eh.

An unappealing game in the past will remain an unappealing game in the future. System change won't make miracles.
No RPG audience on the WiiU + very late release on the WiiU was two big reasons for its sales performance too.

I am sure it will sell significantly more while staying a minor release (something like 500k+ worldwide).

60% first day sell-through for Story of Seasons can mean stock problems for the weekend if there isn't a new shipment soon.

Edit: Also, the blog is reporting a good start for Ring Fit Adventure. No sell-through because it's a Friday release.

But why ?
Nintendo seems more and more open with the Switch and there was nothing from the original game that was problematic.
I played the japanese version, what in the world was problematic in the first place ?

I mean, if we go by people's the problem was the entire theme, not details that would have to be removed/modified.

Maybe I'm too pure or something and missed some horrible stuff that absolutely HAS to be scrapped ?

Oh well, I wasn't interested in double dipping, but it still doesn't feel right.
If they did that to Xenoblade DE or a rem of X, I'd probably be severely pissed and not buying too depending on how "based on the western game" it would be.

Shocked that the Lite isn't the model of choice for Japan. It seems, like others have mentioned, that it is purely an additive system. Now the dynamic may change eventually but I am less confidant that it will happen every week. If it does not shift with Pokemon then the OG Switch may continue to be the dominate SKU throughout the life cycle of the console.

50% first day sell through for The Witcher 3 has to be pretty good, right? Any idea what kind of performance we're looking at?

I have my own assumptions, and they're based on the lack of idol culture in the west and things involving people under 18 years old and selling pictures of said persons in various outfits being seen as creepy.

but besides that, I don't think nintendo cares about people who're upset about the changes. they aren't a demographic Nintendo has ever catered to themselves (or with their funded games). we can bring up Xenoblade, but when has that stuff ever been in the ads for the game? and when have they ever reflected a real-world culture? Nintendo seems to think this game can get by on its own merits, much like Xenoblade X did (cause that was changed too and it didn't affect anything). but this game was doomed the moment they rerevealed it. it's just not what people want, and no amount of lack of censorship is gonna change that. it'll make some folks happy, but as I said in another thread, Nintendo is more than happy to throw those folks away

Ah, thanks for that! Was hoping we'd get a comment like we did for Astral Chain.

The good thing about LM3 is that it comes out on a Thursday for once, which means Day 1 sell-through for it, yay. And a great game to have Day 1 sell-through for, too.

Yes, I say that before the inevitable overreaction (positive or negative) about the sell-through :P

Yeah, what "affected" X was the bad localisation, not censorship, thats true.

Thats the thing. Since nobody wants it, whycturn your back on potential fanbase, however mall it might be...

They should have retitled it :
Washington Mirage Session : A Phoenix Wright city.

I legit wonder how big Story of Seasons' first shipment is, considering the first week shipments received by the 3DS main entries.

Media Create

[3DS] Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin <SLG> (Marvelous AQL) {2012.02.23} (¥5.040) - 81.131 / NEW <74,23%> --> 109.297 for its first shipment

[3DS] Harvest Moon: Linking The New World <SLG> (Marvelous AQL) {2014.02.27} (¥5.040) - 130.782 / NEW <73,07%> --> 178.982 for its first shipment

[3DS] Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns <SLG> (Marvelous) {2016.06.23} (¥4.980) - 100.319 / NEW <61,29%> --> 163.679 for its first shipment.

Now, I doubt Friends of Mineral Town received a shipment as large as what both Linking the New World and Trio of Towns witnessed, but I doubt it was that small either. I assume the ceiling is around / slightly more than what The Land of Origin got, thus around 100,000 copies to retailers. Which then would translate to 60,000 copies sold in its first day, which would be above the expectations.

But I can see it being smaller as well. I'm really unsure what's the case here.

I never seen anyone disparage Xenoblade X for the localization outside of a small group on the internet.

as for the potential TMS base, they'd turn their back on them because they're small. the people who'll not buy the game because of the changes are not the people nintendo wants nor do they see them as worth courting.

What was initial shipment of the Doraemon SoS game from earlier this year? Maybe that'd be a decent comparison.

I was pretty shocked at that Anthem price lmao. Like, that's usually the cost of very old, second hand, or "junk" products. Not something like Anthem lol.

What was initial shipment of the Doraemon SoS game from earlier this year? Maybe that'd be a decent comparison.

First day sell-through for Doraemon: Story of Seasons was 40%, while this was the situation for the whole first week

01./00. [NSW] Doraemon: Story of Seasons <SLG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2019.06.13} (¥6.100) - 42.230 / NEW <60-80%> --> between 70.383 to 105.575.

Dengeki reported around 70% for the game, with 45.388 copies sold, thus around 64.840 copies shipped to retailers.

Given what Chris said and the fact this is an actual SoS game published and distributed by Marvelous (Namco was Doraemon's publisher), probably something between 65.000 and 90.000 copies shipped is more realistic for the game. Also, 50.000 - 70.000 copies sold should be reasonable for its first week.
