They key word here being "at the turn of the year"

In other words: they're talking about already announced games (Mario + Luigi, Kirby, maybe Yo-kai Watch too).

That doesn't mean that nothing is coming later on. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a couple more ports, another extension to the Nintendo Selects range and a hardware price drop before they're done with it.

Spiderman has Japanese dub, I think CoD BO4 also. But RDR2 has voices only in English.
Could this be a reason why the game is not performing like in the West?

Nobody said this. But the thing in the slide is ONLY talking about these games.

Of course they're only talking about those games. They're not going to announce new games here.

Doesn't mean that they wont announce more later. There's still 2 more Yokai Watch games that they could theoretically localise, as well as The Snack World (Though I reckon Nintendo will pass on it, it is a potential option). Add on a couple more cheap ports, a few final bits of support from Atlus, a hardware price drop and an expanded Nintendo Selects lineup and you've got enough content for one final year.

So I don't get why people are saying that Nintendo are saying that they're done with the 3DS here? There's nothing here that indicates that :p

That much is obvious (not that it'll have much effect on that thread which might as well be a room full of bots repeating old posts).
I wouldn't be surprised to see more ports trickle out post Kirby though, at least until they start bringing out new forms of Switch.

I think as long as the 3DS continues to sell Nintendo will continue to support it. They want to be able to make these statements about releasing new games so that people will continue to buy the hardware. But I do not expect any higher budget games. It'll be all ports and very low budget games.

But it's not selling. It's selling Wii U levels.

They weren't. Only in the US. Worldwide it was down in 2017 compared to 2016. This year is definitely way worse than last year, with a drop of about 60% so far and no Pokémon to pick up the slack.
Oh you're right. Only in the US. And I'm spouting this in a Japan thread. Doh!

I really expected a Pokken sequel to have been announced by now. There's still a chance in 2019, but I'm coming close to giving up on the idea

How I imagine TPC and Game Freak looking at a million selling Pokémon spinoff, trying to determine whether they should make a sequel:

there's a lot about Pokemon that could be built upon. TPC should be more experimental. with games gonna take longer to make (do we really want Game Freak to "Call of Duty" the series?), these games can fill the gaps more readily

The sequel bombed hard iirc.

But that released incredibly late, after the GBA launched even! It was never going to sell like the original!

There is so much missed potential that it's painful! They could've tied it into the real TCG along the way even! With TCG games powered by the e-reader, AR Cards and Amiibo cards! So much lost potential over the years!

Because the console market is fucking dead in Japan.
This has nothing to do with the console market.

Pokken and Arms on Switch are both at 280k and 450k respectively

It has everything to do with lack of appeal for Japanese gamers

I mean Smash will probably move close to 2 million units this december alone

Right, I made my statement fully aware of those numbers. But if you look at sales for more traditional fighters this gen you're just seeing huge drops after huge drops.

If you're asking about SCVI looks at sales for SFV, Tekken 7, BBCTB, etc... They're all abysmal in Japan. Thankfully it's an irrelevant market for those games and globally much more relevant to success.

Yet Pokken is more akin to a Tekken reskin than anything but resonnates with japanese players

Fighting games aren't the issue, appeal is.

I mean I have purchased all those games (sf5, t7, sc6) but I also understand why they don't really resonate

I assure you Pokken is nothing close to Tekken. It's more like the Naruto fighters than anything. Another game that sells based on its IP coincidentally.

Where in Japan is a traditional fighter doing great? SCVI is doing what every established fighter in the past is doing.
