Hmm... wasn't expecting Switch sales to go up this week, guess Smash and Pokémon hype is stronger than I expected (was expecting most people to just wait for the bundles on November 16th).

Also in 3 weeks Mario Kart will outsell Mario Odyssey

And if from now on Mario Kart keeps outselling Splatoon 2 it has a shot in a few years to catch up to it

Super Mario Party crossing 300k and Minecraft at 350k. Interesting to see where those numbers will be after the holidays.

Nice to finally see some increase from those evergreens. Even Kirby and Taiko are rising (and Spiderman!). Hopefully the worst of the year is behind us.

Also those Super Mario Party drops are really good right? Just before the holidays too.

Like I said in the other thread, Splatoon is loosing steam as compared to last year, and despite the Octo-expansion releasing a few months ago. It's totally understandable and the game can still be qualified as an evergreen; but its green is slowly fading. It'll still make good numbers during the holidays and will most likely hang around the top 20 for a good chunk of 2019, but a decreasingly smaller proportion of the 40-50k new Switch buyers each month purchase the game and with the content updates stopping next month, I doubt this trend will be reversed. My bet is on a spin-off in 2019, a sequel in 2020, or possibly both. My hope is that they announce 1 or 2 more years of support for the current game and focus on making something different than Splatoon.

I didn't realize the Switch's YTD sales this year had dipped behind part year's YTD. I guess last year around this time Odyssey dropped, and Nintendo's two big 2018 games haven't dropped yet.

It'll be interesting to see where those numbers are in a few weeks.

There will be more content for Splatoon 2 (and MK8, and MO, and so on)

Nintendo is going down the "let's keep churning out content to keep sales high" road Ubi soft and others have been taking.

It'll still make good numbers during the holidays and will most likely hang around the top 20 for a good chunk of 2019, but a decreasingly smaller proportion of the 40-50k new Switch buyers each month purchase the game and with the content updates stopping next month, I doubt this trend will be reversed. My bet is on a spin-off in 2019, a sequel in 2020, or possibly both. My hope is that they announce 1 or 2 more years of support for the current game and focus on making something different than Splatoon.

Even if the free updates stop, you have to imagine they'll have another big expansion next year.

Then they'd better hurry up to announce it because the perspective of stopping content updates after December may turn off a significant chunk of the potential holiday buyers.

Call of Duty is doing great this year in Japan. Guess Blackout really did make a difference even without a campaign.
