That's a lot of Xbox sales in 1 week. Milestone?

img_3650.jpgzcu3c.jpeg

Yes. The Switch is still supply constrained.

I know no one asked yet, but it is always asked each week and I just wanted to get it over on the first page of the new thread. It is supply constrained this week just as it has been every week since launch.

Carry on.

When the heck are those Mario Joycons going to get sold in the west? I need those.

I am not.

I was kidding.
Ok man.

Anyway seems like we'rd heading into a landmark year for the industry. With the PS4 likely reaching it's peak year and the switches supply improving as well as the XB1X should be large sales all round. Japan wise it'll probably be more titled to the switch but the PS4 should have a reasonable holiday season with that MHW demo likely helping.

There's nothing to rain on we're talking about an season limited item that been selling 300k+ ish a month consistently. That's impressive. I don't even think the 3DS was selling that amount for too long at that price tag.
It is impressive and I am not questioning that. Just saying it is a pointless comparison, one is impulse buy pricing close to retail game and the other is not. Also "consistently" is not the right word when it is only the second month of its release.

I'm not even trolling, or trying to start anything. It's legitimate. Literally anytime I jump into these threads I've never seen the sales in one week exceed 300.
What you're saying is true, but let's get real here: 1300 units at a hardware launch is an embarrassment. Apparently most shops only took pre-orders and didn't even make store space available for it. That's how bad Xbox is doing in Japan. All Japanese Xbox fanboys bought the X as pre-order, and sales will drop to maybe a couple hundred, if they're lucky, and everything will be business as usual from next week on again. Calling it a milestone is a verh positive way of looking at the situation haha.

Oh, I honestly didn't realize the sales spike was due to the X's launch. Now those figures are pretty damn sad.

I must have missed the rabbidsland thing.
I take it japan hates the Rabbids?

The Rabbids Land joke originated I think where the first day was like less than 10% and became a running joke that any like that would just be under the category "Rabbids Land". :P

Weird if Minions is huge in Japan, since you'd think Rabbids would catch on to that crowd, but maybe Minions was only very recent in Japan?

In fact...

In terms of cross promotion ads I didn't think I'd see in my life. I think this one is entering the top 5.

I dunno. With enough stock when Odyssey and Splatoon 2 came out, MAYBE 400k isn't so out there. We don't know just where the "demand" ends. But it's still REALLY high it seems.

Oh shit, really? What's the file size of the Switch version? It's an online game-only so it's not a... terrible idea (better than POS2 Cloud's cloud-streaming approach), but SE themselves are the sole users of a 32GB cart with DQ Heroes 1+2, so... it's odd.
I installed version 4 last night, it is 10.7GB.

Since the versions get regular updates, and requires a license code making used copies impossible it makes sense in this one case to go all digital. It has no problem installing without an additional memory card.

I think it'll be hard to make a good estimate of Dragon Quest X's MAU base and the division of its MAU between different platforms.

Where did this come from? As in...who are you responding to?

In the absence of MAU statistics (this is almost never shared unless it over performs and is in FY presentation), the raw number of units sold (digital + physical) of a new expansion of a years old MMO, which can only be obtained if you pay, gives us a imperfect feeling of the relatively engagement level of on each platform. It is not like anyone buying in will be doing so blind at this stage.

A really imperfect metric, but I asssume it gives is a very rough feeling.

According to Media Create, Mario Odyssey Bundle sold 24k this week. Also they note this is an increase compared from the previous week.

That means that 56k are unbundled.

Switch seems to be able to move some good software. I find it hard to believe X2 will sell worse first week than XCX and the first game. I could see it reaching 100K FW if the advertise it good.
The user base is not as big and there's still no sign of good preorders (I think.
I really think the first week might not be so great but it will catch on with other games as hardware gets in the hands of people.
It's supply constrained there I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Xenoblade fan didn't have a Switch yet.

Well pre orders are higher than previous Xeno games at least and digital ratio on switch is much higher than wii and Wii u (we gave actual % data from Nintendo), especially with the new pre order thing for a Nintendo console (it is n7 on the jp eshop)

Mind, I am just talking about a possible fw around 100k, aka higher then previous Xeno games fw

There are two SKUs charting on the top 20 of the eshop depending whether the expansion pass is included or not.

Seeing as how the Snes mini has outsold both the PS4 and XB1 for two months in a row in the US what's the chances companies like Capcom decide to develop titles like MHW for it to chase the western market.

What a world.

Oh no, a $80 SNES outsold the PS4/XB1 for 2 months in a row in the US. What are Capcom ever going to do? Poor guys misread the market. Principate knows where its at: SNES classic.

I guess there's quit a lot of WiiU users who haven't migrated to Switch yet, which is a bit surprising considering Splatoon2 is out.

20. Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires (Koei Tecmo) {2017.11.09} (¥7.344 -> ¥6.609) NEW

It looks like only the top 10s of the three eShops get published on Nintendo Topics on the Japanese website. I can't find any older top 20s in the news section, so I assume they get deleted after a week (or a couple of days?). Hopefully I think about it next week, and put next week's chart in the MC thread again.

The Minions are incredibly popular in Asia as a whole, but I'm not sure about their Japanese popularity.
