1. Momotaro Dentetsu - 104 pts (+18 pts)
8. Derby Stallion - 12 pts (+4 pts)
18. Densha de Go!! Hashirou Yamanote Line (PS4) - 4 pts (NEW)

It's nice to see so many dormant Japan-exclusive IPs which were big during the Nineties getting a second chance on dedicated devices nowadays.

Momotaro Dentetsu was big on DS and Wii too (also the 3DS entry sold well) but Derby Stallion was a million seller on SFC and PS1 and Densha de GO! went close on PS1.

Momotaro Dentetsu is the only game which can achieve the heights of the past but I feel Derby Stallion will do better than Gold on 3DS (around 130k units). Densha de GO! was a on-off hit on PS1 and did small numbers from PS2 onwards so not expecting much but nostalgia and holiday season might help the game.

I highly doubt the PC leak will hurt sales in any meaningful way.

The possible Switch buyers that own a PC, would wait 6 months for an unannounced port, and know about the leak are what, 0,1% of the total audience?

You can pick up World for cheap but games on Nintendo platforms hardly depreciate. Hope the PC version will help with that.

I think Rise getting a PC release down the line was always on the cards - dont think its gonna effect the Switch performance all that much all things considered. It being leaked early doent help but the people that wanna play MH Rise early and on Switch are still gonna show up.
The only 3rd party company putting out exclusives at this point is Sega/Atlus. I feel like it's pretty safe to assume that everything on any platform will also be on PC at the very least at this point.

I don't think pc version of rise will affect switch sales , it's a game for switch experience so most pc users having a switch would prefer playing the switch

So can we expect Bravely Default 2, Shin Megami Tensei V and other 3rd Party exclusives going to PC?
It definitely feels like Nintendo doesn't care about games releasing on PC as long as they don't also release on Xbox/PS.

that's the case for all platform holders, tbh. they are ok with their 3rd party "exclusives" coming to PC in most cases.

Also we are on the internet so a lot of the "well, now I'm not buying it" crowd is either gonna buy it anyway or it wasn't buying it regardless.

Mario 3D All-Star style.

People also gotta remember that a lot of people aren't gonna wait 8 to 10 months for the PC version of MHR. People will want to get their hands on it soon which is the reason why exclusivity is a big deal. Launch hype it a huge thing and no one wants to miss out on that. Plus once people get that demo I'm sure it's gonna get people hooked.

Plus for a lot of people portable MH is huge and a big differentiator to PC which is basically you being stuck in one place. Playing MHGU on switch made me realize how much better portable MH for me because grinding is such a better experience when you aren't stuck in one place.

Edit: Also that capcom leak is absolutely garbage and truly feel bad for all the developers who plans went to shit because of it.

Great legs of Buried Stars in Korea. Usually it's top 10 on the Korean eShop too.
Also, they have Seven Knights now selling good there.

Good data for when comes The War of Genesis. It could explode the sales of Korean games in Switch.

Yeah, unless the game is published by a plattform holder or they are very invested in it a PC version down the line a no brainer.
If you think about its the best of both worlds anyway - i just hope Capcom implements cross-play between Switch and PC.

Sakuna go. Good new IP are very important and you can see the excitement it generates. The Japanese market have been craving for more of those. Pretty much all new IP's with a decent effort seem to be doing well.

It's too bad they likely won't be able to restock the Switch physical version quickly. It's going to hold it back.

Hopefully they'll be able to restock both SKUs (especially the Switch one) as quickly as possible: no doubt Marvelous is just as surprised from the outcome as we are. Heck, I cannot even imagine how happy the two people at Edelweiss are right now. Digital sales are shockingly strong on Switch at least, so they're not losing every potential sale right now; of course, having stock on shelves would be ideal, especially since the Holidays are approaching.

Also, I see your old habits once again, so *sigh*

"This was the week PlayStation 5 launched and market was revitalized. However, PS5 software is not ranked in top 10. Due to the influence of lotteries, PS5 software to hardware ratio (excluding digital edition) was around 60%.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War won 1st place. At 2nd place was Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. We are also selling PS5 versions for these games which are necessary to determine sales ratio in the future.

Also, the popular agricultural game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin appeared at 3rd and 6th place and has the highest sell-through among titles since April."

It's already known that Sakuna is ranked first on the Japan eShop charts.

When you search titles by popularity on the Japan eShop, this is the current ranking:
#1 Super Mario Bros. 35
#2 YouTube
#3 Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
#4 Fortnite
#5 Ninjala
#6 Pokémon Home
#7 Pikmin 3 Deluxe
#8 Tetris 99
And so forth...

Doing better than Fortnite and Ninjala is pretty telling about how succesful it is going to be. Could be a potential million seller in the long run.

Sakuna sold more than Pikmin or Jikkyou at GEO ?

60% SW/HW ratio is really not good.

To be fair, maybe they are referring to the PS5's marketing revitalising the Japanese market's remembrance of the PlayStation brand, which led to some PS4 games being sold.

Hopefully the software to hardware ratio (DE excluded) GEO reported is an outlier because just > 60% is VERY low, historically. This time we don't have the full picture due to digital purchases not being tracked and they're definitely more relevant than back when PS4 launched, but we're still looking at a very small ratio. For reference, PS4's retail software to hardware ratio without including Knack (which was bundled with the system) was 69,9%.

Lack of PS5 software in top ten and 60% sw/hw ratio also indicates low hardware shipment. 100k could be on spot.

Releasing early in Japan was more about messaging rather than sales for Sony and PS5. it seems after few months PS5 will have shipped as much as what PS4 achieved in its first week. in other words, Japanese overall shipment will be the same as PS4 for the first FY, or even less, despite it releasing earlier.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy opened at 68.901 while Curtain Call at 75.867. Both sold >150k units (I don't know if there is some updated LTD from MC Top 1000).

The Dragon Quest version opened at 61.073 and finished at around 120k units.

These games target a very narrow audience but anyone can see how a Final Fantasy rhythm'n'game has much more potential than a Kingdom Hearts one.

>60% really isn't as low as you're implying compared to the PS4 when we know digital must be considerably stronger on the PS5 than on the PS4. Comparison like these aren't working anymore.

I'm guessing a lot of the people who wants to get the PS5 to actually play games probably couldn't get one due to the low shipment. But idk
