So FFVIIR* is going to have 100% growth over FFXV while only releasing on a single plateforme this time?

*2/3rd of the game not included, check with your local Walmart for more information
FFXV

November 29, 2016 - PS4/XB1 launch, 5 million shipped
January 10, 2017 - 6 million shipped
February 23, 2018 - "about 7 million shipped"
March 6, 2018 - PC launch
June 7, 2018 - 7.7 million shipped
September 7, 2018 - 8.1 million shipped
November 8, 2018 - 8.4 million shipped

15 million would not be anywhere near 100% growth over what FFXV's LT sales will be. FFVII has so much more going for it than XV (and by the way, it won't be exclusive to PS4).

The episodic thing will have the same impact on FFVII sales as the Dexit has had on Pokémon Sword/Shield sales. None.

PillFencer Are you a pharmacist or drug dealer? Or is it just a name? I’ve been curious
It's just a user name (well, a private joke that became one), sounds like "Phil Spencer" 💊🤺

I should get back on topic though... uh... Seems like Ring Fit shipments were below 30k again for week 48? Can we expect decent enough shipments starting week 49, at least?

Yes 90% growth versus 100% makes all the difference in the world.

Let's nitpick about this.

Btw 3 eyars later you can still find day one editions of FF XV in bargain bins in Canada.

We're talking FF7 part 1 on PC and maybe Xbox in this 15m too right?

if so, I'm not going to rule it out like others here tbh.
It'll take a while. It's hard to guess if Part 1 or Final part will sell more.
I do think 10m is a lock

I think the backlash for it beeing incomplete is going to harm the game’s sales potential.

I'm sorry but can i know the reason why people expect this game to sell so much? I mean, there is no Pokemon remake which sold 15 million so far, and no Final Fantasy game ever sold over 10 million, and we don't talk about the episode thing, like why is this even a discussion?

A launch in china would be huge, if they can just get 1% of the chinese population that's 100 million sales.

Was that a media create thread or an NPD thread where that came from? I cant remember
Globally in the USA > 1% of china

Let's see how many get the reference.

part 1 will definitely sell more. I don't think there's any episodic game that had the last part sell more unless it was something like Mass Effect

I think so too.
I just didn't say definitively because I can't predict when or what the landscape will be when it Part 3 releases.

How will the PS5, Scarlett, PC, and whatever Nintendo system be doing at that time, and what will the game be on at that point.
How much time would have passed. 5 years? 7? 10?

if it takes forever, the landscape could be different. Heck, if it takes a long while, part could include the other 2 parts
obviously I think 1 will do the most, but just pointing out possible uncertainties since this will probably take a while.

Square Enix could always release the additional parts as paid DLC for those that bough the main game. Having it spread out as 2 or 3 full priced games seems like a sure fire way people review bomb it.

Speaking of which I think they should be brave and add a multiplayer mode to FFXVI. Something like Type-0 or Explorers. Help make it a more social series.

I think games sell better world wide than they have ever before right now and that Final Fantasy 7 Remake should be treated differently than any other remake or recent Final Fantasy game.

The magnitude and the prestige of the original game and the apparent quality and distinction the remake has put it in a different category.

Now, I’m not saying that it will do 15 million. I think it breaking 10 million or even simply outselling XV world wide would prove that it’s unique in terms of releases.

I think it should be exactly what the Final Fantasy series needs to stay relevant and thriving at this point.

It'll probably resemble Comrades than anything else

So among the Platinum winners (1M+ sold in Asia) at the Playstation Awards were God of War and Red Dead 2. Now according to gamedatalibrary Red Dead s at 291k in Japan and God of War at 125k. Those Asia sales must be massive.

P5 passed 3.2m in total
P5R 400k
I didn't see the ' . ' between the 3 and the 2 and I was thinking 'damn, P5R sold a lot digitally.'

This number would suggest a big digital share, though, right? Sell-through is at 232k, and shipments are 80-100 percent. So at worst, digital is 400k - 232k/0.80 = 110k. Or is there some Asia release that adds to the number?

I don't think that they are combining both versions
Persona 5 was at 2.2M by May 2018. By April 2019, it was at 2.7M. There are two options as I see it:
- P5 sales accelerated by a significant amount in order to move another 500k in 7 months whereas before it took 11 months, even though the Royal edition was announced and on the horizon for those 7 months;
- The Royal edition is counted towards the total.

I think the second option makes more sense myself.

As hussien-11 just said the game is now part of the ps hits series. That and the news talking only about the P5 game released in 2016 is what is making me doubt

The success of the first FF7R game isn't in doubt at this point, the real question is how well the sequels do. The FF fanbase historically has not been big on sequels, they like new worlds/characters. But the sample size is pretty small and the few sequels it's had have been much smaller budget games with alot of reused assets, the FF7R sequels won't have those problems.

We actually have a more accurate shipment figure

exact sell-through

06./06. [PS4] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare <ACT> (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2019.10.25} (¥7.900) - 9.411 / 181.165 <82,00%> (-42%)
07./07. [NSW] Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 <SPT> (Sega) {2019.11.01} (¥5.990) - 9.042 / 42.756 <19,50%> (-37%)
08./05. [PS4] Need for Speed: Heat # <RCE> (Electronic Arts) {2019.11.08} (¥7.727) - 7.638 / 23.944 <74,20%> (-53%)
09./08. [NSW] Minecraft # <ADV> (Microsoft Game Studios) {2018.06.21} (¥3.600) - 7.637 / 1.003.160 <96,90%> (-8%)

228,756*100/88.5 = 258,481 copies shipped as of November 17th, 2019. Given its sales pacing, I really doubt Atlus shipped more copies to retailers. Thus, we have around 141,519 downloads via PSN. 35.38% of digital sales+shipments; around 38% of digital sales+retail sales (more precisely, 37.87% as of Week 47, 2019).

Those games also didnt get announced as having multiple parts, which I think is almost the most important thing.

They always felt somewhat tacked on without really being planned for.

Sony does multiple PS4 bundles in Asian territories, God of War was part of them. I'm not sure for RDR2 but in general they are stronger than Japan when it comes to western titles.

50-60% is 90% now?
And what does that have to do with anything?
Do you even « math »?
50% of 8.4 would be 12.6 million units sold
90% of 8.4 would be 15.9 million units sold

So yes that would be a 90% increase over FFXV if the « more than 15 million units sold » predictions came through.

And the point was that FFXV was already overshiped in the west (most of the improvements beeing through the PC release, Royal rerelease and late asian releases)

Except it won't end at 8.4m.

P5R stated officially as 400K is massive when the last known retail numbers (in this thread in fact) is 232k with high sell-through..

Nice.
