Death Stranding 3rd week drop is also very harsh. It's now dropped 80% and 67%, very steep decline. 400k seems difficult at this rate.

I know you were being ironic but if you take the "them" in "is paying off so well for them" as Nintendo, then yes I do feel the kind of 3rd party support Switch did get did help Switch sell even more.

Especially Japan centric companies. Kondo must be really happy about the current situation.
I admire your optimism but I fear there are not many people interested in buying a PS4 anymore. Holiday deal or not.
I may be wrong, but isn't Japan slower to adopt new consoles as well? With a higher price and limited launch titles they would really be facing an uphill battle.

There are tons of places to discuss the quality of the game.
FFVIIR should do insanely well in picking up interest, no? And the PS5 being the all-mighty unbelievable step forward it's supposed to be should be in a whole different stratosphere than what you can get on the Switch (4k, HDR, 120fps, Ray Tracing, next level SSD, etc, etc), so I bet it'll pick up the slack really fast (well by the first price reduction and must have AAA game anyway).

Well they are slow to adopt new Sony consoles.
Switch performed pretty fast out of the gate.
But with the higher Competition(Switch) and probably a high price at launch PS5 will have a really rough time at launch.
TBH i would not be surprized if they delay the japanese launch to 2021 so they can focus on Stocking inventory in the West, where initial demand will be much higher.
Packman will probably be closed till then though.
You always have rather non-sense predictions and that's why we appreciate you. There is no world where a drop that big would happen after Pokemon. I think most were still expecting 100k+ at least.
~10.5m units off the top of my head. PS4 has been ahead but momentum seems to have fallen off a cliff.
In Japan, though? The highlights of Switch third party have been Western games deemed impossible (Witcher 3, Doom, Wolfenstein II, Outer Worlds), all of which have preciously little mindshare in Japan. The lowlight, on the other hand, is the loss of a major Japanese franchise that will be not be discussed today, along with quite a bit of apathy especially from Bandai Namco with regards to their major franchises.
I don't think the jump in graphics quality will help. It's not like PS4 games look bad or anything.
PS5 is looking likely to be very expensive which will likely harm it a great deal in it's first few years. That's the biggest worry for it.

I was expecting 120k-130k. 180k is clearly way above most, if not all, predictions.
I still don't think its fair to always single out Namco on support. If SD Gundam hits 100K, Namco will have the majority of 100K sellers this year. If Namco apathetic, what are other companies?
So Switch realistically has 14+ months of essentially no competition in Japan.
PS5 is going to perform poorly out of the gate. I do think the transition to making games for PS5 will be relatively quick though compared to the last 2 playstation transitions.

That was one of the best boss fights in any JRPG ever. It had me lying on the floor on my back gasping for air by the time I was done. So good.

A market share of 95.6% for one platform is actually quite worrying. Glad for Nintendo, but not a great sign for the general market at all.
