Great debut for XC2 and good hold for Pokemon, unfortunately the Switch dropped but I'm still expecting a more than stellar performance during the holidays

Good numbers overall, especially for XB2, but seems like supply problems are biting Nintendo in the ass again. PS4 with a slight increase is good to see as well.

Code:
09./09. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo <ETC> (Nintendo) {2016.11.23} (¥2.700) - 13.068 / 294.639 (+21%)

Now this right here is wild, lmao.

Damn. XC2 failed us. That 120k is not reachable hiks. Also Switch number is dissapointing.

Also Kirby for how much complain that it is oversaturated, it still sell super well.

Much lower number than expected for Switch. I guess the supply side failed here.

Xenoblade 2 is really nothing to write home about. Average sales considering the conditions: better install base than Xenoblade X, a supposedly much more fitting art style, a "return to classic Xenoblade" and a big momentum for Switch. Compared to other games released on Switch it really under deliver.

This means that Xenoblade series are really limited in appeal in Japan and maybe Monolith Soft should really try to "westernise" the game a bit more since it anyhow sells much more in the west. Or try something new (like they will anyhow).
Yeah I'm not sure what Monolithsoft can do at this point to try to get bigger sales with current Xenoblade formula.
Maybe getting some high quality anime series might help?
It seemed to have worked great for Persona.

Is 97k good for XB2? I thought some were mentioning estimates of up to 150k. It sounds good to me, but I need some perspective.

And it looks like the Switch is still supply constrained?

Hopefully there's a Switch bump next week. I want to see 4 million Switches sold by December 31st.

It's defintely gonna be the best selling game in Japan this gen and the series as a whole right?

Round of applause for the 213 brave warriors that bought a Xbox One X this week and got a lot of weird looks from store clerks.

Revelations collection bombed.

Good numbers for Switch.

Xenoblade 2... What I expected.

Good numbers for Switch and Xenoblade 2. Were people expecting too much for Switch this week (saw predictions of 200K+ already) or was there some form of anecdotal evidence people believed in?

Also dat 1-2 Switch comeback.

Look like this holiday season is going to be terrible for PS4 in Japan.

Sony Japan need to plan bit better.

Nice one for XC2! Good Switch stock too, and Nobunaga Switch managed to sell at least 5k.
Ok for LWA and the late RE ports I guess?

Style savvy reaching 100k LTD seems reachable now.

And 12 Switch is going to hit 300k before this holiday is over lol.

How did RE Revelaitons Collection numbers fare against the original releases?

A little less than I was hoping for Xenoblade 2, but still a decent first week without digital. I am curious to see if it being the holiday will enhance its legs at all.

I'm taking the natural Odyssey decrease and the Splatoon/MK rise to mean "Now the people who bought the Switch for Mario Odyssey are out for something new"

My god everyone in here with the doom and gloom for Xenoblade 2. Yes it was below my expectation of 115k but it's not like it sold less than its predecessors? It essentially sold 100k without taking into account a digital market that is at record highs for Nintendo. Probably did 110k with Digital first week lol.
Y'all should be happy it is showing growth here and the UK.
I still believe it'll see over a million worldwide.

Regarding Xenoblade 2, it looks like YSO's estimate was way off the mark. I can't help but feel that the limited supply of the Switch itself was one of the contributing factors of hindering the game's sales potential. Still, it is quite an impressive feat as it sold the most in the series.

Welllll (and this goes for a lot of posts in this thread) if famitsu is higher, as it typically has been for switch stuff, and you add in digital- week one sales could meet or exceed YSO's estimates on famitsu.

Of course it was clear. MH Freedom Unite was selling like crazy and PSP was an healthy console with plenty of games as well.
Read my post again, you missed the word "when" :) It was not clear if MHP3rd was coming out i.e 1 year or 2 years after MH3. That was anyone's guess. But my main point was that people had to wait regardless.

Xenoblade looks like a slowly growing IP. Happy for Monolith anyways.

X2 is up 15%, the system is supply constrained and not everyone who wants to play the game can get a Switch to play it on.

More growth would have been better, but for what it is, it did fine.

Expected more from XB2 at least is close to 100k, and maybe 110k with digital. Now let's see the legs.

Switch being down WoW is strange, now maybe next week should be over 200k.

Xenoblade 2 did ok---not bad but not amazing either. Let's see if holiday season can give the title some more legs than usual. WOM should also be strong and might help too.

Not that I'm an expert on JP sales figures (I only check these threads when there's a game I care about that just came out) but 97k on Week 1 in Japan nowadays seems very impressive. It even did better than all other Xenoblade games so if they were happy enough with those numbers to make sequels, they're probably very happy with this.

I think most of us aren't really in doom or gloom mode, but rather thinking if and how it can ever escape the current niche status in Japan.
