Wait din't Famitsu reported 1,303K for Ultimate this Monday? Why numbers are different now? Did that number include digital?

Great for Switch, hope it sells +300K in Media Create.

Media Create was around 20k higher than Famitsu during Let's Go's launch week, so 300k is very possible!

Come on superior tracker! Give us 300k! :D

Great results for both hardware and Smash sales,
I wonder if we will see an increase for other software or has the Smash launch sucked the air out of other titles this week.

First hints for this week are that both Switch and Smash continue very strong at retail. Weekend will be again the major factor of how high they'll go.

Smash: 1 238 358
Switch: 6 116 566

Attach rate: 1:5 (basically, 20% of people with a Switch have Smash).

And that's not taking into account digital sales.

impressive.

But nothing will beat Melee, debuting with 357.101 units on 428.789 GameCube for an astonishing attach rate of 0,83.

Of course data are biased from the fact that Melee released a couple of months after the platform launch.

To think that this numbers are up to Dec 9th, holiday season doesn't even start in Japan yet and Switch is already managing to sell ~300k a week at ¥30,000.

Wow

I've never been into Smash, or ever played more than 10 minutes of it, but all this hype has me wanting to pick it up.

Looking forward to 10pm, and will be cheering on for 300k, and +10% for the evergreen titles.

The result for Smash is fantastic.

What I'm really curious to see is how the list of Nintendo evergreens will sell moving forward, after increasing from 4 to 6 games.

Hoping for a Nintendo PR sooner on Smash from Nintendo of America.

Somewhere. I think.
Nothing will beat Knack.
Attach rate of 1,000485. :P

I still remember there were actually people who bought the game stand-alone, even though it was already included with the console they bought.

I believe press releases were issued for the FC and SFC Classic -- so the lack of one for the PS1 isn't a great sign.

Oh yeah, I forgot that one. At least we can count on Media Create on Friday.

I mentioned this before but didn't go into detail, but last week a mobile pay app called Paypay started an offer where ANYTHING you buy through their app gets you 20% cashback, up to a generous limit. The day the deal went live there were lines outside the big box stores (Yodobashi camera etc) for consoles, TVs and other stuff that might sell out. Personally I used the deal to get the Smash Pro Controller but I'm sure it's one of the reasons Switch sales were particularly high this week and I would expect a similar effect on other consoles.

I don't think Yodobashi supports PayPay. That would be Bic Camera, Sofmap, Yamada Denki, Matsuya Denki and a slew of other smaller ones.

I ended up buying the Smash bundle as a gift. Getting ¥7,900 off effectively pushed me over the edge.

I wouldn't expect too much for the evergreens, this is Smash time. Next week though.
Chris seems to have seen some contrary movement:
Switch evergreens rised a lot last week and holidays hadn't started yet so there were some hints that hardware went very high.

We'll see in 40 minutes how much the games rose. I will quote the post I made yesterday that shows last year's rises for this week and the weeks after:

So it begins...

Gonna be fun to watch what last year's evergreens (Splatoon 2, MK8D, BOTW and SMO) are going to do this holiday. Here's what we saw last year during weeks 50, 51, 52 and 1:

Week 52:

11./08. [NSW] Pokken Tournament DX <FTG> (Pokemon Co.) {2017.09.22} (¥5.980) - 13.650 / 191.485 (-50%)

Week 1:
Code:
01./02. [NSW] Splatoon 2 # <ACT> (Nintendo) {2017.07.21} (¥5.980) - 117.840 / 1.882.709 (+22%)
02./01. [NSW] Super Mario Odyssey # <ACT> (Nintendo) {2017.10.27} (¥5.980) - 110.816 / 1.508.148 (+5%)
03./03. [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe <RCE> (Nintendo) {2017.04.28} (¥5.980) - 82.806 / 1.215.599 (-5%)
07./07. [NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild # <ADV> (Nintendo) {2017.03.03} (¥6.980) - 31.761 / 802.811 (-4%)
08./10. [NSW] Arms <FTG> (Nintendo) {2017.06.16} (¥5.980) - 25.374 / 339.328 (+54%)
09./08. [NSW] 1-2-Switch <ETC> (Nintendo) {2017.03.03} (¥4.980) - 21.104 / 371.033 (-1%)
14./11. [NSW] Pokken Tournament DX <FTG> (Pokemon Co.) {2017.09.22} (¥5.980) - 12.553 / 204.038 (-8%)

Plenty of caveats, of course: SMO did huge partly because it launched only a month and a half prior. I don't think we should be expecting anywhere near these performances for those games, but maybe we can see close to 50% of this? That would still mean huge numbers for those titles!

And no, I don't know why ARMS got that major boost in week 1 of 2018.

Edit: And here's where all these titles were during week 49, the one that will get a report tomorrow:

Week 49:
Code:
04./03. [NSW] Super Mario Odyssey # <ACT> (Nintendo) {2017.10.27} (¥5.980) - 95.816 / 949.470 (+56%)
05./04. [NSW] Splatoon 2 # <ACT> (Nintendo) {2017.07.21} (¥5.980) - 50.594 / 1.460.370 (+40%)
06./07. [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe <RCE> (Nintendo) {2017.04.28} (¥5.980) - 33.315 / 894.553 (+42%)
10./10. [NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild # <ADV> (Nintendo) {2017.03.03} (¥6.980) - 14.342 / 682.992 (+23%)
17./21. [NSW] Pokken Tournament DX <FTG> (Pokemon Co.) {2017.09.22} (¥5.980) - 8.362 / 139.637 (+76%)
19./20. [NSW] 1-2-Switch <ETC> (Nintendo) {2017.03.03} (¥4.980) - 7.604 / 295.470 (+60%)
21./23. [NSW] Arms <FTG> (Nintendo) {2017.06.16} (¥5.980)

Last year saw rises after about 40-50% (with large variance). I wonder if this year will see the same.

PS4 and Switch sales are phenomenal.
Smash sales are too, though going into this week I was optimistically hoping 1.5m. That doesn't take away from how astounding of a launch this is of course
